Bethany's POV: July 20th Today is my orientation at Georgetown University, I'm back in Washington DC now and will be moving into my dorm next month to start. Over the past month and a half, I enjoyed spending time with my friends and family in New York. Before going to his 6 months program, my brother went on a little road trip with our friends. Mom moved to California to be with Dave, I'm meeting her tomorrow so we can go on our two weeks trip to Europe in a couple of days. Dave isn't coming with us, he has to work and even asked for my blessing to propose to my mother before Christmas. Of course, I said yes, mom deserved all the happiness in the world. My orientation is at 9 am instead of 10 am, I live about a ten-minute drive from campus without traffic, it's 8 am now. My phone rings, and I answer, "hello?" "Good luck today Beth, I'm already missing you", Linzey whines. I laugh, "thanks, how was your orientation?" She had her orientation at New York University yesterday. It's been a few days since we last chatted. "Good, since the pack is so far from the city I decided to stay on campus for the first year, Duncan will visit as much as he likes", she explains. Oh right, Tyler isn't going to get the alpha position until like he is in his mid-twenties or something, dad is still going strong. "Carter was here yesterday, he asked the alpha about you", she adds. Since I left Carter has been giving me space and hasn't contacted me, not even once. "Oh." "Your father told him you're doing fine and is excited to start university." "That I am", I chuckle. "Send pictures when you get to campus I'm excited to see more." "I will." "Well, I better leave for you to get ready, text me." She hangs up. I'm already dressed. The bills are paid until next month when I move out and into my dorm. I have to pick up Darcy on my way to campus, she doesn't live too far away, and her boyfriend, Jace got into Princeton University so the distance will not be so far. I'm excited to see Damon again, I wonder if he's dating anyone now? ___ "Hey, I missed you", Darcy smiles when she gets into the car. "I missed you too, how is your summer going?" "Summer job sucks, but at least I can make extra cash to keep up with my expensive buying", she shrugs. I nod, she does have a habit of spending money on expensive stuff. "How's Jace?" "He's good, his orientation is next month before classes begin, he's been working with his father at their auto shop before going off to Princeton", she explains. I nod. "We plan on going on a trip to Hawaii at the end of the month", she adds. I drive to the huge campus and park near the administration building, there are people walking about but I spot a group of people at the entrance of the building looking lost, I guess that's the freshman group. When I get out of the car I put on my sunglasses, this heat is killing me. "Wow, it's more huge than on than I can remember. Remember we drove passed here for a school trip in the 9th grade?" Darcy states. "Yeah, I guess they upgraded from since then, it was my dream to attend here and now that I'm here it feels so Deja vu", I agree. "It is Deja Vu, let's join the others." It's 8:45 am. I see a few familiar faces from the schools around the city from sports competitions and stuff. "I love your bag", a girl comments, looking at my Prada bag. She's wearing glasses and not the nerdy stereotypical one. It suits her. "Thanks, it was a gift." From Tyler before he left. "You're so lucky, my name is Dahlia, and my major is biological physics", she introduces herself. "My name is Bethany and this is my friend Darcy, my major is still undetermined", I reply. "Well you got time to think about what you want o study", she states. "I'll be studying computer science, I love working with technology and stuff", Darcy says. "Wow, you must be a genius to get into computer science." She shrugs. "Welcome to Georgetown University, I'm Mr. Wilson your guide for today's orientation and your guidance counselor", a man with gray hair addresses us, "we got a lot to cover this morning so let's start with the building you'll be visiting often." We enter the huge building. "Georgetown University was founded by....." 2 hour later "We'll take lunch now and regroup in one hour", Mr. Wilson states as we just pass the field where soccer practice and games take place. "Didn't you get accepted here on a scholarship?" I whisper to Darcy. "Yeah tennis, the tryout is Saturday before classes begin", she nods. "Maybe I should try out for a sport, how about soccer?" "You might kick people 'accidentally'." "Track and field?" "Do you run?" "My private school for physical education we had to run like two miles." "Damn." No way I'm telling her I'm a werewolf with super speed. "I think rowing would be good, I;m sure they need muscles like yours", Dahlia states. I nod. Swimming is out of the question, I did it last year at school I'm not going back. "Are you joining any sport?" I ask her. "No way, my sports day is over, I'll join a physics club or something." "Nerd", a guy coughs and a few persons in earshot laughs. "I'm starving let's go eat", Darcy says. We go to the on-campus cafe where they serve food and drinks, students come here all the time to relax or study. Summer classes are still in progress so there are a good bit of people here. "Maybe I should get a job here instead at least I wouldn't have to travel to get to work", Darcy states. "And when you're a student you get a discount and employer's time off", Dahlia informs her. "I'm signing up right now and when I come back next month I'll start the same day", she goes to find the manager. I shake my head and find a booth for us. "I'll see you in one hour, I want to explore the library more", Dahlia leaves. We get our badges so we can get access to resources with no additional fee. Darcy comes to be ten minutes later with a smile on her face, "I'm in, I get the job." She isn't staying on campus since she doesn't live far and her family can always pick her up after late evening classes, but she promised we can have a sleepover in my dorm during the semester. "What about your other job?" "I'll quit once classes begin", she shrugs. We order burgers and fries to eat. **** "I'm so tired", Darcy yawns once the orientation is over, we'll collect our packages when we get to campus to move in on August 20th. "Me too, but we're still on for next year right?" "Yes, we'll look for an affordable apartment when the time comes", she nods. The tour had come to an end and most people have already left. "I'll see you, girls, next month", Dahlia waves to us. "Sure", Darcy nods as Dahlia gets into a car and the person drives off. "Let's go", I head towards my car. ______________ When I get home I send the photos I take out to Linzey, dad, and my other friends. My flight to California is at 3 pm tomorrow afternoon, I don't feel like getting up early tomorrow morning to catch a flight. It's 1:30 pm now, I can't call mom she's probably still at work and Darcy is busy with Jace when I dropped her off at the mall. Maybe I should go to the lake, highschoolers always hang out there around this time in mid-summer and there are free drinks. 'How about we go for a run? I'm sure there are lots of isolated places in the city', Asia suggests. 'When we go to California, where Dave lives there is a private property with a forest only he has access to behind his house', I reply. 'Fine, once it's safe.' Thirty minutes later I'm on my way to the lake. ______________
