Chapter Three Octavius told Dex what had happened with Rumpole, but he didn’t tell him about Miss Toogood. Their meeting seemed too momentous, or perhaps too improbable. He didn’t believe in love at first sight, but that’s what it felt like: love at first sight. Had he gone mad?
