I sat in the back of the car with dad, my eyes fixed on the window. I could barely see what was beyond the glass, tears blurring my vision. Dad had been silent ever since, and I knew he had nothing nice to say. I knew I had messed things up. Suddenly, he let out a sigh. "If something happens to Fabian, Gerald will never forgive us." His voice was hardly audible above the sound of the cars and the splattering rain. I swallowed, then looked down to my lap.
