It was the worst twenty-four hours of my life and I paced the floor of the laboratory waiting for the final results. The analyst didn’t even question my authority to get results before the biological parents knew what they were. I stopped only to watch a piece of paper as it slowly started to print and grabbed it before the analyst could even read it.
