Something Precious.

——————- The olive lace knee length dress, Laura puts on fits her body physique perfectly, as the curves that hangs on her side showcases tremendously.  She stares at the lengthy mirror admiring how beautiful the dress is, even if she got it at a very late hour, it feels like the best she would wear on a day like this.  A day that her best is getting married.  To say Laura was aghast when Georgia revealed the news would be an understatement. She felt somewhat sad and melancholy for a while, yet she couldn't hold it against her.  She wasn't jeleous that her best friend found a man who she loves and is ready to settle down, because who doesn't want that, but her reason for feeling such a way, along with Georgia not knowing how to tell her, was because of the childish promise they seemed to have made when they were little girls.  A promise that seemed to have gone a long way, of them wanting to each find a partner before any of them gets married, reason for that, so as no one would leave one another behind.  But how long could they do that? Especially when Laura can't even find herself a boyfriend.  Laura understood all these things, as instead of her to feel betrayed, she felt happy for her friend and of course, she wouldn't like to be behind someone else's setback. As she stares at mirror preparing for her best friends wedding, she notices the paleness of her knees, as she takes her cream briskly and rubs it all around her neatly shaved legs. One thing you don't want to do in France, especially when attending a wedding in a knee length dress is to go there looking all pale and hairy.  Even if she couldn't resist the temptation of the rain, she could at least do this.  Laura's eyes glance at the golden wristwatch on her wrist, taking that as her cue to leave the lounge room she is in and into the one Georgia is in, after taking an excuse to get dressed. Entering the room not far from hers, Laura sights the makeup artist filling the final touches for her friend. As she gets closer, Georgia's neatly face beat becomes more clearer, as at the sight Laura almost shed some tears.  In her entire existence of knowing Georgia she has never seen her look this beautiful and radiant. No doubt, Georgia is an extremely gorgeous French woman, but today looks different.  Would she say it is due to the excitement of her getting married or because she is on makeup? But the latter is wrong which Laura knows, as she too one day wishes for herself to be this happy, when she gets married.  Rather, if she gets married.  "My goodness.... You look extremely beautiful." Laura speaks from the bottom of her heart warming up Georgia's. "Thank you so much Loo, it wouldn't have been possible without you." Georgia takes Laura's hand in hands caressing it slowly as she expresses her gratitude, because ever since Laura heard of the news, she has tried her very best to make sure Georgia gets everything perfect for the day.  "Sil vous plait (Please), don't make me water my eyes, I took forever to put on these mascara." Laura speaks jokingly, even though there is truth in how she battled with fixing her curly eyelashes.  Georgia chuckles at her friend, extremely happy but sad at the same time, as she knows that now matter how truly happy Laura can be for her, there would still be a part of her that would have loved it to be the both of them.  So as not to ruin the moment, Georgia notices her friend's neck bare, as that doesn't suit with what she's wearing. "Where's your necklace Laura?" She asks her.  "About that, I was planning on telling you that I would have to step out for some minutes, reason why, I plan on wearing the necklace grandmother gave to me, but as you know the hook seemed to have weaken and I took it to the store for repair. I was then asked to come yesterday, but due to the arrangements for the reception, I got there late, so I plan on getting it immediately." Laura explains. "Right now?" Georgia asks surprised.  "I won't take long, also, it's not far from here." Laura adds while the makeup artist pauses her work on the bride's face to allow the two friends talk.  "But... I do have some extras with me that you could replace with." Georgia offers kindly.  "I know you would which is why if I wanted I would come to you, but you know how I cherish the necklace, and would like to wear it on your special day." Laura appreciating her kind gesture declines.  "Still Loo.... I don't want you to leave my side." Georgia pouts not wanting her best friend to leave.  "I'm not leaving you side Gia, I'll be right back I promise and if anything goes wrong... Look you have a ton of people to help you out, right before I get back." Laura explains describing Georgia's other friends that fill the room as her bride's maids.  "But you're my chief bride's maid and.... "Georgia gets cuts off by the sound of her phone ringing. "Pardon. (Excuse me)" "Hello?" Georgia answers the call hearing from an unknown number.  "Miss Georgia Fraise?" The male behind the opposite line calls.  "Yes that's me." Georgia answers carefully whilst Laura stands there interested in the conversation and also because they too haven't completed their talk.  "I'm John from Hartwarming bakery. There has been some issues with the delivery of the cake, as our van unintentionally broke down in the middle of the road and I hear you're going to be needing it this morning," John from the other line continues while Georgia hearing his words almost have an heart attack.  "What! A break down? Then find another van!" Georgia already tensed talks. "Today is my wedding John, and I can't let the cake especially to be delayed." Georgia adds while Laura takes in a deep breath of frustration, amidst all her effort for nothing to go wrong today.  Without warning, Laura takes the phone from Georgia's ear, while she stares at her dumbfounded, before Laura takes over the discussion.  "Good morning Mr John, I'm Laura the chief bride's maid. What do you say happened to your van?" She inquires.  "Good day ma'am. It's a break down." John answers.  "And you do not have any other means of transporting it to the venue?" She inquires the more.  "Not that we do not ma'am, but it would take a bit of time." John replies truthfully. Laura sighs as she meets gaze with Georgia who is now tensed, wanting to know the development of the cake situation.  "Alright John, feed me your location for me to get there right now with another van." Laura speaks while Georgia state at her friend in a state of perplexity of her words of rescue. "Alright ma'am. Thank you." John speaks as you can hear the sound of relief wash over him while he feeds her his location, and soon they hang up.  "Looks like I still have to leave you," Laura jokes lightly.  "How the hell are you goung to get a van Laura, it is their job to do so." Georgia perplexed by the whole situation voices out.  "And do you think arguing with them on that would make anything faster. More so, the jewelry shop I'm going to, there is a bakery next to it, all I have to do is pay some money to borrow their van, get someone to take cake and return it back, after all, the places are not distant according to John's explanation." Laura explains while her friend stares at her in awe.  She smiles in gratitude with her friend understanding each word at how brisk, Laura, her best friend has thought of a plan. Well she shouldn't be amazed, working as a personal assistant to one of the biggest manufacturing companies here in France, definitely one tends to know how to cut a deal with ease. Laura wastes no time as after their conversation she leaves for the jewelry shop first, hoping to be brisk about it and move to her next destination.  Taking her Mercedes, Laura gets there in less than ten minutes, with the name of the jewelry shop hanging brightly above.  'La bijouterie.' (The jewelry shop) Laura pushes the door open as the first person she sees, a smile take her lips. "Bonjour (Good morning)" She greets the worker there whom she has come to know to be, Elyse. "Bonjour Laura, how are you?" Elyse asks her gracefully. "Just give me a moment to attend to the customer here." Elyse speaks politely while Laura nods her head positively at that.  "Yes sir, I'm with you now. As I said, we have varieties of pendants you could choose from, either being silver, bronze or gold for this particular shape." Elyse addresses the customer whom Lauren didn't seem to pay any attention, as the tight schedule she has is her problem.  "A colour isn't the problem, but not having the exact pendant I am looking for." At the sound of such a voice, Laura doesn't realize when her stance changes to stare at where such a husky, yet soothing voice comes from.  As she stares to her right, her neck line becomes a tad prominent, due to the male's tallness and her stretch, but that isn't what get Laura. His jawline sharper than any face she has ever seen, with his pointed nose and one side of his thick eyebrows that can only be seen by the angle he faces.  She tries to not stare too much, by averting her gaze when she sees he picks up a call, but not before another quick glance at him. In her life Laura has never seen anyone hold such a high side profile before, though she couldn't see his full face, but with what she has seen has her drooling in his physique.  Yet it is only physical and nothing mental, as she finally summons to take her gaze away off him for good, because from her experience, handsome men, come with handsome dangers of the heart. "I'm sorry for the delay Miss Eduoard, I've been expecting you. Your necklace is finished." Elyse who now has time for her since her previous customer is on a call.  From the call the man by her side holds, Laura can't help but feel the authority coming from each sentence he lays, one such like, "Tell Mr Damon that I do not deal with petty business partners who try to embezzle funds and if he needs my attention, he should speak to my lawyer. Also, make him realize that if indeed he does try anything mischievous, I would find him and make sure he makes nothing more of his future and generations to come."  Something that shouldn't happen or be said quietly happens to Laura, as his voice sends something down her abdomen in such a public place. Something that she has never felt before.  At being conflicted on what just happened, Laura only nods at Elyse, signalling her to bring ahead her necklace, knowing her words might fail her.  Laura's knuckles soon becomes red at the amount of composure she is trying to get back, as she fails to understand how a person's voice could make her feel disheveled, either in a good way or bad one.  With Elyse coming back of the room she went in, Laura seems to have regained her composure giving her a smile, seeing her hold the necklace she dropped with her.  "And here it is. New as ever." Elyse proudly speaks handing it over to Laura.  Laura's fingers stroke through the chain and down the pendant with a smile taking over her lips, sitting at the silver necklace her grandmother gave to her.  One which is more precious than anything she owns. It all seems surreal, as Laura isn't the only one who has eyes on the necklace, but a familiar male standing close to her, as his gaze stays hard on the woman holding a necklace he has been to countries searching for.  A necklace that also has a meaning to him.  Out of instinct the male standing beside her doesn't realise when his voice comes through, stopping Laura in her action. "Excuse me Miss?" ————————
