Whoever this intruder was, I already hated him. He interrupted a date that was going extremely well with my little mate. Not only that, but now I had to take her out of her comfort zone and hide her away on the Alpha floor so my wolf and I didn't lose our minds with worry. Greyson followed me towards my office where Jack and one of the other members of my guard, Lucas, were keeping the intruder.
“Let’s get this over with so I can get back to my mate.” I grumbled, pushing open the office door.
Well, my day just got a whole worse.
I grabbed the intruder by his throat and threw him up against the wall. I felt my eyes darken as Remi fought me for control. My nails sharpened into claws as I half shifted, my canines extending and my eyes glowing dangerously. I felt Greyson, Jack, and Lucas surrounding me, on high alert.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I growled at him, positively seething. The man in my grasp gurgled in reply. I released my grip and watched as he crumbled to the floor, gasping for air.
“What’s got him in such a mood?” He croaked out, looking behind me.
“I have to echo his question, boss.” I heard Greyson say behind me. I grunted in response, walking away from the man on the ground and plopping down onto my desk chair. Greyson hauled the intruder from the ground and tossed him onto one of the other office chairs, sensing that he was an unwelcome guest.
My brother, the genius.
“What are you doing here?” I repeated my question, clenching my jaw and seething in my chair.
“I’ve come to ask for your permission to search your pack for a chosen mate who will strengthen my own pack.” The intruder announced. I must have lost my mind because I started laughing hysterically. Lucas and my brothers eyed me cautiously, trying to gauge how much of my sanity I actually had left.
“You’re shitting me, right?” I replied once I gained control of my laughter.
“No, Alpha, not at all. I haven’t found a suitable mate and my pack is getting restless. I, personally, don’t see the benefit of having a Luna at all, but the pack wants one. So, I thought if I could find one here, with the pack who houses some of the strongest werewolves in the country, I could please the pack and strengthen it at the same time.” The intruder shrugged.
What a pretentious jackass.
“Liar.” I roared at him. I stood up from my chair and crossed the room again,
“I know for a fact you found your mate.” I growled.
“I never said I didn’t find my mate, I said I haven’t found a suitable mate. Mine was weak and feeble and human.” The intruder shivered at the word. My brothers looked over at me, finally catching on.
The slithering sleazeball sitting in my office was none other than Alpha Russell Winters, Everleigh’s first mate and the wolf who attacked her. Greyson and Jack each grabbed one of Russell’s arms and launched him out of his chair, restraining him in front of me.
“What the hell is wrong with your brothers, Alpha Noah? Don’t they know I’m an Alpha?” Russell spat, struggling against their grip.
“They do. They also know what you have done to their Luna.” I seethed, dangerously close to going over the edge.
“I didn’t even know you found your Luna.” Russell argued. Just then, the door to my office flung open and Sawyer was standing on the other side. I immediately started panicking,
“What’s wrong with Everleigh?” Before I could approach him, Sawyer stumbled out of the way, revealing my beautiful, little mate.
“I felt like something was wrong….” Her eyes were wild and panicked as she looked around the room. The second her eyes landed on her first destined mate, they turned to pure fear.
She scrambled backwards, colliding with the wall in her struggle to get away. Sawyer immediately sensed that something was wrong and moved to stand in front of her defensively.
"You!” Russell dared to speak to my mate. I growled viciously at him as my brothers tightened their grip.
“You will not speak to her. You won’t even look at her.” I threatened him between clenched teeth. I crossed the room and wrapped my arm around my mate’s waist. She nuzzled her face into my chest and clung to my shirt.
“You’re safe, love.” I assured her, moving her away from Russell’s view.
“She’s your Luna?” Russell was shell shocked.
“Of course she is, she’s my mate.” I growed.
“She’s your mate?” This dude was slow.
“After you rejected the greatest gift you ever could have gotten, she found me. I’m her second chance mate and I don’t plan on screwing that up.” I glared at Russell.
“Noah, I want to leave.” My little mate’s voice squeaked from my chest. I kissed the top of her head and handed her over to Sawyer. Sawyer hesitantly placed his arm around Evie’s wasit and I nodded, giving him permission to do so.
“I’ll be upstairs soon, love, I promise.” I assured her as Sawyer escorted her out of the office, taking all my compassion and patience with them.
I turned my glare back on Russell.
“You are not welcomed here, ever. You will never request the help of this pack, again. My brothers will escort you out.” I ordered him, nodding towards Greyson and Jack.
“You’re a fool for accepting her,” Russell dared to speak,
“You have the strongest pack in the country, maybe even the world, and you have accepted a human mate. She will only bring you weakness. Rejecting her was the smartest thing I ever did, my only regret was not successfully killing her.” Well, I tried. Remi took control and slammed his fist into Russell’s face.
An animalistic roar escaped my mouth as I tackled Russell to the ground, clawing at his chest. He may be an Alpha, but he was no match for my strength nor my anger. I slammed his body against the wall, making the entire room shake. When he was crippled and barely clinging to life, I tossed him by his throat to my brothers.
“Secure him in the dungeon.” I ordered. Greyson and Jack dragged Russell out of my office with Lucas on their heels. I hurried into the conjoining bathroom and cleaned the blood off of my hands and face. I splashed water in my face, calming myself down, before running out of my office and towards the elevator.
Lucy, my sister, was waiting for me in the lobby. She grabbed my arm and forced me to listen to her.
“Lucy, I need to get to my mate.” I snapped.
“I know, that’s why I’m here. Now, don’t freak out, Sawyer is with her, but Evie left.” Lucy winced as I let out a thunderous growl.
“What?” I yelled.
“She wanted to leave and threatened to walk home if someone didn’t drive her. Sawyer thought you would at least feel a little better if she was escorted. She was really upset, Noah.” Lucy sighed.
“I know she’s upset! That’s why I wanted her to wait here so I could comfort her.” I said, furious.
“What did you want Sawyer to do? Restrain her?” Lucy glared at me.
“No.” I grumbled.
“Exactly. So, he did the next best thing, he stayed with her so she would be safe.” Lucy’s hands were on her hips as she scolded me.
“I need to go.” I said, trying to get past my sister.
“I think she needs some time to herself, Noah.” Lucy said.
“I can’t do that.” I shook my head stubbornly,
“I need to at least see that she’s okay.” I shoved passed Lucy and jumped in my car. I drove to Evie’s house as quickly as I could.
