13 The pair stood in the closet for a minute before Paul slipped out from behind Lilly and peeked his head out. He listened for a moment before he grabbed her hand and together they slipped out. Paul turned a sharp left and led her to the back windows. The window was divided into three sections, and the tops of all three could be pushed out to allow air into the upper floor. Paul pulled the central window open and eased himself out onto a thin ledge. He scooted to one side and grasped the thin window frames before he looked to Lilly. “Now follow me.” Lilly leaned her head out the window and looked at the ground. The drop was twenty-five feet onto a bunch of rusted dumpsters. She winced and held back. “I-I don’t think I can do it.” “You must,” he insisted as he held out his hand
