The morning sun was crisp and golden, streaming through the cabin’s windows as I tied my hair into a sleek ponytail. Today was the day we’d venture into town, and for the first time in years, I actually really cared about how I looked. I ran my hands over the new blouse I’d bought, its deep burgundy fabric soft against my skin, and paired it with fitted jeans and ankle boots.
