The crystal blue eyed man walked down the street with his hands stuffed in his coat and muffler covering his mouth. The breeze messing his jet black hair still failed to mess with his looks. He ran covering the last few distance between him and the Bloomberg building that stood tall and bustled with life.
His heart clenched at it and dreading walked to its backside.
The backside was still in-habituated and stood ignored by others. He let out a heavy sigh and swept his eyes around it. The blackened walls and few broken concrete lay fallen like the first time. He deliberately walked inside to come to the mess that was left untouched.
The debris fallen around pierced his heart and tears streamed down his face, remembering the incident causing it.
Flashback
“Stay away!!!!!!” She screamed and her face changed!
Her brown eyes turned pitch black shining like the onyx stones. Her face turning golden and orange; her body set on fire as the flames rose up high.
She was f*****g set on fire... she was burning in front of my eyes and I-I couldn’t do anything. I lost my sanity as I stood dumbstruck staring at her.
Panicking, she tried to reach me but withdrew her hands when she realized that she was burning.
She threw a ring towards me.
“Wear it and save yourself.” She shouted and I was still dazed.
I saw it was her ring which had a pattern of an eagle-like something on it. It was an antic and beautiful ring but what will I do with this? I wanted her...
“For my sake... Wear it!” She said with those glossy eyes and it tore me even more.
Nodding to her I slipped the ring and instantly I didn’t feel the heat anymore. My skin wasn’t burning with the temperature and nor with the fire’s steam.
“Tay...” I kneeled to the ground and sobbed.
“Cupc—“ I heard Edward’s voice coming from far behind.
“I am sorry Ed. Thank you.” I saw as she mouthed at him and then her eyes closing as she turned to ashes.
I saw Edward running towards her but all that was left of her was those teary eyes with that sunny smile on her face. Even at this time, she smiled...
Now she lay in front of me on the ground as a pile of dark sooty ashes.
Flashback Ended
It was my mistake, entirely.
He mumbled and cried in the dark lonely night.
From past year, he had been coming to this place to torture himself for the lose he faced by his own mistake.
A year ago he lost his faith, trust, love and base of his life- his Tasha!
The woman who was selfless, pure and clear like glacier water and innocent as a child; the woman was only his and the woman he betrayed because of his trust issues.
Her teary smile crossed my mind and my chest heaved as I cried soundly. The last time I lost her here, the last time I saw her was here and it broke me every time I miss her.
All because of a mistake, my mistake and my misunderstanding- I lost a gem!
I kneeled and cried covering my face in my palms when suddenly, the air around me changed.
I felt the aura of another person around me. Thus, wiping my tears away I searched around to see a faint white mist forming in the same place I lost the love of my life.
The air turned icy-cold and the vapors took shaped of a woman making my eyes widen.
It was my Tasha!
She smiled brightly, looking like the one that waited for me at the end of the tunnel. I smiled through my tears but felt disappointed.
“You lied!” I scowled and watched her smile staring at me lovingly.
“I didn’t.” She said politely making me frown.
“You did! You promised, it will be us together behind that door but see—it’s just me!” I spoke through shaky voice as few tears rolled down my cheeks.
Tasha was still smiling at me and shook her head.
“We already met.” She said confusing me even more.
“No!” I tried to take my stand but she shook her head again.
“We did Damien. You need to find me, bring me home. I want to come back home.” She said and her angelic voice kept ringing in my brain.
“I will. I will bring you home, back to me and back to my arms.” I blurted out to let her know how much I missed her.
With strong urge, I walked upto her watching intently her soft eyes and extended my arms to embrace her.
My arms penetrated her and my heart shattered. The touch disturbed her image and I felt guilty. My mind screamed that I’d successfully broken her again and my heart consoling that no, I didn’t.
I slummed on my knees and sat in daze, watching her disappear.
“Ta-tasha No!” I yelled but not loud enough feeling suffocated to watch her go.
It was becoming hard for me to live without her and the thought of never been able to see her again was eating me up. I was keeping myself alive because she promised that it will be us together in this world but for now, it was just me- drowning in my loneliness, hoping to find her soon.
My head hung low, watching the spot where she disappeared today and last year. My palms running over the spot she last vanished and tears fell again blurring my vision.
“Come and get me, Damien.”
I startled in my place to hear a childish voice beside my ear. It sounded like a pleading and my heart raced.
“I am waiting for you…”
That voice was heard again and it made me dizzy. As I closed my eyes trying to escape it, a vague shadow of a small child flashed in front of me scaring me a bit.
I wasn’t able to see it clearly but enough to know it was a child who appeared to be sad and lonely, staring up above.
Very much feeling the same as me; I bet we were undergoing the same situation and feelings but what could sadden such a small child?
What was that child waiting for?
Am I going crazy?
My head felt heavy and I stood up to leave with a heavy heart. Feeling empty, I sat in my car revving it up in silence. Just as I started it, the child appeared again just in front of my car and I slammed on the breaks to avoid the collision.
My eyes darting back to the vague dark figure but watch it evaporate in the darkness as I was left behind alone in my car with a hand on my chest. My throat turned dry and I gulped hard hoping to ease my heartbeats back to normal.
What the f**k it was?
