chapter 1
Aria’s Point of View "Congratulations, Luna Aria. You’re a few weeks pregnant." The doctor’s words hung in the air, as if the world had been put on pause. I couldn’t breathe; I couldn’t even move. After two years with him, I was finally going to give him a child. A soft smile spread across my face, and tears traced down my cheeks. All this time, I had tried to remain calm, desperately hoping he would come to love me, but his words had always cut deep, branding me as a "weak omega," dismissing me as if I were nothing. But perhaps, if I told him I was pregnant, he might finally see me as his Luna—not a weakling. I gazed at the doctor, murmured my thanks, and rose to my feet. Gently, I wiped my tears and placed my hands over my stomach. I was done being the weak omega everyone dismissed. With this child, I would become the Luna he always wanted. As I reached my car, I managed a smile, focusing on keeping my excitement in check. It felt surreal to think I was about to become a mother—and Andrew, a father. My fingers itched to call him and share the news, but I stopped myself. It would ruin the surprise. Today was our two-year anniversary, and tonight would be the perfect moment to reveal everything. I started the car, heading home to prepare. I wanted tonight to be unforgettable, and I couldn’t risk upsetting him by being late. When I arrived, the maids greeted me and took my bags. I looked around, hoping to catch a glimpse of him, but the house was quiet. I spotted one of the maids and approached her. “Is Alpha Andrew at home?” I asked. She shook her head, politely responding, “No.” Smiling, I headed to my room, wondering where he might be. That’s when I noticed a note on the bed. I picked it up and read: "Get dressed and be on your best behavior. I’m at the hall making some arrangements. There’s a dress laid out for you on the bed; wear it and look good." I glanced at the bed and saw the dress he’d chosen for me. Joy filled me, as if, at last, he truly cared. I knew he could be difficult, but tonight I felt as if I was finally getting the grace I’d longed for. As night settled in, I put on the dress and studied my reflection. I looked beautiful, and I knew Andrew wouldn’t be able to take his eyes off me. Once I was ready, I took the pregnancy test, smiling as I imagined his reaction. I couldn’t wait to see the look on his face. --- When I arrived at the party, I scanned the crowd for Andrew, but he was nowhere to be found. Just as I was about to move, someone bumped into me, almost knocking me over. I looked up to find my stepsister, Vera, a smug grin on her face. “What’s your problem, Vera?” I demanded, my frustration clear. She just turned away with a smirk. “Oh, Aria, didn’t see you there. I thought you’d still be at home by now.” I stared at her, noting the mocking glint in her eyes. I knew she had never liked me, that she resented Andrew making me Luna instead of her. And even though I had left that life behind, she still wouldn’t let me be. I turned to walk away, only to hear her loud voice behind me. “Good luck with your anniversary, Aria. You’ll need it.” I glanced back at her briefly, then continued on, refusing to let her sour my mood. Eventually, I spotted Andrew near the stage. A smile crept across my face as I approached and placed my hands on his shoulders, but to my shock, he shrugged me off. “Andrew, is everything all right?” I asked gently, but before I could say more, he turned and grabbed my neck, his grip tight. I struggled, shocked and unable to breathe. “Andrew, stop, you’re hurting me!” I gasped, feeling myself weaken. Finally, he released me, and I stumbled back, gasping for air. I looked up at him, tears streaking down my face, trying to understand what had provoked him. “Why are you late?” he demanded coldly as I rose to my feet, bewildered. “What do you mean? I told you I was sick and went to see the pack doctor,” I replied, confused. He glared, his eyes almost red. “You’re a disgrace, Aria. How could you be so vile? After everything I’ve done for you, we’re married! Even if you wanted to mess around with another pack wolf, you could have just rejected me instead of betraying me.” I stared, my heart sinking as his words cut deep. I had no idea what he was talking about. “Andrew, what are you even saying? Can we discuss this later, at home? Today is our anniversary, and people are watching.” I glanced around, realizing that we had drawn the attention of everyone around us. He turned to his Beta. “Derek!” I watched as Derek hurried over, and at Andrew’s command, he turned on the large screen. I was left utterly confused until I saw the image—a video of me with another man, his arm around me, pressing a kiss to my forehead. I was speechless. I couldn’t remember ever allowing anyone to be that close to me. I turned to Andrew, tears blurring my vision. Just as I opened my mouth to explain, he struck me, silencing me. “You’re a disgrace. I accepted you, even as a weak omega, waited patiently for an heir. But this is how you repay me, by cavorting with someone else? You are nothing but a rogue.” His words shattered me. Why would he call me that? Why would he call me a rogue? “Andrew, please, this isn’t real. I would never betray you. I love you; you have to believe me…” But he struck me again, leaving me numb. “How can someone like you lead the Blackwave Pack as Luna? You’re a disgrace, and you’ll never be worthy of that title.” I felt my heart break as I looked up at him. Then I noticed Vera nearby, her smug smile revealing that she knew exactly what was happening. “What did you do?” I demanded, striding over to her, grabbing her by the collar. “Was this your plan, all because you wanted him to yourself?” A strong hand gripped my arm, throwing me back. I looked up, seeing Andrew standing beside Vera, his arm around her protectively. “Since you’ve chosen unfaithfulness, I stand here, before every pack member, to announce that I, Alpha Andrew of the Blackwave Pack, reject Aria as my Luna.” His words left me frozen, echoing the fears I had tried so hard to suppress. I turned to Vera, who only smiled back, victorious.
