Chapter Seven. Sarah-Sofia. “How is it going at the hospital?” Aunt Teresa asked me as I slumped into the large chair in the drawing room, still in a pair of my mother’s scrubs. “Okay, I suppose it gives me something to do,” I told her, trying to keep the frustration from my tone. “Hey, your parents just want what’s best for you,” Terri smiled at me. “Yeah, but if I was one of the boys, I doubt they would have a problem with me wanting to take over the family business when the time comes,” I sighed. “Oh, trust me, they would. Neither of them wants any of you involved in this way of life. Your father is doing everything in his power to change things. But change doesn’t happen overnight, it takes years. Patience Sarah-Sofia, show him you can control your emotions, and he will give you more to do.” I know my aunt is right, but the sense of injustice still weighs heavy on my mind. “Your father is back this evening. I believe he is bringing the new doctor with him.” Terri gins at me. “Yeah, mama said this morning, he is coming for dinner. She wants us all to be on our best behaviour as she introduces us to him. I think she is worried we will scare him off,” I laughed. “Ricardo is coming back as well. Your papa is not pleased with him,” Terri sighed shaking her head slightly. “Oh, what did he do now?” I asked, a smirk on my face. That would teach my papa to take Ric when he could have taken me. Not that I am jealous at all, who am I kidding I am practically green with envy, but I love my brother, so I will just deal with it. “Two days into looking around the business, he had a secretary in his office, bent over his desk, and your papa walked in. Then he found the same secretary and her friend coming out of Ricardo’s room later that night,” Terri laughed. “Oi, oi, oi, seriously, Ric is s*x mad,” I laugh, shaking my head. “I best go up and have a shower, and change,” I huff slightly, not really wanting to get up out of my chair. It had been a long shift at the hospital, with one of the pregnant women giving birth. I cannot confirm or deny that I had a tear in my eye when the baby was born, or that I had really loved being part of her labouring process, standing beside the new mother, as she gripped my hand and offered her encouragement to push. If I voiced how fulfilling that had been, my mother would have me locked in that hospital forever more, with my papa throwing away the key. I step out of the shower, rubbing my moisturiser all over my body, before adding some product to my hair that is allegedly supposed to stop my curls from frizzing and taming them somewhat, before heading into my walk-in closet. Unlike my mother, I love fashion and clothes, but for some reason, I cannot decide what to wear. Designer dresses seem a little OTT for a family dinner and meeting the new doctor. Mama said he was young and very good-looking, but other than that she had remained tight-lipped about him. I pull out a pair of mid-blue skin-tight jeans, and pull them on, loving the way they cling to my curves. I then pull out a bright red V-neck top, with lace on the arms, that clings to my bust, then flares at the waist landing just below my tummy. Grabbing a pair of bright red four-inch heel ankle boots, I spray some coco channel and add the Marini diamond earrings my mother gave me, which were inherited from her mother before she was brutally murdered in a car bomb. “EVA!” My papa’s voice echoes around the marble hallway from downstairs, and as much as I am pissed with him, I cannot help the smile that forms on my lips. No matter what, I love my Papa and he is still my hero. I walk out of my room, and practically run down the stairs, to meet my father. As I approached him, his face is like thunder, as he bellows for Mama again. “She is still at the hospital, a kid fell off a donkey, she shouldn’t be too much longer,” I tell him. Papa nods, then engulfs me in a hug. “You are my good girl, remember that, you are my good girl,” Papa tells me, as I frown up at him. “Sure papa,” Ric walks around papa, then he looks at me a smirk on his face, as he walks upstairs. Not sure what the hell is going on, but whatever it is, has amused my brother and has my papa raging. My mama chooses this exact moment to arrive home from the hospital, still in her green scrubs, as she enters the hallway Papa stalks her, as her eyes grow wide, and soon he has her caged in at the wall. “Bella Cigno, you test me,” He growled, before claiming her lips. When my father is pissed off with my mother, he goes all caveman on her, which she seems to like. That is not something I want to witness, so I walk away into the kitchen, to find Aunt Teresa with my Aunt Connie, Nona Sofia, and Nona Giulia chatting and making pasta, as Lorenzo stirs some sauce at the stove. “Your papa sounds pissed,” Connie sighs, for all she is the capo’s wife, she is a little timid compared to the rest of us. “Yeah, not sure what it is all about, but he is snogging the life out of mama with her caged to the wall,” I shrug. “I guess he has met the new doctor then,” Terri laughs, as Nona Sofia nods her head and then looks at me. “Ah you look so beautiful, this is good, you are a good girl,” she smiles at me. “Are you not looking after your guest this evening Nona?” I ask, she normally loves playing the hostess. “The old goat and your Nono Danilo are looking after them until they all come here,” Nona smiles. “Them? I thought there was just the one doctor,” I say, not that I care either way. “There is, but he has brought his twin brother with him,” Terri grins, then proceeds to take two salami sausages off the hook and stroke them provocatively. “Oi oi, she is obsessed,” Nona Giulia shakes her head at my aunt. “What, I have missed my Vincent, I wish there was two of him so that I can still have sausage time even when he is away,” Terri shrugs as I roll my lips to stop myself laughing. It only encourages her. Suddenly, the words ‘Brought his twin brother’ sink in, and I look at my aunt, my eyes wide. No, surely not, that would be too much of a coincidence. Yes, I know Elliot Masters was a doctor, but no, no, he wouldn’t come here. Hell, what if he has, and Jaxon is with him? My heart pounds in my chest at the thought as I look at my aunt again, who simply grins at me. “Oh, she has got it!” Terri laughs pointing at me, then lifts both salamis into the air and wiggles them at me. “No, you jest!” I almost shout, my hands beginning to shake. Connie glances between me and Terri, a look of innocent confusion on her face. “Am I missing something?” she asks. “Just that SS here has the chance of double pepperoni on her pizza in her future,” Terri laughs. “No, no, holy Mary mother of God, they are both here?” I ask, blinking my eyes feeling like I am about to pass out. My papa walks into the kitchen, my mother behind him, her lips bright red and swollen. “Sarah-Sofia, you are to sit next to me tonight,” Papa growls, then turns on his heels, and walks out of the kitchen, not before one last look at mama and shaking his head at her. “Mama?” I question as she breathlessly sits on a high stool. “Mama, who is the new doctor,” I ask, attempting to keep my tone normal, and failing miserably. “Erm, well,” she says looking at me. “Who is it?” I push, needing to hear the words, that the objects of my deepest darkest fantasies are here, and coming to dinner, in T-minus 15 minutes. “Dr Elliot Masters,” she looks sheepishly at me. “What the….mama! wow, just wow,” I don’t know if I should hug and kiss her or storm off, because I know what my mother is doing, she is trying to entice me away from my plans of running the family and taking up a career in the hospital. She is dangling Elliot Masters like a carrot in front of me, and now, his twin brother, the s*x rock god himself is also with him. Nervous anticipation floods through my body, as the doorbell rings, I step out with Mama to meet our guests, attempting to school my features to keep the excitement from showing. Papa walks out of his office, smelling of cigar smoke, but unusually Mama doesn’t say a word about it. Papa’s arm wraps protectively around my back, as the door opens, and looking just as hot, and sexy as they ever did, Elliot and Jaxon Masters step inside the house.
