“So, you won’t be coming home for Christmas?” my mom asks on the other end of the phone speaker.
This will be the first Christmas I will be spending away from my family and my mom doesn’t like the sound of that.
“No mom”
“So, you will be all alone during the Christmas festival?” she asks with a hint of disappointment in her voice.
“I won’t be alone. Audrey isn’t coming home too, and we thought of visiting grandma and granddad in Australia” I say
“Oh that would be great then, at least you girls will be with family” she says.
“Are you travelling anywhere for Christmas?” I ask
“No, your father suggested we have a feast here in Lusaka. Your grandparents on the copperbelt are coming over” she says
