Yan Hao was stunned hearing what Zhi Wen, the real name of the one who assassinates Yan Hao, said. He admitted that he was the real one and not the one who was lying unconscious in one of the Manor's rooms.
"You're lying." Yan Hao said. "Everyone in Du Manor was infested by the plague brought by a demon a few days ago. You can't attack me since your limbs are bound so you're trying to trick me by words."
Zhi Wen chuckled. "Trick you? Did you kill him already? My, my. I knew you have feelings for Du-Ning Jing so you might be thinking that I am using her only son to trick you. You never know what her son looked like but with just one glance, you could see the resemblance."
Yan Hao thought of the face of the man but all he could remember was a very disturbing image of the man's erotic face. Yan Hao wanted to smack his face from his imagination.
Yan Hao was about to answer Zhi Wen when Yan Li leaned closer and whispered. "Yan Li confirmed today that the Du clan was wiped out yet Ning Jing's son, Du Jizhan, whose body was never found among the corpses. He is currently missing."
Yan Hao froze then looked into Zhi Wen who was grinning. "I found the lost child in the road, traveling for days from North asking where to find a certain man to sought protection. Well, guess that man he was looking for was the one who was going to kill him." Zhi Wen laughed and Yan Hao couldn't find words to say.
There was no way it was Ning Jing's son. Yan Hao would never accept it after everything he did to the man. There was no way he was.
"He admitted it himself. How could—"
"I placed a spell on him that made him act like that." Zhi Wen interrupted.
Yan Hao was itching to kill the man.
"Tell me who sent you to kill me?" Yan Hao asked before he could kill the man himself. f**k about Yan Hao's plan on making his murderer live and made him as his slave for the rest of his life. Yan Hao couldn't imagine himself doing what he planned to do to Zhi Wen the way he did to the other one. He could feel his body shivered in a weird unpleasant feeling.
"Was it the Ju twins?" Yan Hao asked.
Zhi Wen stretched his lips. "No one. You just piss me off."
Yan Hao would not believe Zhi Wen. "Why? You would kill without a reason?"
"I said you piss me off. That's enough reason."
"You're kidding."
Zhi Wen chuckled.
"You killed five of my guards!" Yan Hao exclaimed.
"So? No one lives forever, they will die eventually."
"Not in your hands." Yan Hao grabbed Yan Li's sword from its sheath and pointed it to Zhi Wen.
"You're crazy." Yan Hao said. He knew Zhi Wen would never tell Yan Hao who wanted to get rid of him. He was so pissed that another word from Zhi Wen would send his head flying out from his neck.
"Well, they're already dead." Zhi Wen looked straight in Yan Hao's eyes as if he was challenging him to swing the sword.
"Kill him." Yan Hao said to Xiao Rong then he gave the sword back to Yan Li before spinning around and walked back to the room where he went out.
His pace increases as every second passed until he reached the door and pushed it open. The man was still laying at the same position Yan Hao left him. Yan Hao pulled the blindfold from the man and scanned his face. Yan Hao wanted thunder to rain down to earth and kill him. Despite the bruise on the man's face, Yan Hao still saw how he inherits Ning Jing's shape of her face and lips.
It was indeed Du Jizhan.
Yan Hao checked Du Jizhan's pulse and he felt glad that he was fine. Yan Hao was the one who cleaned Du Jizhan before calling their physician. Yan Hao was looking at the physician then to Du Jizhan while the physician was checking the pulse.
She then turned to Yan Hao in surprise before letting go of Du Jizhan's hand with a light blush painted on her cheeks. Yan Hao was trying to stay poker-faced thinking that the physician knew what he did to Du Jizhan.
"Young master, the patient is suffering from dehydration, hunger, fatigue, stress, and emotional trauma. Possibly, he would wake up in a disoriented state for a few days before he can gather himself depending on his surroundings and the people around."
Yan Hao felt dejected and couldn't help but blame himself. The physician took care of Du Jizhan's condition and Yan Hao requested that he would be the one to take care of Du Jizhan, the one who would let him drink his medicine and sometimes, Yan Hao would only sit on the chair and stare at Du Jizhan making him remember those memories of Ning Jing and him. Yan Hao also occasionally talks to the sleeping Du Jizhan and it went on for four days.
Du Jizhan opened his heavy eyes and grunted, feeling his throat dry and he badly needed water. He coughed and it woke Yan Hao who was sleeping on the sedan. Yan Hao stood up immediately and attended to Du Jizhan. He was stunned for a moment seeing how his eyes looked like Ning Jing's.
"Water." Du Jizhan managed and Yan Hao instantly fetched a cup of water for Du Jizhan and helped him drink it.
After three cups, Du Jizhan finally had enough and thanked Yan Hao.
"Where am I?" Du Jizhan asked and looked at Yan Hao.
"Yan Manor." Yan Hao answered and Du Jizhan couldn't believe it. He didn't know how he got there. He just remembered being assaulted and now he was in the Manor.
Du Jizhan couldn't stop himself from crying when all the frustrations and what happened to his family came back to him like a tragic movie playing in his mind.
Yan Hao was startled when Du Jizhan started crying making him feel so guilty. He was hurting to watch the man crying so he pulled him in his chest and tried to comfort him.
Yan Hao thought if Ning Jing sent Du Jizhan here to Yan Hao. Now, he couldn't even look straight into Du Jizhan's eyes without recalling what terrible things he did to the man.
Even he couldn't face Ning Jing in his next life.
