Chapter Two

It all started as a normal day for me, never did I imagine that today would change my life. After I ate breakfast and brushed my teeth I got dressed for work and made my way to my red ford explorer. I decided to stop at my apartments mailbox room before I went to work, when I looked in the mailbox, I was surprised not to see anything because our mail person was never late. I guess today was going to be one of those days. Just as I was about to leave the mail person was running inside the building to put everyone’s mail in their boxes, just as I was about to ask if I had anything for 5650 D? the mail lady gave me a smile and handed me my mail first. She was always so nice to everyone even if she was late but that of course is an oddity, while I went through my mail, I noticed that most of my mail was BILLS and junk mail and boy I was upset but then a mysterious letter fell out. It did not have a return address and that threw up some red flags for me, but I did notice that it just had my name and the name of the one who sent it, I found that odd because I did not know anyone from Transylvania. Let alone a C. Van Helsing, just as I was about to open the letter, I looked at my watch and immediately ran for the parking garage, I was 5 minutes behind schedule now. While I started my truck, I decided that I had just read the letter on my lunch break which was going to be 5 grueling hours and boy were my coworkers annoying.

Just as I was about to get started on my work when my most annoying coworker Tyler also the guy who was trying so hard to f*ck me, but I seriously loathed him I always caught him staring at my ass and constantly checking me out. What he did not know was last year at the Christmas party one of the girls that worked with us but later quit took a picture of his d**k which was insanely small, and no way was I interested in anything that had to do with him and that was the bonus because I got a good laugh that night which I needed. What can I say sometimes I can be a total b***h, anyway he started to say something but luckily, he was cut off by another coworker who had just started and looked to him for answers?

Which did not make sense to me because he was dumber than a sack of potatoes…no that is insulting the potatoes he is way dumber, but I still cannot figure what to compare it to. But then I noticed that the new guy looked back at me and smiled and winked all I could was mouth “thank you” and he mouthed “you’re welcome”.

Luckily, lunch came quickly so I decided before Tyler could get back to my desk, I had better make myself scarce, so I grabbed my letter and wallet and went to the café across the street. I made my typical order a medium iced coffee with the chicken breast salad, and I grabbed a bowl of honeydew my favorite and paid for everything I decided that I would take my lunch up to the balcony. As I was eating, I decided that I should open the letter as I opened it, I noticed something that looked like a plane ticket? Why was there a plane ticket to Transylvania? And a one way at that, something isn’t right who wants me in Transylvania that badly they would send a plane ticket?

                Dear Nathina Andrews,

                                Think I had better start with my name since I bet your wondering who I am. My name is Clifton Van Helsing, I was a friend of your late grandmother and she always said that if I ever needed help with something and she was no longer around to contact you instead. I write to you and send this plane ticket to you in hopes that you can help me with a problem that I am having, your grandmother always helped me with this problem and now I ask you for your assistance. I unfortunately cannot explain in detail via letter but if you could come to me, I would consider that a blessing and I would be honored with your presence in my family castle. Enclosed in the envelope there is a card with my home address as well as my family business on the other side. If you any questions or any doubts please give my office a call, they will be honored to answer any questions.

I was just in awe when I finished the letter so much in awe that I decided to contact my mother luckily, I still had about 15 minutes left of my lunch. As soon as the phone started to ring, she picked up the 3rd ring which is typical for my mother “hi mommy how is your day today? I remember you saying your back hurt last week.” I said with my normal cheerful tone “hi my baby, I’m fine just some pain here and there how’s work going? Is that one coworker still not knowing when to stop trying?” she said man my mom sure can read me like a book I never could keep anything from her. “No, he still doesn’t know when to stop trying, but that’s not why I’m calling about I’m calling because I got a rather strange letter from one of Grammys friends a van Helsing? Do you know him?” I could hear my mother “Hmm” I think I met a Van Helsing, but it was she not he, now if I remember correctly, she did have a son and he would be about your age if not a little older. I do also remember that she did a lot of business with her but unfortunately that is all I remember baby, is that what you were looking for?” she asked “yeah, I think so but hey mommy I must go back to work but I may have to take a trip I will let you know later ok? I Love you mommy bye-bye” after that I went back to work but before I went to my desk I quickly went to my manager before what’s his face saw me. As I knocked on the door, I heard him say “come in” I quickly went inside and took a seat patiently waiting for him to look up. He sighed and said, “yes sweet Nathina what can I do for you sweetie.”

 I loved my manager he was an old friend of my grandmother and that’s how I even got hired here in this wonderful place anyway I said “uncle Mick I need a week off because I’m starting to feel strained plus I need a break from Tyler” Uncle Mick immediately stopped working and looked at me, that’s how I knew he was slightly upset about the fact that Tyler still hadn’t learned his lesson since the last time Uncle Mick spoke with him about his behavior towards me “he still isn’t letting up is he?” he said and I merely nodded my head. He sighed and said “go ahead sweetie I’ll have this issue fixed by the time you return from your trip and don’t worry about not being paid I’ll take care of everything” he said with a smile. I could not help it and just went to kiss his cheek and said, “thank you!” and ran to my desk to get some of my things I might need.

Just as I was about to turn to leave the dumbass pervert came up behind me and made me jump when I turned around.

I immediately said “what do you want Tyler? and I thought that Mr. Conners said to stay away from me oh yeah before I forget he wants to see you in his office” I said and then he said “great that’s the last thing I wan…” I did not even let him finish his sentence as I walked away towards the elevators.

As I made my way across the street, I noticed a young man with curly auburn hair insanely lushes’ lips and a totally rockin’ body and blue eyes that I swear I could get lost in. just as quickly as I noticed him, he vanished I looked around a minute then kept across the street to my truck. As I got into my truck, I decided that I wanted to text my mother and tell her what was going on.

Nathina A: Hey mommy, I decided to go see this Mr. Van Helsing he invited me to his family castle, do not worry as soon as I land and as soon, I get into the castle as well as before I will text or call you hell, I may even facetime you so you can see what the castle looks like as well as my room too. I love you mom talk to you soon, oh yeah, I must go and get some essentials before I take my flight in a few hours if you need anything just say so and I will leave it in my condo, ok?

Christina(mommy): Alright baby but be careful I do not want anything to happen to you ok if you do not feel safe take the first flight home or go straight to the police, I love you baby. And if you are going to Wally world, can you get a half gallon of milk for me as well as some bread and shampoo? Do you remember the kind I use sweetness?

Nathina A: Yes, mommy I remember, and I will put the milk and bread in the refrigerator and the shampoo on the counter I will leave the hide a key where you can find it… under the flowerpot.

Well looks like I better go to Wally World for everything since I can only find my mom’s shampoo there, plus the fact I need a new suitcase since my old one broke my last vacation. As I went through the store, I made sure to get plenty of shampoo in travel size as well as makeup remover wipes and soaps too I am seriously unsure if they will have the same products where he lives.

 As I make it home I put my mom’s things in the refrigerator and put her shampoo next to the fridge and begin packing everything I might need including a couple of formal dresses and my cute night gowns as well and a pair of my most comfortable shoes and pack a couple of different pairs of heels since my suitcase was pretty big, I had plenty of room in my new suitcase that I put all of my toiletries in there and put a blanket and a travel pillow in my overnight bag too.

I decided since I have an hour before my trip, I am going to take a quick shower and change into more comfortable clothing maybe some nice loungewear or better sweats and a nice t-shirt. As I wait for the water to heat up, I took another look at the ticket and see that it is a FIRST-CLASS ticket!? I could not believe it so I decided some nice jeggings and a cute dressy loose blouse would be a better fit then what I had originally planned. If he has gotten me a first-class ticket I wonder if he also got me a limo too.

After I finished, my shower I quickly got dressed and grabbed both my bags and wallet and ticket and passport. As soon I make it to the airport, I literally only have 15 minutes to find and board my plane only to find that instead of a normal plane I found that it was one of the more luxurious planes and I must admit I was getting a little excited.

As soon I get on the plane, I was treated like a princess being waited on hand and foot and I would be lying saying that I do not like it. I was showed to my seat, and I quickly got situated and after we were in the air, I decided to send Clifton an email.

                Mr. Van Helsing,

                                I got your letter early this morning and decided that I had come to assist you and maybe you can fill me in as soon as I get there. I asked the flight attendant when we would be landing, and he said that we would reach Transylvania within 18 hours. I will see you soon and thank you for inviting me too, I must admit I needed a vacation.

Clifton P.O.V:

I sent the letter with the plane ticket and a business card with my address on the back. I had almost forgotten how beautiful she was Nathina I know she prefers Natty, but I do not think I can help myself calling her by her first name. I just hope that Kyle was not too obvious when he was following her to ensure she was safe, because if Melian was right than her granddaughter will be twice as gifted and will be a quick learner because time is of the essence and hopefully, we will not fall for each other in the process.

Luckily, I called Mick last week and asked him to let her go on a vacation if she asked for it but what I was not expecting was that she only asked for a week? It is a good thing I am close to Mick as well and asked him if she could extend that just in case, she needed it for what was going to come soon? To my surprise he just agreed because he always hated lying to her about who she really is…

I was just about to head off to bed when I decided I should check my email just in case she may have sent anything, to my surprise she did send something. I was happy to hear that she was on her way, so I made sure to tell her that she did not have to worry about a cab or anything like that someone from my business was going to pick her up from the airport and drop her off here at my family castle. I do not know why but I was hoping that she would like it. After sending her the message I went to bed and told her that I would see her tomorrow afternoon after she landed.

Nathina P.O.V.:

I did not expect to get a reply from him so soon after I sent him a message, but I have to say that I was a little happy to hear from him I wonder why? After about 5 hours I finally went to sleep but I could swear that I was having a nightmare about my grandmother using what looked like magic to keep me safe when I was a little girl and then someone that smelled like sandalwood, my mother wears a scent like that carried me and a little boy away from the monster that kept saying “MINE!?” while staring at me all I do was be scared. I had not realized that we were about to land when the flight attendant woke me up and told me to readjust my seat.

When we landed, I immediately looked around for the ride that Mr. Van Helsing told me would be waiting for me, I did not know it, but I was followed by the young man with the curly auburn hair. He said, “Ms. Nathina Andrews, I take it?” all I could do was say “how do you know my name? and didn’t I see you back in Ohio? He smiled and said, “yes you did it was my job to ensure that you weren’t harmed in anyway, my name is Kyle now didn’t you come here for Mr. Van Helsing?” he asked me I couldn’t help but nod he took my bags and put them in the trunk of the limo and opened it, I got it and he got behind the driver seat. It was my first time being in Transylvania but oddly it felt like I had been here before, I did not realize that I was staring outside when Kyle asked me a question, I did not hear it at first and asked him if he could repeat the question. He said, “have you ever met Cliff?”  I said “no I haven’t but my mom did tell me that he was a Cynthia Van Helsing’s son? Also is there something I should know before I meet him?” he said “nope nothing in particular expects a billionaire and from what I remember he’s your godbrother” my eyes almost popped out of my head when he told me that. Why didn’t my mother tell me he was my godbrother why didn’t my grandmother tell me he even existed and finally why did he ask for me to come to him? I have so many questions and I do not know why.

Before I knew it, I could see a castle in the distance, and I asked Kyle “is that the castle?” I said and pointed out the window. Kyle smiled and said, “yup that’s it”.  When we finally arrived at the castle he said “welcome to Van Helsing Castle a place that’s been around for the better part of 400 years”

The castle had me dazzled but the next thing I saw when I got out of the limo had my heart pounding and my palms sweaty “he’s so handsome” I mumbled Clifton said with a dashing smile “well welcome to my home Nathina Andrews its pleasure to finally make your acquaintance God sister, I know that you have questions and I will answer them in due time but first things first lest get you situated and then we talk k?”
