Bella was oblivious to what Eve had done. As she sipped the new wine she frowned slightly.
Eve worried that Bella would suspect what she had done and asked tentatively, “What’s wrong?”
Bella shook her head, “Nothing. The taste is a bit strange.”
Eve began to sweat. She smiled at Bella and said, “You might be not used to its taste. If you don’t like it, just put it to one side. Let’s sing!”
Bella wasn’t in the mood to sing anymore. She barely looked up from the table as she continued eating and drinking.
After choosing her song, Eve sat down and sang, all the while keeping an eye on Bella’s reactions. Finally, she saw Bella touch her face.
