Two Months Later
They stood over a headstone laid in the graveyard. Janette Madison and Lucinda Janette Madison-Salvatore was engraved on it. They had managed to find out the baby’s gender, which had broken Nate’s heart even more. Lucian slipped a hand into his boyfriend’s and Nate squeezed it.
“I still don’t know how to apologize enough on behalf of my family for what happened to a member of yours.”
“And I don’t know how many times I can tell you—you’re not responsible for this, nor is Helen or any others but Frank. Remember how he hurt you, too.” Nate turned to him and placed a kiss on Lucian’s hand.
Lucian smiled. “Thank you. I love you, Nate Lockwood.”
“Love you, too.” Nate bent down and searched for his lips. Lucian closed his eyes and sighed deeply as their lips met.
