Going Against The Beast/An Idiotic Comment

2140 Words
The beast stood there watching Kazmiyah in aggressive dominance. With a loud bark, its head lurched forward, and immediately, two beasts came darting out from behind the large lycan-like beast.     Kazmiyah was shocked to see how agile these creatures were. Sure, the feral and wildlings were always a fast and strong breed. However, this species in particular was significantly different in stature and movement. The first one leaped forward to attack. It was barely an inch off of Kazmiyah before she uppercut the beast, sending it flying back a few feet. Just before the other beast reached her, she pulled out her two-edged spear from Pământul.     The curved tip-end of the blade barely left its hidden sheath when she swung the blade at the beast slicing through its abdomen. She pushed her hand forward and immediately the beast was blown back, knocking into the next beast that was still trying to recover from her hit.     “Going to have to come a little better than that, hon,” She mocked the beast standing there in the distance. Its gaze never left her, and its guttural growl only became a little louder than before. Though, had she not known any better, Kazmiyah could have sworn that she saw a grin on the beast’s face.  “What are you up to?” She muttered just as three more came charging.     Pushing the question to the back of her mind, Kazmiyah went into a warrior state, her two-edged moon spear igniting with the moon runes on the handle. She swung the blade in attack, the blade’s tip so sharp it whistled through the air as it landed on its target. The lightweight weapon matched the gliding speed of Kazmiyah’s as she gracefully moved with unmatched agility and force; some beasts were stronger than others-those being the ones that she’d have to use the force of her psychokinesis. With every moment that passed the Alpha of the beast commanded more of the ferals and wildlings Kazmiyah’s way.     Gradually, Kazmiyah began to feel her power heightening in an overwhelming sense, her mind starting to fritz. She felt the heat of her eyes flashing over momentarily, frightening her. This split second was all that it took to distract her enough for one of the ferals to land a strike at her abdomen.      “Agh!” Kazmiyah screamed in pain when the beast clamped down over her arm. As the beast’s death grip, Kazmiyah summoned the power of her sorcery. “Essorer!” She summoned and immediately after, the beast howled in agony, a large snap sounding throughout the area as a result of the beast’s bones breaking and mangling right before her eyes. “Alright!” She growled, her body suddenly lifting into the air as she levitated toward the Alpha. “Enough!” A magnetic sound warbled throughout the forest ground and immediately, over a dozen of the beasts behind the Alpha were thrown back and obliterated. “Impossible!” She hissed, seeing the Alpha still standing there with not one bruise upon it. It was as if her strike ricocheted off of some barrier that was protecting the beast and slammed into the creatures behind it.      “Miyah!” Falcon connected to Kazmiyah.     Though hearing his voice, Kazmiyah dared not look away from the Alpha beast as this creature never stopped eyeing her.      ‘Who are you?’ She thought to herself as she watched the Alpha beast watch unflinchingly. Even in Falcon and his pack gunning for the Alpha, it did not show an ounce of fear or anxiety. No, the beast just stood there and then without warning emitted a low growl. Kazmiyah knew then that this Alpha was calling its minions back to him.     The beasts retreated to the Alpha feral’s side, and without warning, they suddenly sank back into the forest wood and disappeared.      “Miyah!” Falcon’s approached in Nox's form as Kazmiyah descended to the ground, her gaze never leaving the spot where the hoard once was. “Are you alright?” Kazmiyah didn’t answer right away. “Miyah!?” He looked her over. “You’ve been hurt!”      “I’m fine, Con,” Kazmiyah touched her hand to her mate’s large form. “I’ll be fine,” She looked down at the wound on her arm. It usually took a little longer for inhuman on inhuman wounds to heal, but she still should have healed by now. Anxiously, she returned her gaze to the spot where the Alpha and his beasts once were. “But you were right,” She said. “These beasts...they’re not normal.” ***************************************     “So what happened out there today?”      After the attack, Falcon immediately alerted Warren and they all had a sit-down. Warren even requested the presence of Abigail and Varick.     “To put it in the simplest terms, dad, I was attacked,” Kazmiyah shrugged. “I...those beasts, they were nothing like what we’ve faced in the past.”     “Where was your shield, Miyah?” Falcon asked frustratedly. “You always have a shield when you’re out there! Why wasn’t it up?”     “Because, Con, I was heading back into town when they struck,” Kazmiyah reasoned, seeing the concern across her mate’s face. “But I’m fine, okay?” She took his hand, but he didn’t say anything, his glare steadily on her. “Okay?” She reiterated, pressing him to answer.     Falcon took a deep breath and pulled away from Kazmiyah, still frustrated. “Yeah,” He simply returned before averting his gaze.     Kazmiyah was surprised by his sudden stand-offish demeanor. She stared at Falcon, thinking that he’d eventually feel the heat of her gaze on him and would return his attention to her. He didn’t. She grimaced, grinding her teeth before she shifted her eyes on her father again.     “Can you tell us anything else about the beasts that you encountered?” Varick asked. “I daresay, this is turning out to be quite an interesting little gathering.”      With a sigh, Kazmiyah replied, shaking her head. “They were larger and...more organized. The alpha had complete and utter control of not only the ferals but the wildlings as well. It was...it was a very odd thing to see.”     “Interesting,” Varick returned.      “What was more interesting,” Kazmiyah replied, “Was that this beast...this Alpha feral that they were listening to...it was significantly larger than its counterparts and...far more menacing in nature.”     “She’s right,” Falcon finally spoke up. “The pack did not get the chance to engage but...even when the creature saw us, it did not flinch.”     “Maybe, it was trying to test your strength,” Abigail suggested as she tended to Kazmiyah’s wound-a wound that still had not fully healed over the last half-hour. She took a deep look at the gash in Kazmiyah’s arm. “Was this the beast that did this to you?” Abigail asked. “The alpha?”      Shaking her head, Kazmiyah looked down at the scar. “It was one of the smaller ones. They’re way stronger than I recall the others that we’ve faced in the past being,” She remarked. “Do you think it’s poisoned or something? The wound, I mean.”      Abigail continued to survey the gauge in her niece’s arm. “No, love. I sense no poison-at least not one that is fatal. However, there is some sort of venom in your arm that has slowed your healing ability down significantly,” Abigail replied. “Even with my power, you still may have to take it easy with this arm,” Abigail was quite surprised and very intrigued by the spectacle of Kazmiyah’s wound. “Maybe...don’t be visiting the forest any time soon either?” Abigail further suggested.     “Couldn’t have said it better myself,” Falcon grumbled.      Kazmiyah snapped her gaze over to her mate, glowering in irritation at his snide remark before rolling her eyes. “I’ll try to take it easy, but I make no promises.”     “What do you mean, you’ll make no promises!?” Falcon barked. “You were attacked back there, Miyah! It’d be idiotic for you to return! Especially not knowing what we’re facing.”     Kazmiyah angrily turned around to face Falcon. “Idiotic?” She hissed.     “Uhm, I think maybe we should cut this little meeting short,” Abigail interjected as she finished Kazmiyah’s arm.      “Yea, sure,” Warren agreed. He didn’t like the way this conversation was going but he also did not feel it his place to intervene-not between two mates.  He kissed Kazmiyah’s head. “I am glad that you’re alright, sweetheart. Just...be careful from now on.”      “Dad, I promise that I am. It’s just-”     “Well then be even more careful,” He pressed. “I don’t think I could handle losing you a third time.” He then delved into her mind.      “I promise dad,” Kazmiyah smiled.     After everyone dispersed, Falcon watched as Kazmiyah started to head off down the street. “Where are you going?” He asked.     “I’m walking home.”     “No, you’re getting in the car,” Falcon demanded.      “Falcon, my legs aren’t broken,” Kazmiyah replied.     “I don’t care,” He growled. “Get...in the car, Miyah.”     Reluctantly, she did as she was told, getting into the passenger seat. After she got herself situated, Falcon slammed the car door shut. Kazmiyah incredulously looked at him when he got into the car.     “Was that necessary?” Falcon slammed his door shut and started the car before they dug off into the road to head home. “Falcon!”     “What, Miyah!” He griped.     “Lower your tone when you’re talking to me!” Kazmiyah snapped.      “I will not!” Falcon hissed in defiance.      “I’m not just one of your pack members!” Kazmiyah stated in anger. “You can’t-”     “No!” He slammed on the brakes. “You’re not!” He growled, his eyes dilating in anger. “You are worth so much more to me than that, Miyah! And you know how much my pack means to me! You-” He became so angry, he couldn’t finish his sentence, slamming his fist down onto the steering wheel, breaking it down. “Miyah, I’ve lost you...twice already. I get it, I get that you are some powerful goddess but even you need protection sometimes. Even you have to be careful.” He reasoned.      Kazmiyah sighed and dropped her head back against her seat. “Con, I...I am not trying to be reckless. I just...I want to fix this thing going on with my mother, and my aunt. Sometimes, the packhouse is too...loud...I cannot think straight and...I just-”     “Then I will empty the entire house if you wish it, Miyah,” Falcon grabbed her hand. “And they will gladly oblige.”     “That’s just it, Con, I-I don’t want to put anyone through the trouble of such inconvenience. I-”     “Then I will build you your own space, away from everyone else-from the packhouse if you desire, Miyah. I’d do anything for you,” He said. “Do...do you want to move out of the packhouse? Is that what you’re saying-”     “No, no, no!” Kazmiyah quickly clarified. “I love living there. I love the pack, Falcon, and I’d never take you away from them.”     “Then tell me...what you need from me, baby,” Falcon pressed.      Kazmiyah suddenly felt foolish because of how stubborn she was being. She realized that Falcon was concerned for her well-being, and Kazmiyah was well aware that he had every right to be when considering her track record of death. She imagined that he only felt about her what she felt for him; concern.     “I’m sorry, Con.” She took his hand and laid it on her lap as she fiddled with his significantly larger fingers. “I don’t want to argue with you about this.”     “Then let’s talk instead,” He smiled, and leaned over, his head pressing against her forehead.      Kazmiyah nodded, returning his suddenly up-turned expression with a small grin of her own. “Okay...we’re also going to talk about that little idiotic comment you made back there too...aren’t we?” She said with a hint of sarcasm.     Falcon was well aware that that wasn’t up for debate. He cleared his throat and grimaced. “Do we have to?”     “Yeah,” Kazmiyah chuckled against his lips as she touched melded hers to his, while her hand outreached towards the steering wheel. With a wave of her hand, it reformed. “Let’s go home.”
