68. Waiting, Waiting

1492 Words

~ LARK ~ Lark stood because she couldn’t sit still, in one of the small rooms just down the hall from the Council Chambers—the fancy name given to the offices in the city that the Elders held as a central meeting point on neutral ground. Wolves were territorial. Though their human counterparts were less affected, there was no doubt that an Alpha was empowered by being on home ground. So each council of Elders in every region held chambers where they met to discuss bloodline business. The chambers their elders held had always reminded Lark of a lawyer’s office. It wasn’t helped that the elder's names were listed on plaques at the front of the Reception, and on a board in the lobby.
