''Thank you for putting all the s**t behind us and being here today'' I whispered to Kane as we stood at the end of the aisle, Awaiting on the bride, and the bridal party to make their entrances. Things were still a little tense between my brother and I, Understandable I suppose, but today was an important day, And I was glad he was able to move past that, even for a little while and be here.
''I'm not here for you Alex''. I knew he wasn't, That wasn't my point, but I just nodded and turned away, Letting it lie.
Looking around the room, It was almost breathtaking at how packed the church was, Guests filling every single seat, Family, Friends. My mother holding back her tears at the sight of seeing her son about to marry the woman of his dreams, I gave her a quick smile which she instantly returned. Scanning the back rows, I spotted the familiar face of Chris, Next to him sat Nicolus, His husband. They were talking amongst themselves, Not noticing my staring. Of course, they would be here, Their family too.
Today was all about family.
I was still off in my own little magical world When the music started and the guest got to their feet.
First down the aisle was Parker. Of course, she was the flower girl... Well, She insisted on it. Throwing Flower petals everywhere as she went, before rushing off to sit next to my mother when she was done.
Next was the Bridesmaids, Family and friends, and the maid of honour, Rose, And then it was time;
Everyone turned back around and watched as the beautiful woman in the white dress made her way towards the altar. I patted my younger brother on the back, a silent congratulations before his bride finally stood before us and took his hand.
Today was my little brother's wedding day. Fang and Keninta. They looked at each other with so much love, and the ceremony began.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After finishing the ceremony, It was time to party.
I sat in my seat and looked around the table, to my left was Raven, Next to her was Rose and Kane With Parker on his lap, And to my right was Chris and Nick, Probably not the best seating arrangement, But no one was going to start any fights or arguments today. Chris and Rose are on.. speaking-without-murdering-each other terms now, which was progress.
''So, When are you going to make me a Grandma, Alex?'' Rose joked. Looking up at Raven quickily, I shot her a slight disproving look.
Have you told your mum about Orian?
No, I haven't, Promise.
'I'm not sure yet'. I answered with a smile and looked away again. Luckily, Noone seemed to notice my change in mood, But, I was a little upset now. ''Will you please excuse me?'' Standing, I left the table and went to the bar to get another drink.
''Hey, What's wrong?'' I sighed and turned to face my girlfriend, I really didn't want to argue, but why in the world would Rose bring up grandchildren unless Raven had said something.
'Seriously, Have you said something to your mum about the baby?'
'No...' She was lying, and she knew I knew, 'Ok, Yes, I mentioned wanting a baby, but I didn't tell her about Orian'. Shaking my head, I turned away again. Reminding myself today was NOT the day to have a fight.
'Ray, Just leave me alone for a bit please'.
'But-'
'Now'.
Orian was mine and Raven's little secret, Or at least, He was meant to be. We had been talking about children for a while, And it really upset Ray that she wasn't able to have one. With Parker living with us now and knowing I was her father, It was getting to her a bit, She wanted a child with me... a child of her own, But, Of course, being a vampire, She was unable to bare one.
Then we found out about a place, In Scarsfall. It was a slave house where pregnant humans we're kept, After having babies, they were set free, Many older vampires believed it was the right thing to do, Of course, Not all of them, But most. They were kept there until they had the child, However, Sadly, Some don't survive childbirth, and in those cases, It leaves the newborn without a mother or caregiver.
It's sad, but it happens, and when that happens, Vampire couples who wish to have a child can go there, and ''adopt'' the orphan.
That's what we were planning to do with Orian. We had finally made it to the top of the ''waiting list'' and when we got a call, telling us that a newborn boy had lost his mother, We travelled there in a heartbeat to meet him. Raven and I instantly fell in love with him, Unfortunately, We had to wait a week before we could bring him home, He needed tests done to make sure he was healthy, that he would survive, and happily, he is.
We are due to bring him home tomorrow.
Orian Tavish. My little boy.
Named Orian after Raven's favourite constellation, and funnily enough, His human mother's last name was O'Ryan, It seemed to click into place.
We were keeping him a secret, for now, We didn't want to take any happiness away from Fang and Kenny on their big day. At least, that was the plan.
I sat in the corner of the room for a little while, trying to calm down. I didn't want to fight with Ray when we got home, Tomorrow was a special day, I wanted us both happy. As I sat thinking, Parks came running over.
'Dad, Mum said she's getting tired, can we go home soon?' I smiled, I was worried Parker wouldn't take to the whole ''dad'' thing, but I was wrong, she did, quite well, Luckily, She understood the situation, and she's accepted Raven as her mother, another thing I was very glad about.
'Yeah, Sure, Come on'. Taking her hand, we walked back over to the table. Chris and Nick had already left, and it was Just Ray and her parents now. 'You ready to leave?' I asked rather flatly. Without looking at me, She stood up, said goodbye to her parents and left. Letting out a small sigh, I copied her actions and followed her back across the dance-floor and out into the night air.
'Is mum mad at you?'
'Probably'.
After saying our goodbyes to the bride and groom, We headed home, When we got there, Parker went straight to bed. I was tired, and in the mood for bed myself, but when Raven went straight into the kitchen, I knew it was probably going to be a little while before my head hit the comfort of a pillow.
'Are you going to talk, or?'
Walking over to the sink, she turned and leaned against it, Crossing her arms.
'Why are you such an asshole all the f*****g time?' I was slightly offended, That wasn't true... not all the time.
'I'm not, I'm pissed off because you told your mum about the baby!'.
'No I didn't!'.
'Right'.
There was an awkward silence for a few minutes. She wouldn't talk, and I didn't know what to say.
'Right, well, I'm going to bed'. Letting out a small puff of built up anger-air, I left the room and headed up to bed. If she wanted to talk, she would come and find me.
It was a fair few hours later when I heard Raven come to bed. God knows where she had been. I knew she had been out, I heard her leave, and then come back.
'Where have you been?' I asked, Half asleep.
'Out'. Normally, I'd just let it slide and go back to sleep, but considering we were having a baby tomorrow ''out'' wasn't going to cut it.
'Out where?'
'For a walk'. Bullshit.
'A walk where?'
'What's with all the questions?!' Sitting up quickily, I turned to look at her. 'Because I wanna f*****g know where- What the f**k happened to you?!' Jumping out of bed, I dashed to her side. She was covered in blood, Shaving, Visibly hurt. What happened?!
'Nothing'.
'Baby, Tell me what's wrong'.
'I-I found a body... Of a vampire. I thought it was just someone hurt but when I went over to see if they needed help...something came at me, and attacked me'. Fear filled my stomach, She was attacked? Anger started bubbling up, overtaking the fear. Some f*****g bastard attacked MY fiancee!?
'Tell me everything!'
