Ch 5

Astrid’s POV

“We stay nearby” I said to the man. He looked around in early forties. There right beside him was a German shepherd.

“Tell, me what are you doing on my property?” he glared at me and Brandon.

“Astrid, let’s go” Brandon muttered from beside me.

“Tell me or else” the man warned us.

“Or else what?” I folded my hand and looked him straight in the eye. His eyes narrowed at me.

“Oh no” Brandon looked panicked before I could do anything, he started running.

“This i***t” I muttered as the man left the dog.

The German shepherd ran with fast pace. By the looks of it, Brandon would soon be attacked if I didn’t do anything.

“Ughh, if you don’t want me to hurt you?” I glared at the man.

“Or else what?” the man smirked at me. I looked back and froze when suddenly Brandon slipped and fell down. The dog will attack him any moment now. By the looks of it, the man won’t be able to stop his dog.

“Alright, you asked for it” I smirked back at him.

Looking him straight in the eyes, within seconds I had him hypnotized. When that was done, I stopped the dog right where he was. Everything stilled as two blue rays shot out of my eyes.

“Ah s**t. That was easy” I mumbled and walked towards the man. I so wanted to stop and enjoy this for some time. But I had to return back to the pack to do my days duties. With that thought, I used my powers and everything went back to normal.

I made sure to hypnotize the man to do my bidding. This way, he will recognize me as if he has met me before. Having my ability back here is suck a powerful thing. Only if I was able to use it on the pack grounds.

“Madam, you are here” the man greeted me.

“Yeah, if you don’t mind, I will keep coming here. I hope you don’t mind” I gave him a tight-lipped smile.

“Of course, miss Miller. You are always welcome here” he smiled at me. I gave him a nod and saw that Brandon was standing with the dog’s leash in his hand. By the use of powers, I made sure that Brandon does not remember what just happened. Saves me the time to explain him everything.

All these years, I have kept my identity a secret.

“Thank you. I will see you then” with that said I walked towards Brandon.

“Let’s go” I said to him.

“But what about this dog?” he raised the leash for me to look at.

“Leave it” I ordered him. He looked scared as his eyes moved towards the dog. The dog was panting with his tongue hanging lose, staring at us, ready to attack.

“What if it attacks us?” he murmured.

“It won’t” I assured him.

“Are you sure?” he did not look convinced.

“Trust me” I blinked my eyes at him. He looked not so sure but slowly left the leash.

The dog ran back towards his owner. We left after that back to the pack.

“By the way, what are you doing for the whole day?” We walked down the lane before we reached the dark woods. The entrance had a board stating that there are wild animals and it should not be trespassed.

“Now that I did not go for work, I will stay at pack and help you” he said to me.

“You don’t have too” I said to him as we entered the dark woods.

The moment we entered the woods, I and Brandon stared at each other. I passed him a mischievous look before I sprinted forward shouting

“Whoever comes last will do the laundry for one whole week”

“Astrid” he shouts as I heard his footsteps following me. I ran faster while laughing. Half an hour later, I stood in front of the pack while panting as I had run faster.

Soon after Brandon joined me “You cheated” he accused.

I stuck my tongue out at him. He wriggled his eyebrows at me mischievously. I knew what was coming next. Without wasting much time, I sprinted towards the pack house, climbing the front steps laughing as I did, I ran inside. Brandon was close behind me.

“I will get you” his voice reverberated in the living room. Turning around, I teased him as I was on the other side of the sofa.

“For that you have to catch me first” he was trying to catch me. Knowing him, he would try to jump on the other side. With slow steps, I moved back. My back was towards the steps, I was suddenly pushed hard which led me to falling down on the floor.

“Watch where you are going, you b***h” I heard the cringy voice of the cheer leader of this pack. Or should I say mistress of Jasper. Brandon was immediately by my side, helping me to get up.

“Aww poor girl, cannot even get up on your own huh?” Ellie gave me a disgusted look.

“I don’t need to prove my strength to anyone. At least not to someone who does not even know how to fight” my voice calm as I stared down at her.

Her eyes narrowed into slits at the insult.

“Are you calling me weak?” she glared at me.

“Did you see that Brand?” I smirked at her as Brand was trying to pull me away.

“Let’s go, Astrid”

Ignoring him, I continued “The queen bee is not only weak but also dumb”.

Brandon let’s out a loud gasp. Her crony looked at me with anger.

“How dare you say like that?” It was Rhea, Ellie’s crony stalked towards.

“Ah, looks like queen bee here cannot even talk for herself. She has to let her sidekicks do all the work” I taunted.

“Mind what you say, you b***h” It was Beth.

“I am not interested in talking to you sidekick” provoking them was my intention.

“How dare you?” Beth was the one to raise her hand at me. Before she could slap me, I caught her hand and twisted it behind her.

“Ah” she screamed in pain. Ellie’s eyes widened.

“You crass and good for nothing b***h” Ellie tried to attack me. I pushed Beth on her, which had both of them falling down. Ellie was down with Beth upon her. They were screaming like a mad banshee.

Rhea looked scared as I stared down at her “Do you want to give it a try or you will help them?” I suggested. Within seconds she moved forwards to help her cheer leader and friend.

“Let’s go” both I and Brandon started to walk towards the stairs when suddenly I was attacked from behind. By the cologne, I knew it was Ellie who attacked me. She had got hold of my neck. Her arms wrapped tightly around me from behind.

“What are you doing, leave her” Brandon jumped in to help me. He successfully pushed Ellie away. Being a guy, he was obviously strong. Ellie is weak who only tries to boss around on others.

There was a loud scream. Ellie was hurt as she collied with the stand. She was bruised not so much that it could not be treated. I knew she was trying to create a scene.

“Brandon, leave” I muttered to him quietly. He looked at me and then at Elle who was still crying. Many of the pack members had gathered around. One thing was sure, if Jasper arrives it won’t be good, I cannot let him stay here.

“Go” I pushed him towards the door. He was hesitating, I pleaded him with my eyes.

“Please” I muttered. He is my only friend. I don’t want Jasper hurting him in any way. He finally escaped from the room. I counted to ten in my head before Jasper appeared. Letting out a sigh, I stood and stared at him. His eyes met mine before they moved towards Ellie.

Ellie being the dramatic girl that she is, started crying a little louder.

“Jasper, see what they did to me” she pointed towards me. I refrained myself from rolling my eye. There was no point provoking them further. Jasper is anyway going to punish me. There is no way escaping it.

“You were the one who attacked me first” I stated. Ellie’s eyes narrowed in my direction.

“I don’t lie” she snapped angrily.

Letting out a sigh, I said “now to prove your point you can scream and shout but no one can defy the fact that you gave me these bruises” I showed the red marks around my neck. There were several gasps in the room. I smirked inwardly. No one knew that I have a sensitive skin which gets bruised easily. Ellie and her minions looked shocked as they stared at me. Ellie did not know how to react so she turned to Jasper with her bruised hand.

“Jasper honey, see this” she was literally pouting. I had to stop myself from gagging at the display of fake affection.

Jasper being the way he is, he likes to torture me.

Turning to me, he stated “Ellie does not do anything until she is provoked or hurt. All of us here know how you are, Astrid. You always attack the weak ones”

There were round of murmurs going around as Jasper said that. I could not stop myself from smirking. He unknowingly stated that Ellie is weakling. By the looks of it, Ellie looked humiliated as she glared at Jasper.

“Honey, I am not weak” Ellie looked angry.

“Don’t you see those marks. I did them” she said with a proud smirk. I chuckled inwardly. Jasper clenched his teeth at her which had her shutting her mouth.

“Did you hear it guys” I looked around in the room of pack members.

“Ellie herself confessed here. She was the one who attacked me and caused these bruises” I showed my now red neck to everyone.

Jasper had no other choice but to let the matter go. He cannot punish me. If he did so, then he will have to punish Ellie as well. I smirked inwardly as I stared at Jasper. He glared at me.

“Stay away from Ellie. I am warning you” Jasper said through clenched teeth.

“Why don’t you say the same thing to your mistress” I retort back. Ellie gasped in shock before she fumed angrily. She was too slow for her brain to work.

“I am his girlfriend” Ellie sputtered with an indignant look on her face.

“Last time I remember, I was the one mated to him” I pointed at Jasper. The pack members had started whispering amongst themselves by now.

“Don’t start now, Astrid. I have lost interest in you long back. There is nothing between us. Its over” Jasper said loud and clear. By the smirk on his face, I knew he was trying to hurt me. He succeeded. He humiliated me in front of everyone. I wanted to return the favour.

“You will regret your decision. I will make sure of it. Mark my words” I snapped at him.

“Looks like you have finally lost it” taunted Ellie with a smirk on her face. Her cronies were smirking as well as they flanked beside her.

“A time will come when you will come begging to me. Then I will make sure you remember these words” My words were firm.

“Let’s go, Jasper” Ellie wrapped her arm around Jasper before they turned to go. Ellie stared at me

“Why don’t you go and cry in your s**t hole?” with that taunt she took Jasper along with her.

“Poor her” Rhea, her crony patted me on the cheek. I moved back from her touch.

“Rhea, you need to watch your hand” Beth gave me disgusted look as if I have a disease. It was so hard for me to control my emotions. I looked around and found the pack members staring at me with pity and sympathy in their eyes. Some of them who always bullied me looked happy at my misery.

“What are you staring at?” I snapped at them. All of them scrambled out of the room.

I turned around to go when one of the pack members called out “Now that you are not tied to Alpha jasper, I am free for your services” his voice grated my ears as I slowly turned around to look at him.

He is the guy who has shown interest in since the time Jasper had brought me to the pack. He has always been hitting on me even though I never encouraged him or gave him any kind of hint.

“What’s your name again?” I asked him. His friends smothered their laugh when I insulted their friend. The smirk wiped off his face.

“Ah that smart mouth of yours” he looked at me from top to bottom. I felt disgusted even to have his eyes on me.

“Something which you can never have” I stated with a smirk.

“As you know, you are too low for my standard”

He fumed angrily as he stalked towards me.

“Now, I would be smart if were you?” Brandon walked in. The guy stopped and turned to face Brandon.

“Ah, so you were here all along” the guy stated with a smirk.

“Well, I don’t need to explain anything to you” Brandon muttered.

“Better go and do your work”

The guy glared at Brandon before turning to me. I let out sigh.

‘He definitely has death wish’. I thought to myself. There was so much to do and these people were making it hard for me.

“Just now Alpha jasper could not help Ellie. He did not even punish Astrid. As we see it, Ellie is Alpha Jasper’s girlfriend and Astrid is the wife”

“As for you,” Brandon came up towards the guys and smirked at him “you are nothing but just a pack member who only created nuisance. There are anyways lot of complaints about you. So, I would think wisely if I were you”

Once Brandon was done, the guy was hesitating.

‘Coward’ I muttered as he glared at me before stalking out of the pack house with his friends following right behind him.

“I am sorry for leaving you alone” Brandon was quick to apologize to me.

“Stop it. I was the one who sent you. There is nothing to apologize for” I assured him with a smile. He placed his hand on my shoulder and pulled me towards him.

“Ughh, what are you doing?” I grumbled as I tried to push him away.

“You are the smartest friend and member of this pack” he gave me a proud smile. I scrunched my nose at him.

“I will take that as a compliment then”.

He rolled his eyes at me as we reached my room. My room was on the first floor with other pack members. It is basically unused closet. Entering inside, I took my clothes which needed to be washed.

My cat was sleeping peacefully on the bed. When Brandon picked her up, she immediately hissed at him.

“Woah there” I laughed at Brandon’s scared face.

“It’s just a cat. What are you scared about?” I teased him.

“I am not scared” he said bravely but still kept an eye on my cat who went on the other side of bed and sat there staring at Brandon.

“Why is it staring at me like that?” I chuckled.

“Chill, she won’t do anything” I assured him as I gathered all my clothes.

“You should not have disturbed her beauty sleep” I informed as I pet the cat. She purred at me in affection.

“Both owner and the cat are feisty” Brandon said pointing at the two of us. All I did was chuckle at his scared face before walking out of room. For the next ten minutes, we collected the clothes from the Alpha’s room, Beta, gamma and other pack members. Thankfully we did not encounter any of them. I was glad because I did not want any more drama for the day.

Brandon helped me to do laundry as he had lost in the race. Anyways, he would have done it without the race as well because he is awesome like that. We are best friends after all. Once the laundry was done, I went to the kitchen to prepare lunch. I had one hour before the Alpha and rest of the pack members will arrive.

“Ah dear, you must be tired after doing so much laundry” Mrs. Brooks looked concerned a she stared at me.

I smiled at her “don’t worry Mrs. Brooks. Your son is awesome. He helped me”.

She let out a sigh of relief “I am glad to hear that” she said smiling at her son. I made her sit on one of the chairs and did my work around the kitchen. By the time I was done, it was twelve in the noon. I was dead tired. The day has just started for me. One thing I am sure is that Jasper will punish me some way or the other.

He will make sure to torture me and try pressure me. I have to get used to it by now. Once the lunch was ready, I decided to get fresh. By the time I returned, the pack members started filling in the dining room.

Like usual we served the higher ranks along with Ellie and her minions first. After that the rest of the pack members started taking their lunch. Jasper did not stop from glaring at me throughout the lunch. Ellie and her minions tried to order me around. I had to stop myself from smashing their heads with the plate.

I did not want to provoke Jasper. He will definitely have me locked up for the night. With that reason, I calmed myself and patiently served them. When it was finally over, I breathed a sigh of relief. Mrs. Brooks, Brandon and I had just started our lunch after serving the pack members when Alpha Jasper called me.

I excused myself and walked outside ignoring the sympathy look on Mrs. Brooks face. She cannot do anything for me. She is after all just a cook. Jasper was still sitting at the dining table. Ellie was present as well.

“You have to make preparations as Alpha and Beta will be visiting our packs. We will be holding a weekend party” he started.

“Alright Alpha, I will see to the arrangements” with that said I turned around only to stop on my track as I heard him
