I was sitting in my office, typing away at my computer while my lovely mate played with our children in the backyard. I couldn’t help but smile as I thought about my family. I was beyond blessed with the last four years of my life. I have a mate who’s beautiful, loving, and perfect. She gave me four amazing and stubborn children; Sage, Stella, Simon, and Shephard who were four, two, and eight months respectively. I was one lucky man.
And then my phone rang and shattered everything.
“Luna Josie?” I knew this wasn’t good news.
“It’s started, Alpha Noah. The Council has led their rogues to attack Blue Moon in California because of their siren Luna. Alpha Finn and Luna Marigold are with us, we’re on our way now. Silver Moon is the closest, their warriors are already on the way.” She explained quickly.
“I’ll gather my Luna and our best warriors. We’ll meet you there.” I jumped up, already running through the packhouse.
“Make no mistake, Alpha Noah, this is war.” Luna Josie’s voice was dark and absolute, “We know things now. The Moon Goddess is on our side. We’ll explain everything if you decide to come. But, just know that this isn’t just one battle.” She was trying to warn me.
“We always knew it was more than just one battle. Blood Moon has your back, Luna Josie.” I left no room for argument as I hung up the phone and burst into the courtyard.
“It’s time. Alpha August and Luna Josie just called me. They need our help. The Council has overstepped, the packs of the four corners are assembling.” I could tell that my eyes were wild as I clutched my mate close to me.
What Luna Josie didn’t know was that Alpha Finn and Luna Marigold had already filled me in on the Fae’s prophecy. I knew about the royal legacy and the packs of the four corners. Evie and I made our choice already and we were prepared.
My Beta, Greyson, his vampire mate Gena, my brother, Jack, sister, Lucy, and my Gamma Sawyer were waiting for us in the lobby. The patrols were already alerted, the warrior wolves ready to defend the packhouse. Thanks to the security precautions I had put in place after Evie was kidnapped by the Vampire King, we were ready for any assault.
Evie knelt down in front of our kids.
“Mommy and Daddy have to go visit a friend who needs our help. You’re going to stay with Uncle Eli and Aunt Molly for a little while, okay? We’ll be back soon.” She was holding back tears as she made a promise we didn’t know we could keep. She hugged our children close, kissing their cheeks. I did the same, taking Shepherd from my mate’s arms to give him one last kiss.
“Mommy and Daddy love you.” Evie ushered Sage, Stella, and Simon to her brother, Elijah and his mate, Molly, I handed Shepherd over to my brother-in-law.
“Love you Mommy. Love you Daddy.” Sage smiled, waving at us. We blew kisses and watched as Elijah and Molly took them away.
“I swear, Everleigh, we will see them again.” I promised my mate, kissing her fiercely.
“Our kids are safe, Noah, that’s what’s important. We have to fight for a better world for them. Their half-human and half-wolf, we can’t let the Council win.” Everleigh’s eyes were dark as her inner Luna came forward.
My mate might not have a wolf, but her Luna was so fierce that it didn’t matter. She had the spirit of a wolf and that’s what made her so dangerous and so strong.
“Lucy, you’re staying, end of story!” Sawyer growled at my younger sister and I didn’t bother to stand between them.
A few months ago, when my sister turned 18, we learned that she was mated with my Gamma. Honestly, it was the worst day of my life and I’m still recovering. I spent most of the time in denial, completely ignoring them both.
“Lucy, enough.” Evie’s overpowering Luna voice consumed Lucy, “You’re staying here. Sawyer needs to focus and he can’t with you in danger.” Lucy bowed her head and bared her neck in submission.
“Yes, Luna.” Lucy said. Evie sighed, hating to use her authority over anyone, especially family.
“Sawyer, you’re coming with us. Greyson and Gena….” She started to order my brother who just snorted at her.
“Don’t even try it. We’re coming. The Council is fighting against my right to be with my mate.” Greyson shoved passed Evie and she clamped her mouth shut.
“Jack will stay and defend the pack. You’re in charge while we’re gone.” I said, kissing Evie’s forehead and narrowing my eyes on my brother.
Jack was twenty and had taken over more responsibilities in the last few years. He hasn’t met his mate yet and I think that it bothers him more than he lets on. So, to keep him occupied, he’s become my Delta, or fourth in command. Not many packs had Delta’s anymore, with the Luna taking on more responsibilities in the more recent century, a need for a fourth in command vanished. But, I was proud of my brother for wanting more duties, so I titled him Delta, anyway.
“You can trust me, Noah.” Jack nodded sternly, shaking my hand.
I circled Evie in my arms, pulling her close to me for a private moment before we went off to war.
“Do you want to call your brothers?” I asked her quietly.
“No, Becks and Isaac are better off not knowing. Eli knows what to tell them if something were to happen.” She sighed, leaning back into my arms for just a second.
I turned her in my arms and pressed my lips passionately to hers, wrapping my arms around her body and pulling her as close to me as I could. After a moment of intimacy, she sighed and pulled away.
“I love you, Noah.” She said, “We have to go.” I nodded in agreement.
I followed Evie out to the cars which were already lined up down the driveway. We had to make it the entire way across the country and it was too long to travel on foot, or rather, by paws, so we would travel as the humans do. Evie, Sawyer, Greyson, Gena, my patrol group Delta, and myself would all travel by plane to get there quicker. The rest of the warriors would travel by car and meet us there.
