Chapter 27

1321 Words
She cant get a hold of Limuel. She was beginning to get worried along with her parents. She just sighed staring at the screen of the computer. Plus, in her free time, she can continue to write. Matt was kind enough to be with her the whole day, just generally guiding her about the papers. He seemed busy as well in his laptop, parang naka-concentrate talaga ito at marami din itong tinatapos. Just took some few minutes break at balik na naman ito sa desk nito. He almost forgot his lunch kung hindi man lang niya pinaalala. She wondered what he was thinking, what he must feel, doing all of this. Naawa siya dito kaya napapayag na rin siyang tulungan man lang ito, like just sifting some calls through the phone. Just the basics, hindi naman stressful talaga. It made her feel inferior again, back to her place. But she wanted to trust Matt…that everything will be okay between them despite what has happened. But will it be? She doesn’t know anymore. Just glancing at him from her side eye makes her suddenly have some butterflies flinching inside her stomach. Gosh, what is this she’s feeling? So she tried to concentrated in her screen again. Good thing, she was mesmerized at nasapian siya ng lakas na magsulat. She didn’t realize the time anymore, she was just typing, feeling the sync in her hands, flowing, making her alive again. It was in those moments that she will forget her problems in her life. And it was Matt’s world, she was tracing down with her words. Her heart warmed, but ached at the same time. Why would she feel this way though? It was scary and exciting to her at the same time. All these emotions are new but raw. It was Matt. “It’s dinner time,” he aired, he was grinning a bit. Like he was amused and happy at the same time. “What do you want for dinner? Let’s grab a bite,” hinaplos nito ng saglit ang tiyan nito. She was surprised, ang ini-expect niya kasi after ng work ay uuwi na siya. Pero mukhang inaya na siya nito ng dinner at ihahatid rin. Who wouldn’t want a free dinner, right? And a free ride home. Naku! Matt seemed very pleased with her nod, he seemed to be in a good mood while driving. They ended up in a pasta restaurant. They ordered their preferred meal pasta with fresh juices. Matt was across the table, but it felt like he was glowing, even though he had a full day of work. Does he feel what she feels too? Sometimes, she felt calm too, and sometimes just internally happy in his presence. And she felt more alive with him, more in sync with the world, having all these new experiences. “I’m grateful, that you’re still with me Chelsie. I hope Limuel is okay though.” “Ako rin, medyo nag-aalala na kay kuya.” Sang-ayon niya. “If ever you need any help, don’t hesitate telling me. Whatever is in your mind, okay?” Napatango siya. “You too,” she replied, which made him chuckle a bit. She felt more comfortable as the minutes goes by, with Matt telling her some opinions or random stories. It was helping her get through what has happened between them. At least for now. Hinatid rin siya nito pauwi. And when she was about to get off the car, tinawag nito ang pansin niya. “Chelsie, wait-“ anito, hinabol siya ng tinig nito. “Y-yes?” her eyes glistened, as she fumbled for any words to say. Nakayuko siya, peeking through the car window just watching how adorable and handsome Matt is and how she cant believe how close they’ve gotten and the time they have spent together each day makes her more closer to him. “Thank you, you’re a life saver. And I really wish for you to have the best, I really do.” She was quite surprised, and taken back. She knew that he meant her well. But it flashed back again in her mind. “You kissed me first, Matt!” she suddenly blurted out, with an anguished tone in her voice, a face that pointed out dissatisfaction. To her guilt, embarrassment and surprise ay napatakbo siya palayo ng kotse papasok sa bahay at patakbo ulit sa kuwarto niya. Sinapo niya ang dibdib niya. It was beating so fast. Gosh, why did she tell him that? Is she blaming him? She just destroyed the whole night that’s for sure. It was final, after this week ay mag re-resign na talaga siya. But just as she thought of that, it seemed that the resposibilty was waving back at her. The bills, kung anong obligasyon niya bilang anak… She sighed at the thought of it. She got nothing to do but to apologize. To her surprise, she got a call from Matt. Nangingimi man ay sinagot niya ang tawag. “Look, I’m sorry,” her voice was bleak. “Come out,” he aired. “Come out?” usal niya. Napasilip siya sa bintana ng kuwarto niya. It seemed like his car was really still outside. “B-bakit?” she began to get nervous. Baka gusto siyang pagalitan. “I want to talk to you, I cant go home that we’re like this.” She sighed, and maybe he heard that because he followed up with a firm ‘please’. “I’m alright,” usal niya. “Please go home, Matt.” “I was freaking so worried about you, when you left the beach house, nung nawala ka saglit. I called you many times, texted you, and I was hurt that you didn’t respond.” After hearing that, she gasped a bit, sinapo ang dibdib niya. Mas mabilis na ulit ang t***k ng puso niya. “I’m really sorry, Matt. Please umuwi ka na.” “Yes I kissed you, but you didn’t stop me, Chelsie.” She bit her lips. She felt her eyes has misted. “I wanted to be loved, I told you already,” she aired, still peeking through the window. Still seeing him from afar. Oh how much she just wanted to run towards him again. “Not by anyone else, but by you…” Natahimik ang linya. “I’m sorry,” nakagat niya ulit ang labi niya. “You don’t have to be sorry, you’re right this is my fault.” Ana ng nasa kabilang linya. “No, it’s not.” “I will badly hurt you, and I don’t want that to happen,” anito.
