Astrid’s POV
Next morning, I woke up in an unfamiliar place. Everything was still hazy as I tried to recall what happened last night. My head was still aching. Getting up, I get the biggest shock of my life.
‘Where the hell are my clothes?’ was the first thing that came to my mind.
‘What the hell happened last night?’ was my second thought as I looked around the room for my clothes. I found them neatly laid on the chair present in the room. As there was no one in the room, I decided to leave. It is better this way.
Slowly, I tip toed outside. Thankfully there was no one in the living room. I had almost reached the main door when I heard it.
“You are leaving?” startled I jumped in fright or more like nervousness at being caught.
Turning around, I face the most gorgeous man I had ever seen. My lips parted in appreciation as I watched him with fascination. He was tall with well-built personality. He had electrifying blue eyes. His personality oozes charm.
“I know I am handsome. Looks like you still haven’t got over my handsomeness” he smirked.
A silent gasp escaped my mouth as I recalled everything.
Flashback.
Once we were far away from the club, I turned to the guy. I could not see his face properly. “Thanks for the help” I said to him. He did not say anything at first which lead me to add “You did not have to trouble yourself; you know. I could have saved myself”.
“That’s what I get for being your saviour?” I could hear the smirk in his voice. I rolled my eyes at that. His confident about his looks and he knows it.
“Saviour, really where did you pick that from?” I asked with a chuckle. He did not reply. I felt the awkwardness as he kept driving.
“A… can you drop me at the hotel?” I requested him. I need to book a room and spend two days in my own company. For these two days, I don’t want to remember anything that happened today.
“You looked like you need a break” I come out of my sad thoughts when I heard him.
“What did you say?” I asked him as I had missed it
“Back at the club you looked like you needed a break. If you don’t mind, can I suggest something?” he asks me.
“So, you had been observing me at the club?” I state with narrowed eyes.
“You got me wrong. Actually, I was right beside you when you were getting drunk” he informed me.
“Oh” I mumbled as I tucked my hairs behind my ear.
“You can come to my house. It is not safe staying at the hotel when you are drunk” he advised me.
“We are particularly strangers. It is better than staying with you when I don’t even know you” I stated.
He chuckled “If I wanted to do something, I would have done it back at the club or taken you somewhere right now where no one could reach us” he said to me.
My lips tightened when I realized he is right. But I was still not sure him hurting me is not possible. He is after all a human.
“Looks like you are not sure” he said. His deep husky voice had me catching my breath, every time he spoke.
“Hotel it is then” He muttered. I did not say anything as he drove me to the hotel. He had to help me walk inside and book a room. I am so stupid. I had forgotten to bring my identity card. At last, my only option was to go with him. It was awkward during the whole ride to his place. I watched as we drove towards the hill station.
“Where do you live?” I mumbled as I got out.
“Welcome to Knight villa” he smiled at me. Both of us got out. We entered inside once he unlocked the door. The light switched on the moment we entered.
I remember that I had forgot to ask his name.
“I did not get your name” I said turning to face him.
“I thought you would never ask” his smile had me captivated on the spot. He had breath taking features. With a dimple on his right cheek and his electrifying blue, he is well built with all those muscles and height. Looks like he is someone who works out a lot.
“I know I am handsome but if you keep staring at me like that than I won’t accountable for my actions” his deep husky and flirty voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
“You might get this look a lot huh” I said instead as I walked further into house. The living room was spacious with an open kitchen room. Everything looked perfect and clean.
“I am Alastair knight by the way” I turned around when he introduced himself.
“I am Astrid Miller” I was still a little tipsy and walking on unsteady legs.
“Would you like me to make a hangover drink for you?” he asked as he walked towards the kitchen.
“Do you mind if I drink into oblivion?” that stopped him and made him turn around.
“Don’t you think I would do something when you are completely intoxicated?” he raised his eyes brows at me.
“If you wanted to pull a stunt like that, I am sure you would have done it till now” I stated.
“Devil spring vodka or sunset rum, which would you prefer?” he asks with a smirk. I smiled.
“Now we are talking. Get me devil spring vodka” I said to him.
“I will be right back” with that said, he walked down the hallway to get the bottle.
I sat on of the sofa. There is no way I want to be sober today. I won’t be able to sleep or forget what is going to happen in the coming days. It is officially over for me. Jasper has broken me. I don’t think I will be able to move on from this heartbreak. Alastair was back with the drink and two glasses.
“You are joining me for the drink?” I inquired as I found him holding two glasses.
“Can’t let the lady drink alone all by herself” he smiled at me.
My lips parted in appreciation. When he smiled, his dimple showed.
“Here” he passed me my drink. I took the glass and drank it in a big gulp which left me in a coughing fit.
“Easy there” Alastair rubbed my back.
I did not even realise when he came to my side. We were this close. I can smell his cologne.
“Don’t make haste with the drink” he murmured softly in my ear. His breath fanned me cheek. Goose bumps erupted all over my body with his closeness.
I created some distance between us. He took the hint and moved aside. We continued to drink for I don’t know how long.
“Over” I slurred. “I need more” I said turning to Alastair.
“Get me more” I ordered him. I could not see him clearly as my vision was hazy with all the drinks that I had.
“That’s enough. You need to sleep it off” he said to me.
“No, bring me the drink” I spoke incoherently as I tried to pull him.
“Miss Astrid” he was saying.
“You should sleep” I heard him saying to me.
“No sleep, only drink” I grinned at him. When he shook his head at me, I tried to pull him to with me.
“Come” he suddenly pulled his hand which had me falling down on him.
“Oomph”.
“Only drink” I mumbled while trying to get up. When I was not able to get up, Alastair helped me.
“You should sleep” he said as he held me.
“No” I started struggling. Suddenly he picked me up over and threw me over his shoulder and started walking.
“Leave me” I screamed and started hitting his back. All the movement lead me to throw up my contents all over his back. He stopped when he felt that.
“What the hell?” he growled angrily as he dropped me unceremoniously on the ground.
“Ouch” I started crying at his angry look. I was feeling like throwing up again. His eyes widened.
“Wait” I stopped and stared at him.
“Let’s go to the washroom” he helped me towards the washroom. We were almost inside when I threw up. This time all over myself though.
“Not this again” I heard him mutter. My dress was all dirty. I decided to take it off.
“Hey, what are you doing?” he snapped as he tried to stop me. I pushed him outside and then took of my dress off. I was unsteady as it is. After washing my face, I opened the door and walked out.
Stumbling towards the bed, I fell face flat on the bed in only my innerwear’s.
“Oh god” I heard a low groan. Confused, I turned my face to find a shirtless Alastair. Pushing my hairs away, I got up and looked at him.
“You have a sexy body” I grinned at him. He walked further into the room.
“Wear this” He passed me a shirt. I pushed his hands away.
Letting out a sigh, he tried to help me wear it.
“I don’t want to” I whined.
All the struggle leads to a moment between us. He stumbled upon me. His lips a whisper away from mine. He looked breath taking up this close. Our heartbeats increased as we stared at each other. When he tried to move away, I placed my hand around his neck and held him close to me.
“Please make me forget it” I whispered. Our lips touched slightly. He stared at me for I don’t know for how long.
Maybe it was my voice which made me lean in. Whatever happened after that, I did not regret it. It was one of the best feeling I have felt in years. His lips were gentle as they coaxed mine. The skin-to-skin touch felt electrifying as he kissed me deeply. His every touch felt overwhelmingly intoxicating.
He wasn’t gentle after that. His deep blue eyes to mine hazel, they were darker shade now which took me by surprise. His hand gentle moved from my cheek to my throat. I gasped when he gently held me by the nape of the neck and kissed me deeply. I felt every contour of his body as my hands roamed all over his back.
My heart was hammering into my ribcage and I could feel his heartbeat matching my rhythm. As our breathing increased, we stared at each and got passionate throughout the night. He kept kissing and nuzzling my neck. I felt completely lost in his captivating blue eyes as he took me through the throes of passion. I felt electric shock course all through my body as we touched.
I had never felt this way before. His every sigh and groan were bliss to my ears as I let go. By the time we were done, he slumped upon me. Rolling around, he took me with him. Now I was the laying on top of him. He hugged me as I let sleep consume me.
End of flashback.
My eyes widened when I remembered everything. Giving him an awkward smile, I stood near the door itself.
“Looks like you remembered everything. So, you decided to leave?” he asked once again with his eyebrows raised.
“Well, I don’t want to overstay my welcome” I said to him.
“Come and have a seat” he pointed towards the sofa. When he saw that I was hesitating, he assured me with his one look.
“Please come” he requested.
“Have this. It will help with the hangover” he forwards me a glass.
“Is that an invitation to stay longer?” my gaze settled on him as I walked further into the living room and took the glass from him.
“As long as you feel better” he said with a smile. I smiled back, just because I felt like doing so.
“Do you stay alone?” I inquired as I looked around.
“Yes. I come here when I want some time for myself. Rest of the days, I stay with my family” he informs me. There was stretch of silence as we drank silently. I got up and walked towards the glass doors. I was about to open the door but stopped myself.
Turning around, I open my mouth only to snap it shut when he said “You may take a look around”
Giving him a smile, I slid the door open. It was still early in the morning. There was greenery all around. His villa is situated on top of the hill. It was breath taking from up here.
“You have got a beautiful place” I mumbled when I felt his presence beside me. I don’t know for how long we stood there gazing ahead. The fog was still present in the mountains. It was still chilly out here.
“Thank you. It is peaceful here” he said to me. I agreed with him. Indeed, it is very peaceful. ‘If I had the opportunity, I would like to stay here in his arm’ A sudden thought came to my mind.
I froze on the spot ‘where the hell did that thought come from?’.
‘No, it is wrong’ I chided my inner thoughts.
“What would you like to have for breakfast?” his question snapped me out of my thoughts.
“Anything is fine” I tried to smile at him. Giving me a nod, he walked back inside. Letting out a silent groan, I lightly hit the back of my head. I am sure my smile might have looked like a grimace. ‘What must he think of me?’ I thought to myself.
‘Anyway, what does it matter what he thinks of me?
It is not as if we will be meeting again after I leave here. I am sure he won’t really like me after he sees the scar on my face. My thoughts wander to the pack. I hope Mrs Brooks have managed everything.
Thinking about Jasper, I thought about how he enslaved me at the pack to do the chores, all insult, humiliation and misery came back to me. Placing my hand on my head, I tried to stop this hurt I am feeling.
“Are you alright?” suddenly everything that was hurting stopped at the sound of his voice. I was confused. Turning around, I stared at Alastair. What is all this about? Is this some kind of connection? I shook my head.
“Is something bothering you?” I was clueless as my mind was miles away.
“huh” I frowned at him.
“Did you say something?” I inquired as I stared at him.
“You looked sad and deep in thoughts. I asked whether something was bothering you?”
“You got that just by looking at my face?” I raise my eyebrows at him. He smiled at me.
“A beautiful lady like you will only get wasted in a club when her heart is hurting or when she is sad” he said to me. I stopped myself from giving any reaction, which would lead for him to be smug about it.
“That is the only thing you could come up with?” I clicked my tongue as I watched him.
“The second thing is that you came to a complete stranger’s house. That is one good enough reason, don’t you think?” he raised his eyebrows at me with a till of his chin in my direction. I let out a sigh.
“Quite an observer you are, Mr Alastair” stated.
“Just Alastair is fine” he smiled at me.
‘Why does he have to be so good to me’ I thought to myself.
“Breakfast is ready” he informs me. As I followed him, I remembered how different he is from Jasper. He is a complete stranger to me yet he helped me last night. Now he also made me breakfast. On the other hand, Jasper is the exact opposite. He found ways to torture me and cause me misery
He made sure I worked so much the whole day that I would be dead tired by the end of the day.
“Wow this looks yummy” I beamed at him. Seeing the breakfast spread at the table, made me feel emotional. This the first time someone prepared something for me.
“Are you this good to all the girls out there?” I asked him as I took my seat. He sat down opposite me.
“Will you believe me when I say that I have brought a lady here for the first time?” he asks instead. I shrugged my shoulder in response.
“I hardly know you to pass any kind of judgement” I mumbled.
“Fair enough” he nods at me as he passed me a glass of juice.
“Trust me, you are the only who has come here apart from my family” he informed me.
“Should I feel good about it?” I raised one skeptical at him.
“I am informing this to you because I want to let you know that no one can come here without my permission. Also, I don’t go around picking female companions from the club” I let out a sigh as I stared at him.
“You don’t have to explain anything to me” I assured him.
“I am sorry for engaging in a conversation. Please have breakfast”.
There was scrambled eggs, bread, toast, sandwich, fruits, coffee and juice. There was pancakes as well.
“Hmm... I think you made too much for just the two of us” I murmured as I took a bite of the sandwich.
“Well, my girlfriend is on the way” he informed me casually. I sputtered the juice all over him when I heard him. My eyes widening as I realised what is going to happen.
“Do you really have the habit of spitting and puking on others?” he grimaced as he wiped his face with the napkin.
“I am sorry” I was quick to apologise.
“How can you be so casual when your girlfriend is on the way here?” I snapped at him as I got up and started walking towards the room. I checked the first room and did not find my clutch.
I found my clutch with my mobile in the master bedroom, down the hallway. As I walked inside, I stopped short on my feet as I saw the wrinkled sheets. It reminded me of the blissful night I spent here.
Shaking my thoughts away, I took my clutch and walked back to the living room. I was shocked to find Alastair having his breakfast in peace.
“How can you be so calm?” I stalked towards him. Human girlfriends are very good at misunderstanding things. I don’t want to cause a break up.
“Sit and have your breakfast, Ms Miller” he pointed towards the chair. I glared at him.
“You bastard, how can you cheat on your girlfriend?” I was about to throw a glass of water on his face when he stopped me from doing so.
I wish I could just use my teleportation power. It will save me this unnecessary drama and the confrontation with girlfriend.
“Not again Ms Astrid. You have already wet me enough times” he said to me as he took the glass away from my hand and kept it back on the table.
“All men are pigs” I snapped at him.
He raised his eyebrows at me “This what I get for helping you and treating you for breakfast” His glittering blue eyes caused a shiver down my spine.
Folding my hands in my front, I said “I would have complimented you and thought you are a gentleman but now I know better” I muttered.
I narrowed my eyes at him “your girlfriend is on the way” I said pointing towards the main door when he was still very casual about it.
His eyes followed my moment before he passed me an amused look “there is no girlfriend” he said.
“I was just teasing you” I clicked my tongue at that.
“You…” I was speechless. I was worrying over nothing.
“Have your breakfast” he pointed towards my seat. Reluctantly I sat down as I was famished. We had breakfast silently. I could feel his amused gaze on me every now and then.
“About last night” he started once the breakfast was over. Those words were enough to increase my heartbeat.
