“It is confirmed that billionaire, and CEO of A and A corporation, Adrian Alimson is off the market by being engaged with a French born, known to be Laura Eduoard,” Laura turns off the news with a sigh of hearing the same thing repeatedly for the past day on every news station in New York, about she and Adrian’s relationship. Speaking of relationships, Adrian and Laura’s bond seems to growing every single day, for if the two is not going on dinner dates, they are attending a party together, such that their Familiarity is no longer new to each other. Georgia whom sit on the couch in Laura’s suite let’s out a mocking chuckle to her best friend, sighting her appearance of tiredness and frustration. “It’s not your real wedding and you are already exhausted,” Georgia speaks. “I certainly am Georgia, and how won’t I be? Spa today, shopping tomorrow, hair next week, appointments here and there all with reasons to getting married to Adrian, and from who? His family.” Laura rants profusely, taking Georgia to only chuckle the more. “Getting married to Adrian is more stressful than I envisaged.” Laura adds. “Look at him Laura, what did you expect? He’s a billionaire, influential, knows a hell lot of people, famous to say. Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Georgia reminds her friend of her past statement to her. “I know, and you know my only reason for doing this,” Laura talks, taking her gaze to meet Georgia while she sits on the coach with her. Laura rests her head on Georgia’s lap, having her friend caress her temple lightly, as ever since Georgia arrived from her honeymoon, she is by Laura’s side at every moment, knowing her best friend is about to get married. “I’m beginning to doubt if that is your only reason,” Georgia speaks taking Laura to raise her head from her lap. “And what are you insinuating?” Laura questions her friend. “You are becoming fond of him,” Georgia tells her friend honestly. “Of course I am, and I should for I will be living with him for a year.” Laura says. “Exactly my point Laura, for a year, for that you shouldn’t get attached.” Georgia warns her friend. “I’m not getting attached,” Laura responds, as her own words do not sound convincing to herself. “Laura,” Georgia calls her friend. “I understand you clearly and I want you to know that I support your every decision, I’m only looking out for you, for I know the kind of man Such as Adrian is. They are not one to settle down for long, so have it at the back of your mind that your relationship should be based on just your contract. Adrian is not a one woman man.” Georgia tells her friend, realizing the attachment she is beginning to have with Adrian. “Yes I know it is hard with his handsomeness, charisma and approach, but you need to know how to retract yourself when you feel your heart beginning to tell you other wise,” Georgia advises her friend calmly while staring at her in sense of sympathy, for if Georgia can, she will build the perfect man for Laura, knowing she deserves it. “I hear you Georgia. I hear you.” Laura answers not bothering to argue with Georgia whom knows her to the bone. ———————— In less than a week Laura will be walking down the aisle to Adrian, a man whom when she first met was intrigued by his aura, then came to dislike him only to get to know him and now, Laura can not quite pinpoint what her feelings for Adrian is at the moment. Laura stares at her self in the mirror, while wearing a blue corset tie back formal reception dress. Her hair packed in a bun, with her skin glowing like the morning sun from the various spas and treatments her body has been receiving for the past week, while she walks out of the changing room to have six pairs of eyes waiting for her. Each of their gazes wide in awe of the beauty in the dress Laura wears, which hugs her body perfectly, such that Fiona, Aubrey and Georgia remain speechless for a second. “I knew you were the one for Adrian the moment I set my eyes on you.” Fiona whom is given a discharged leave for her grandson’s wedding says, taking Laura to cover in crimson of the tingling feeling that envelops her. “You look beautiful Laura,” Aubrey speaks with utmost sincerity. “Now I’m jealous, cause you’re going to look even more beautiful than I was.” Of course Georgia is to make such a statement, taking Laura to chuckle, and if there isn’t a panting racing beat of Laura’s heart filled with guilt, this will indeed be the perfect moment of her wedding. Laura seems to make up her mind for if this is a contract marriage between she and Adrian, she is willing to enjoy every aspect of it, and whatever comes after, Laura is willing to face it. Aubrey and Georgia leave the room to remain, Fiona and Laura, taking Laura to seat with Fiona, pending the two arrive. “Laura,” Fiona calls Laura, taking her attention to move to her. “Thank you for coming into Adrian’s life,” Fiona begins, taking a weak smile to form Laura’s lips. “Just like I told you before, Adrian is not an easy man to be with, but I believe with the right woman, she can put him right.” Fiona adds. “I wish to be here while you two have your kids and you teach Adrian to be better, but unfortunately my six months of living is not guaranteed, but I know you…” “What do you mean your six months is not guaranteed Fiona? I envisaged…” Laura begins with her gaze becoming perplexed. “Yes Laura, I had a mini crisis some weeks ago and my doctor informed me that I might not live up to my six months, based on my heart deteriorating,” Fiona tells Laura as her gaze becomes weak. “I’m so sorry Fiona…I…I’m so sorry,” Laura’s words come in stutter as her heart breaks. “Does Adrian know?” Laura inquires from the aged woman. “None of them know Laura and I want us to keep it that way,” Fiona gaze at Laura vividly. “They have tried their best Laura, and I can not keep bothering them. Now that you and Adrian will begin your life now, you will have your family, I can not keep being the one everyone worries about…” “You’re not a bother Fiona. You are not.” Laura speaks her words sincerely. “I hear you, but that is not what I’m trying to tell you Laura,” Fiona says, perking Laura’s ears. “You may not have noticed with how well Adrian covers his emotions, but Adrian needs love,” Laura’s gaze perplexes the more at Fiona’s words. “I don’t understand,” Laura inquires from Fiona. “Do you recall what I told you when you visited me at my ward before you informed me of you and Adrian’s relationship?” Fiona questions Laura taking her to recall her conversation between she and Fiona, when she inquired why Adrian solves his misadventures himself. “Yes I do,” Laura answers. “After Adrian’s parents died, Adrian’s childhood sifted and he became arrogant, wouldn’t talk to anyone except Aubrey. I tired my best to give him all he needed but it wasn’t enough for the bond he had with his parents could never be replaced. Adrian went into college and began drugs, along with ladies whom never lasted a week with him.” Laura’s gaze goes wide hearing Fiona’s words. “Stunning to everyone, Adrian had a girlfriend whom he loved dearly, despite his previous acts, fortunately he found Jessica whom stopped him from the drugs he took and Adrian turned a new leaf. I don’t know the whole story, but unfortunately, Jessica cheated on Adrian with a friend whom he caught her with,” Fiona continues. “Having loved Jessica extremely, Adrian went back to his old habits of never lasting a woman more than a week, but fortunately, he didn’t go back to drugs. With what happened to him, Adrian chose to believe that loving a woman eventually ends up making one weak, for that I urge you to understand with him when such acts resurfaces from him. All he needs is love and I promise you Laura, Adrian will be the sweetest and most caring person you have ever know.”
