ANOTHER WAR

You shouldn’t worry about me, I can take care of myself” she yelled at her as they raced for the border but just as they were about to run out of the market, Gaia spotted a boy around her age under a stack of planks, he was hooked under it and was struggling to push them off him but all to no avail, even his leg was bleeding

 Gaia stopped and took another turn making Aurelia wonder what happened to her so she stopped to check where she was running off to

“Where do you think you are going to?” Aurelia called out to her and she stopped for a bit

“He’s in danger” she said pointing to the direction of the boy before dashing to where she was going to and Aurelia could not even stop her even though the soldiers of the enemies arresting people were already surrounding the market and rounding people, taking them into s*****y.

She ran to the place and started pushing the planks off but it didn’t budge because they were heavy and too much for her

“Damn it! How did you end up under something so heavy?” she cursed under her breathe as she struggled with the planks

There was no one to call since they were all busy running for their lives and no one was ready to risk their lives or get caught, Aurelia who would listen to her was already old and wouldn’t be able to lift them with her

“I will try for the last time, if it’s not successful then I am sorry but I will leave you here because I don’t want to be captured with these people as a slave” she informed him and he could see the fear and hope in his eyes at the same time

She closed her eyes and muttered for the heavens to intervene and help her, suddenly a wave of power rose up within her and her body was flooded with power, she placed her hands on the plank and breathe out before pushing at the planks all flew off in the direction which she had pushed them

“Oh thank goodness, thank you so much, I thought I will die under this place” the boy said bursting into tears making her realize that she had indeed saved someone from dying

“It’s not time to cry now, we should escape for now, the soldiers will be here anytime soon and I am sure that you don’t want to be a slave, or do you want to be one?” she said ignoring his cries

“I don’t want to be a slave, please help me” the boy replied in a pleading manner and she stretched forth her hand to help him up which he grabbed immediately without hesitation

The sky turned dark as if it would rain, everywhere was filled with noise and many of the citizens have been captured making it quite impossible for them to get out of the market since the soldiers were everywhere. She cursed as she ran around with the boy who was getting weak already since he got hurt under the planks

“This will not do, we need to get to the boat as fast as we can” she muttered and she didn’t know when her strong side took over

To the boy’s surprise, she grabbed him and threw him on her back before nodding at Aurelia who nodded her head to give her permission and with insane speed, she ran passed the people out of the market. She was running hard and fast till she got to the boat and just as she dropped the boy in the boat and turned, Aurelia was at her back

“You used your powers?” she asked in shock

“You expected me to get caught before I use it? I may be old but I am still the keeper of the powerful island so what do you expect? You must think so lowly of me” Aurelia countered and she chuckled as the boat set on sail before they get arrested by the rebels

She noticed that the boy’s wound was getting worse as blood refused to stop coming out of it and panicked that he might not make it to the island

“In times like this, you can also use your healing power. Your powers are not just for emergencies or to showcase how strong you are, you can also use the powers to heal someone but since you have not been trained in that, I will do it for you this time, I think it’s time you learnt how to use and control your powers now” Aurelia informed her and slowly moved closer to the boy

She held the leg and muttered some incoherent words and immediately the blood stopped coming out of the wound. After three minutes, the boy slept off on the boat but Aurelia told her not to worry because he was sleeping due to her spell

They got to the shore and he was pulled out with the help of the men on the boat before Gaia and Aurelia joined him on the ground

“how are we going to carry him now that he’s sleeping?” she asked glancing at Aurelia who returned her gaze

“You should carry him just like you did at the market, why are you looking at me?” Aurelia declared and she wanted to protest that she might not be able to do that anymore

“Don’t worry, your powers are still intact, you can carry him” Aurelia told her with a smile and she happily carried him not because she was that nice but because she had missed her powers so much and now that she could use it, she will make sure to use every bit of the opportunity

“It sure feel nice to use your powers right? This is what you should use them for not to destroy, your heart is getting warmed up and your attitudes and use of power proves it” Aurelia said before patting her on her back

“I don’t know why I feel happy using it, maybe because I am helping a sick boy? Anyways I don’t know when it will get taken away but I do hope it will last for a little while” she said truthfully as they walked their way to their own island after passing through the towns

Just as they stepped on the island, she felt the heaviness of the boy she was carrying suddenly and realized that it has been taken away

“It went away so fast” she groaned as she tried to hold unto the person she was carrying so he wouldn’t fall off her back

“You will only realize now that you are carrying a full grown man and not a boy” Aurelia teased her and she shot a glare at her as she managed to pull herself and the person on her back to the house that’s thankfully not too far from the shore

Aurelia helped him off her back unto the mat laid on the wide table outside before instructing her to bring the treatment box which she went to bring immediately.

Shirley who was thrown to the embroidery department which was another section of the palace that is far from the main palace by Jerrick after that night incident because he wanted to separate her from her husband intentionally. The department is divided into sections and some would make clothes for the king and the other royal officials, some for the slaves in the palace and others for the people outside. The ones who make for the people outside are the lowest, they would make scarfs and other items, then take the clothes to the market to sell them and deposit the money in the royal treasury which explains why she and Gaia met at the market but none of them could recognize each other since they parted so long ago.

Convel was drafted to be a border soldier by Jerrick too just to take revenge on him for snatching away Shirley and when he saw the war approaching the city, they had tried their best to stop them but they were overpowered by them and also Convel could not fight well and strong enough like he would if he was still a wolf.

“I must go get my wife” he said through the chaos and grabbed an available horse which he raced to the city with and luckily for him he got to the market on time, he helped her up the horse and they escaped the claws of the enemies.

They ran to the river and followed the last boat which took them to the other town where they decided to settle down for the main time before finding their way out of all the mess

“what happened? Why are we suddenly invaded?” she asked Convel as they walked into the town

“Today is the prime minister’s coronation as the new king, you know he has been acting as the king for a while but since he attacked the hand that helped him on the throne, the werewolves side laid low and pretended as if they wouldn’t attack him for what he did and after planning their ways, they attacked everywhere today, I am sure the palace will be in trouble too by now, I am just glad that you came out of the palace, it would have been a disaster” Convel explained

“There is never a day of peace in this country thanks to the power drunken family, I pray they all rot in hell” she cursed as they saw a food tent in front

“I think we should get ourselves something to eat before moving on to find a place to stay, I guess this is how fate wants us to meet again” she added and held his hand with a smile

They settled down at the food tent and ordered for food with the money she had made while selling the scarfs and they were served their food after waiting for a while

“are you new in our town?” the food vendor asked as she set the bowls of food on their table and they nodded

“You will enjoy our town since it’s a place of blessings” the food vendor added before lifting up her eyes to see them when she suddenly gasped and the couple looked up to see what happened to her

“My princess” the food vendor suddenly shouted and bowed at her feet

“Lady Carolyn? Is that you?” Shirley muttered and returned the spoon she picked to eat earlier. She stood up and lifted her up so she could see her face properly

“Lady Carolyn, how come you are here? You were alive?” she said with tears forming in her eyes

“Yes my princess, I managed to stay alive all these while, I am alive my princess” Lady Carolyn cried at her feet and Shirley hugged her as they both burst into tears

“I thought something happened to you my princess, I never knew I will see you again but here you are. How did you manage to escape with your husband?” Lady Carolyn cried into her shoulder

“It’s a long story that cannot be said on the spot, we really went through a lot” Shirley replied with tears in her eyes and they both hugged each other tightly once again while Convel just watched the happy reunion in his presence

“Where is my baby? Is she doing fine? Where is she?” Shirley asked looking around to see if she would see anyone familiar

“She is alive and well but you will have to eat first while waiting for her, you are obviously famished and tired” Lady Carolyn remarked as she ushered Shirley to sit down back and have her food before they discuss anything

The boy who was the same age as Gaia was treated for three days straight with herbs and other things before he regained consciousness on the night of the third day

“You are awake? How are you feeling now? Is there any kind of pain anywhere?” she asked him as he saw him sit up

“Where am I?” the boy asked slowly looking around the house with the help of the lit up candles all around the corners of the room

“You are in my home, can’t you remember the person who saved you from under the planks?” she asked further

“So am I dead or alive? It feels like a dream” he asked ignorantly and Gaia smacked him on the back suddenly

“That hurts” he shouted rubbing his back

“that is the best way to know if it’s a dream or reality so judge yourself if its real or you are dreaming” she said unapologetically as Aurelia came in to the room

“You shouldn’t hit a sick person” Aurelia cautioned before placing the tonic she prepared in front of him

“drink it up, it will boost your energy” Aurelia said motioning to the boy who bent to pick up the tonic but a necklace with a globe pendant fell from his neck unto Aurelia’s feet and she bent down to pick it up with her eyes twitching.
