“Claire, you look a bit pale. Did something happen?” Leilah got up from her seat as soon as I entered her office.
I smiled, not wanting her to worry about me. “I’m okay. I just got overwhelmed with my emotions again. It’s the first time in a few days. I’m sorry I’m late too.” It’s not an excuse for being late at work. I was already lucky that Leilah gave me work.
“No, it’s alright. I don’t have any patients until the next hour, right? Just rest here for the meantime.” My shoulders dropped. I feel so useless whenever things like this happen. I was able to control myself earlier, and I thought that I was already fine, but it’s happening again.
I wiped my tears. Here I am again, crying for the most minor reasons. I wanted to stop, but tears kept welling in my eyes.
