Arriving back at the manor, I overheard my mother and Beatrix whispering in her study.
Slowly creeping closer to catch some details of what they were talking about, but they suddenly went silent.
‘Everett?’ My mother walked out almost instantly as I got to the door, ‘Oh good, you’re back,’ she said, ushering me away from the door, ‘Make sure you’re ready, our guest will be here shortly.’
‘What was Beatrix doing to Amelia earlier?’
