~ LARK ~ Lark woke once during the night. She didn’t open her eyes to see what time it was, but she was woken by JP crawling under the sheets behind her, his skin chilled as if he’d been out of bed for a long time. He was moving carefully, trying not to wake her, but when he slid up behind her, his hand on her hip, she rolled over and buried her face in his chest, wrapping his cold body in her warm arms and legs and holding him close. “Are you okay?” she whispered. “Shhhhh, go back to sleep.” She wanted to ask again—he hadn’t actually answered the question—but his large hand kept drawing through her hair, then down her back and the feel of it on her skin was so delicious, she gave a little groan of happiness and sank into him, letting her fingers play up lazily up and down his back as
