“Wait, wait, what’s going on?” I asked, staring back and forth between the boys. They were both standing fairly close to each other, discolored shades of green vines wrapped around them both, squeezing them. I could see the discomfort in their eyes, the panic, the uncertainty. They didn’t know what was going on, not even Zain and he seemed to have been here first. I wanted to run to them, try and pull the vines off, but I paused. Who do I go to first? Surely Zain, right? Instead, I turned to Jade since she was standing next to me and glared at her. She grinned at me, flipping her hair over her shoulder, twirling the end of the strand as she c****d her hip to the side.
