It had been a few days since I’d last come to town, and today, I had a meeting with Dan at the diner. I wasn’t thrilled about it—after all, it was the place that always felt too small and too much like a relic from my past. But the truth was, it was one of the few places in town where you could actually get decent coffee. Amber was working again, and I knew that if she was there, it wouldn’t be a peaceful meeting.
