When the Count did not speak, she said, “I wonder what he is seeking. Can it be that he has never actually fallen in love?” She did not know why she asked the question, the words just came to her mind. The Count stared at her in astonishment. “What made you say that?” he asked. “I-I think I knew what was in your thoughts,” Sola admitted. “I forbid you to read my thoughts!” the Count expostulated. Sola turned to look at one of the Greek islands that they were passing. It was very beautiful and she thought a fitting place for the Gods and Goddesses who had once been worshipped there. “I realise,” she said after a moment, “that the King, because he has never been married, must have met many interesting and charming women. I am just wondering if he will need them as much in the future
