8 It was all about trust. Once you’d gained that, you could pretty much do what you liked with them. The rest was pure psychology. Building trust was difficult. The increasingly volatile attitudes towards people like the ones he was targeting meant that they were naturally suspicious of everyone. The police’s increasing resources and computer forensics teams made their lives more difficult and increased suspicions enormously. This meant that a number of them had fragmented and were left to satisfy their perversions alone, safe from the potential of misplaced trust.
