Alicia’s POV
Mrs. Thompson arranged a small gathering for the pack after the ceremony, but for once, I didn’t have much of an appetite. The mating bond was meant to be something special, but thanks to Caspian and this ridiculous plan of his, even if it was only temporary, it now meant nothing to me. I had made a vow knowing I would break it as soon as he grew tired of me and decided on his rightful Luna. I wondered as I watched the people in the dining room, who could be his mate and why he hadn’t found her yet. I knew why I didn’t have mine. Right after my mother died, I prayed to the moon goddess never to give me someone to love that much. I wouldn’t be able to deal with it if they died and I would never want to put my children through what my dad put me through after my mother’s death.
