“Thank you so much for taking me in,” Leilah called me today to offer me a secretarial job. I had been working in the same convenience store for the last three months, and I was lucky to find a kind boss who took me in despite my pregnancy. They knew I was three months pregnant and thought I was still in my early pregnancy stage. I was lucky that my bump aligned with my excuse, but I’ll have to leave eventually. We agreed that I would only work for three months and a half, just before they might notice that I had somehow lied. Finally, it was my last day yesterday.
