Isabel folded her arms over her chest and grinned at us. “It was helpful to me.”
“Then you know what powers he gave you?” Caius asked her.
She shrugged. “No, but the powers of a deity are not to be taken lightly. Now, though-” She walked past us and toward the doors. “I have a castle to explore.” She paused in the doorway with her hand on the frame and half-turned to us with her sly smile. “Good luck. You will need it.” She slipped away, leaving Caius and me alone to bathe in the glow of the flickering fire.
