Secret Admirer

"Ruby McLean, accept me!" The entire class shouted as I entered inside making me stunned.
I had just received the score to the mini test we took last week and of course, I had not done so well. I wasn't exactly in a good mood and plus I knew I had to face Leon later since I am sure he was well aware of my score too.
But what was this? The fact that the entire class had participated in surprising me made things even more shocking. My mind instantly thinks of Tyler. He was the only one that could do something like this.
"What is all this?" Tyler asked as he entered the class making me even more suprised.
It wasn't Tyler.
"Yes. Does anyone have an explanation? What is all this? Who asked you guys to do this?" I ask looking around as I head to my best friends.
They would surely know who it was. Jessica was exactly like me. Popular, pretty but just a little dumb. She would definitely know what this was about since she always had information about these sort of things. I was anxious to know who was trying to drive me crazy.
" Your secret admirer. He posted on his IG that he wanted our help. We all agreed to it and boom! Here we are." Jessica says excitedly as if I am going to accept his proposal.
"Okay, then. Secret admirer, isn't it time you showed your face? Hmmm? I mean everyone has already done a great job of helping you." I say trying to force him to come out.
The room goes silent for a while making me look around. Everyone becomes highly curious about him as they wait looking around but after a few minutes, nothing happens making me roll my eyes.
" Ruby, how about you meet me in the evening on the high bridge in the city? I'll be able to show you my real face then." A voice says from the speaker making Tyler laugh.
" Seriously. Bruh, it can't be that you are so ugly that you can't show your face, right? I mean, what's the entire need for the supense? Show your face if you aren't ugly" Tyler said making me nod my head. He was definitely the backup I needed.
" Yes, show your face. Don't worry, even if you are ugly, I won't embarrass you." I said making the entire class burst out in laughter.
" Trying to humiliate me? Ruby McLean, I don't think you should be doing this to me. Especially since you have a lot to lose. Since I like you so much, I'll leave you with a little gift. Make sure to come" The voice said before dropping the microphone.
Suddenly my phone rings gaining my attention and I immediately pick it up. Seeing the video of me in front of Tyler's house suddenly catches my attention. It was back then when I had come to tell him that I was pregnant. Even the accident had been recorded. Gasping in shock, I cover my mouth unable to look away as I relive my worst nightmare all over again. The reason why I had gotten admitted to this school.
"What's wrong with you? Ruby!" Tyler says trying to catch my attention but he spots me looking at the video.
When he tries to lean in to watch the video, I close my phone about to leave the class as tears fall down from my eyes. I couldn't be in the presence of anyone right now and I was afraid that people might notice me. Reaching out for my hand, Tyler tries to stop me making me turn to slap him hard. I was so angry and hurt that I had not thought twice about slapping him. However, I had gained everyone's attention.
"Don't touch me!" I scream at him before running out of classroom.
Passing by Leon, I head to the one place I knew I wouldn't be seen. Although I can clearly hear Jessica and Kylie screaming my name, I don't stop at all.
"What did you do to make her slap you? Tell me, what did you do?" Leon asked sternly as he looked at Tyler.
Although I can see them clearly from where I am hiding, I refuse to make any indication that I am there. Leon clearly seems frustrated while Tyler insists on acting like an angel to the end. That was right. He didn't deserve a happy life after what he had put me through.The best way to hurt him and his family was through Leon Knight. After dating him, I was going to claim he had seduced me. No matter how powerful their family was, the scandal would be too much to comprehend easily. After all it was between a professor and a student.
This was my revenge.
"Uncle, do you think I would do something to her in the middle of the class? Everyone was watching. She just started crying and was about to leave class when I grabbed her hand. She turned around and just suddenly slapped me. I don't know what is wrong with that girl. Uncle, please stop this nonsense you have with her. She will do nothing but bring you down." Tyler said making Leon stare at him.
Watching him reach for his phone, I assume he is going to try calling me so I quickly put my phone on vibrate so he doesn't reach me. Suddenly another message comes in from my secret admirer whose identity I have no idea about. The fact that he had gotten the video could only mean he was someone close to me.
Secret Admirer: What do you think, Ruby? Does the video I sent bring back bad memories? I saw you crying as you ran out class. Sorry my love. I didn't mean it. You angered me by mocking me. This should serve as a lesson to you.
Reading his message, I look around suprised he had seen me crying. I was right. He was definitely someone beside me. Probably a student at the university. Glancing down at my phone, I reply to his text message.
Me: Show your face, you bas**rd! What do you think this video you sent will make me do? Accept you? You used my past to threaten me. Once I find you, I'll make sure you regret it.
Secret Admirer: Don't make me mad, McLean. I like you so much which is why I am still being nice. I have more things that can destroy you. Be nice, my love.
Reading his message, I stand up angrily hitting my phone to the ground. I had forgotten I was hiding from Leon and Tyler. Raising my head, I see Leon looking at me with a worried gaze.
"Ruby! God, I've been trying to reach you. Why didn't you respond?" Leon asked hugging me immediately he walks up to me.
Even being in his arms was heaven. Feeling so small in his arms, I suddenly want to give in to his hug and hug him back but I can't. I didn't want to get attached.
"I didn't see it. My mind was somewhere else." I lied waiting for him to let me go.
We were hugging each other in the school field. Although no one was here right now, the football team always practiced here after school hours.
" Let me go. Someone can see us." I said.
"Are you okay? Don't worry about anything. I'll make sure to find out who that jerk is. It doesn't look like Tyler because he was at the class with you. Do you have any idea who it might be?" Leon asks me making me shake my head.
"Ruby?" I hear a voice ask from afar making us seperate immediately.
Spotting Kylie stressing her eyes to see if it's me, I turn around making sure to block Leon who she does recognize him.
" Please leave now. It's Kylie." I whisper staring at Leon.
"Make sure you come to the house after school. Failure to do it will make me come get you. I mean it, Ruby." Leon says making me nod my head.
"I'll come, I'll come. Get going or we will be exposed." I say signaling him to leave.
Watching him leave, I close my eyes sighing in relief as Kylie approaches me from behind. Leon was already far away so she couldn't spot him at all.
"You're the one. Why didn't you answer? And who was with you? The man leaving. Is that your secret admirer?" Kylie asked gasping as she looked at the direction Leon left.
Instead of denying it, I try to guide her away from the question and it works. I had one mission now and it was to get rid of this secret admirer of mine. He already knew too much.
Me: I'll come meet you on the high bridge. Make sure to come or I won't answer you again. Do whatever you want.
Texting him quickly, I put my phone in my back pocket while leaving with Kylie.
Secret Admirer: I'll see you there.
