She’s hired. Out of all those applicants, Matt Vallejo believed in her, and as what her kuya said, Matt said very clearly that it was not because she was Limuel’s sister. It was because he saw a potential in her, that she’s good. That she can write his version of his life story. She will be writing Matt Vallejo’s biography!
You have to be very careful, please.”
Eh dun sya kumportable eh.
Limeul gathered the papers in his hands.
Napatikhim ang kuya, “thank you, Chelsie.
Her brother said she will be staying with Matt in a beach villa exclusively maybe for a month or two. Uuwi naman siya tuwing weekends.
Maybe like Limuel explained, Matt wanted her to be focused, to write in a calming environment so she can finish her job fast. It seemed like the best writing place, no distraction…walang iisipin kung may lilinisin, kung may huhugasan na plato o lalabhan o kung ano pang dapat na itulong niya sa mama niya para asikasuhin ito.
So maybe she’ll bring some of her ample and normal swimming shorts, maybe a comfy t-shirt. She has to bring maybe at least one blanket for sleeping. She has no idea what Matt’s beach villa would be like. Would it be like in the movies?
Except that the plot involves her just writing Matt’s life in a piece of paper in solitary moments glued to her laptop. But that would be magic by itself, the solace she would find herself most endearing.
Of course, she wouldn’t by any inkling will find herself to be falling in love with a Matt Vallejo. It’s almost close to impossible – the chances are almost laughable.
She envisioned herself just finishing the task as solidly as possible. She has to do her best. So instead, she ran her hands in her stash of books, found any biography or autobiography books she can find. She has to read, and read, and learn and learn…
And they all proceeded with their family dinner in their usual tone.
UNTIL THAT DAY ARRIVED, in a slice of a white sports car and dashing guy in Rayban shades, in his comfy blue hued shirt and khaki pants, Matt Vallejo emerged in front of their house.
“I have to bring her to a quick tour,” simpleng paliwanag lang ni Matt sa kuya niya. She is left to stand there wide eyed, with that brooding and authorative handsome figure infront of their rusty blue gate.
She didn’t know why, but something inside her was being moved, na para bang kinakabahan siya.
For the first time, in a few years, she has felt so alive. Like her pulse was beating wild, in excitement for the things to come.
Indeed, she has never been so alive. She plastered a big smile in her face. “Thank you sa opportunity na ‘to,” she mumbled and her eyes crossed across him. He motioned for her to sit, her whole family watching from the gate.
“Are you ready?” he asked.
“Ah, yes…” and she saw him turn around, in the coolest slow-mo flick of her life, Matt Vallejo dropped his head for awhile to turn the ignition on. It was like a magazine flicking in motion infront of her. He had this classic ethereal vibe, his jaw like Greek god, just exuding manly class.
And with an open ceiling car, they made through the fast lane express of the highway to avoid traffic, the open street stretched, turning into a more secluded and posh street, then curving down into the lane which she can view the beach street far away.
The weather cooled down, blessing them with cool air in the summer breeze. It felt like in the movies.
“So Chelsie, is everything okay?” aniya ng katabi na muntik na niyang kalimutan na katabi niya pala dahil nasuyo ang titig niya sa karagatan mula sa di kalayuan.
“All is fine…” medyo hindi pa niya masabi ngunit kinalaunan ay napa-usal niya, “Mabuti naman, Matt.” Matt, it was still awkward in her mouth, gusto niya itong tawaging sir.
“This is why I chose you, you don’t forget my instructions,” Matt glanced at her with a contented smile, just very briefly but it warmed her heart.
Warmed just like when an employer compliments an employee…yun lang yun, eksplanasyon niya sa sarili dahil hindi rin niya naintindihan kung bakit nag warm ang puso niya.
It was still too early, yet her imagination and mind has been exploding with excitement and ideas. What else will be in store for her?
The wind touched and kissed her more, flowing strands of her hair and playing in the wind, she wished she brought shades with her.
She tried to crane her neck, to glance back at Matt who is consciously driving in the road. But she has to look away, baka maisip pa nito na crush niya ito. Mahirap na!
