James pov
All I see is red as I look down at the man that was...
He was harassing my Lucy.
He was..touching my Lucy.
I look him up and down.
What an ugly man, and to think he thought he could touch my Lucy!
I lose control, raining punches and landing blows all over his body.
I kick him in his crotch so hard, I'm sure he won't be using it anytime soon.
Especially not near my Lucy.
"Don't you ever come anywhere close to her do you hear me?!" I shout, holding the creature up by his collar.
He laughs.
FuCking laughs.
"What's so funny?"
"You don't have the right to tell me to stay away from what's mine, and Lucy's mine." He smirks
I'm-going to kill him.
I wrap my hands around his throat and begin to squeeze.
"Lucy's mine you dumb f**k and don't you ever, ever touch her again." I whisper into his ear.
With that, I slam him to the ground and drag him outside.
"Don't come back here again."
He gets up shaking and turns, walking away, down the block.
I turn around to go back to Lucy, but as soon as I do, she's already behind me jumping into my arms.
I barely have time to catch her before she's hugging me tightly.
"Are you okay?" She asks.
"Who was that guy?" The question that's remained on my mind since I got here.
She goes tense in my embrace.
Lucy pov
He asks the one question I didn't want to answer.
"My ex."
He goes silent for a minute.
"Why was he here?"
"He's been stalking me since we broke up in high school."
He puts me down and his hands go to my shoulders.
"Is that why you moved to California from New York?" He asks, squeezing my shoulders with his hands.
I stop to think how he knew that, then realize it was in my file.
"Yeah, it had become too much. Leaving notes on my bedroom door, the constant feeling of being watched.
He was tormenting me and I don't think he'll ever stop, seeing as he came here. All the way here." I begin trembling.
Why won't he just leave me alone? Everywhere I go, everything I do, he's right there.
James pulls me to his chest again.
"As far as I'm concerned this is the last time he's ever going to see you."
"But-"
"Let's go inside." He says loosening his grip on me and leading us both back into my living room.
He sits me down close to him, so close I'm partially on his lap.
He grabs my thigh and leans in.
"You're safe with me, Lucy. He's already a dead man walking."
"What do you mean by that?" I ask, wondering if he plans to do what I think he's going to.
"Don't worry about it, just know he never going to be bothering you after this, never." My eyes widen.
He's really going to kill him.
"James, no, you can't-" he cuts me off again.
"I'll do whatever is necessary to keep you safe and away from him."
I feel a fear arise in me.
This man, he's the same as Bryan, obsessed.
Obsessed with me.
And whether that's good or bad, I just don't know yet.
