CHAPTER 2: ALEXEI

When I woke up, I find myself lying inside a dark room. There is no window or anything else inside that room. I started to freak out on how creepy and dirty this place. I walked to the metal door and tried my luck to open it. There is no door handle and it seems to be open from the outside. I banged my hands to the door with so much strength to make a loud sound.

"Hey, is someone there? Please open the door!" I plead. "I was trapped here! Please save me!"

Then, the door creaked and a man wearing a long white lab gown entered. "Oh you're finally awake!" He cheerfully said. "I thought I killed you from the dose I put on your drink."

I creased my forehead and remembered this man who served our drinks in the party. "Y-Y-You...!" I said in full of fear. "Who the hell are you?"

He bowed his head. “It’s nice to meet you, Freya Miller. I heard in the party your interests in werewolves’ community and I am somehow with same interests.” He said. “By the way, you can call me Alexei, a genius doctor.”

“Okay. You are Alexei but what I am doing here?” I asked wishing this is just a prank.

He laughed like a mad man. "I held you and your friends for my new experiment. I think you will love to hear what my experiment is."

“W-W-What? Experiment?” I repeated.

I'm shocked to know that I am not the only that he captured but I am not comfortable to know what this experiment he is talking about.

“You love werewolves, right? What if I can turn you into them?” He said at me.

“Are you insane? What are you saying? Werewolves are just fictional character!” I’m trying to convince him to let us go.

He laughed again like I am joking. “They were true!” He insisted. “Even vampires were true!”

I grabbed the opportunity and run outside the metal door but I immediately stopped to the sight. There are my friends, Bella and Nina. They were shouting and screaming in pain.

"What did you do to them?!?" I yelled in panic. "No, no, no!"

"Oh them…" Alexei said uninterested. "I injected them my newly done serum then they started screaming. Maybe they will die in few days if their body still rejecting the serum."

I tried to run to my friends when this man held my arms and forcefully grab me into another room. "Noooo!" I screamed and tried to get out from his hold. “Nina! Bella!”

Then, he pushed me into the new room and locked it. "No, no, no! Alexei let me out! My friends need my help! Please don’t do this to us! Let us go!" I screamed while crying.

"If we do not go to that party... This would not happen..." I whispered with full of regret. “Nina, Bella!” I called them as I cried. I want to help them but I was locked in this room. “Please save my friends…” I pray for their safety.

"F-F-Freya... is… that… you?" A weak voice called me and when I looked back Louis and Joe were there. From their looks, Alexei also injected them a serum. They were too weak and too pale to move.

"L-L-Louis… J-J-Joe… Not you too..." I cried as I went to them “I’m glad you’re okay.” Louis said and smiled weakly at me. “We’re almost here for a week and you are not still awakened. We all thought y-y-you’re gone…”

“W-W-What? A week?” I said unexpectedly. “Am I unconscious for that long?”

"I’m so sorry, Freya. Nina and Bella were taken by that man. We failed to save them." Joe informed me regretfully. "We're too weak now and dying to protect your friends."

Louis holds my hand so tightly. "This would not happen if we didn't invite you." He said. “I promise we will help you to escape before we died.”

Suddenly, Louis coughed continuously and vomited bloods. He looked at me sadly while wiping his blood in his clothes. “Louis, please hang in there.” I cried. “We will able to get out of this hell.”

“Freya, don’t worry about me.” He said. “I know I will not live any much longer.”

"No, no one will die." I said hopefully. "I'll do something to save everyone!"

“This is also my fault.” I said regretfully. “Alexei is much more interested in me and you were just caught in it. He learned how I love werewolves and he is making an experiment of turning a human into one.”

Their silence means they knew what his experiment is about. “Y-Y-Yes, we knew about it.” Louis admitted then weakly touched my face. “And also we are not the only one that he captured. They were in the next door.” He added.

“Have our other schoolmates are here?” I asked. They shake their head. “So other people were here.” I concluded with sympathy for them.

“People… or much better say other beings.” Joe said looking at me seriously. “They were a werewolf and a vampire.”

I tried to sink in what Joe said. He said that there are a werewolf and a vampire in the next door.

“Are you kidding me? This is not the right time for jokes, Joe. That’s very impossible.” I said while rejecting the idea that they were really exists. “We all know they are fictional characters!”

Louis tapped my shoulder as if they were telling me a truth. “We can’t even believe they were really exists until we saw them.” Joe insisted. “They were really real. Werewolves and vampires are real.”

“Maybe you’re having hallucinations from Alexei’s serum.” I panicked. “It maybe makes you thinks there were true.”

“I know Freya what are we saying are hard to believe.” Joe said in disappointed tone. “But we saw them transformed and tried to attack Alexei.”

Joe lifted up his chest and there I saw deep claws wound that oozing with his blood. “This is my proof.”

“Oh my goodness Joe!” I panicked. “You must be treated!”

He waved his hands. “No need. I am dying anyway.” Joe said as if death is a normal matter.

“I told you I’ll save you! Just don’t die yet!”

I took a deep breath while accepting the fact that werewolves and vampires are real. “Are you sure?” I asked. “How can Alexei capture them anyway? They were more powerful than a simple human doctor!”

“Maybe they are powerful but Alexei is smarter than them.” Joe reasoned out. “Werewolves and vampires had weaknesses and Alexei knew about it. We saw how Alexei defeated them and put them back to their room.”

I think I know these weaknesses they are talking about. Werewolves become weak in wolfs bane’s intake while vampires are weak during the day.

“Freya, please listen to me.” Louis said seriously. “I heard that the werewolf’s lady has a mate looking for her. You know much about their community. In matter of time, he will able to find her to save her. It will be the time you will escape from this place.”

“How are about you and Joe? Nina and Bella?” I asked. “I can’t leave you here.”

“Don’t mind us. We are too weak and we will slow you down. Just save yourself.” Joe said.

“I can’t do that!” I declined. “I can’t abandon all of you especially my best friends.”

“Just do this for us.” Louis said sadly at me. “We want you to live.”
