Chapter 2

1036 Words
Zinnia's POV 3 days before Shawn's birthday "Ohh, that was so good, baby." he breaths out, smiling that bright white smile that always seems to melt my heart. I detach my lips from his manhood and begin to wipe my face. "You shot into my hair, you big jerk. You have to give me a warning next time." I scold him. He flexes and stretches as he lays in bed, unconsciously giving me a show as I marvel at the muscles covering his back. "Sorry, you were keeping the perfect pace, I didn't want to say anything that would make you change it. You were in the zone, baby." He reaches down and gives me a peck on the lips. He climbs out of bed while I stand in front of a mirror to make sure I completely wipe his essence from out of my hair. No, I don't particularly enjoy it, but I know there are certain things a girl has to do to keep her man happy, especially since I refused to let him mate me until we were official. I had to remain the only girl on his mind and make sure that he wouldn't be with anyone but me until then. I couldn't have these other females in the pack looking down on me if I was going to be their Luna and I couldn't keep an eye on him at school since I graduated early. In the end, though, I wouldn't let us mate because I wanted what every she-wolf wanted. Sparks. They say that when you sense your mate for the first time, what gets you is their scent. Once you lock eyes, you know that they were created by the Moon Goddess for you, you understand without exchanging a word what they are to you. When you finally do touch, sparks travel on your skin, a trail is left everywhere their fingers or lips graze. Its supposed to feel delightful. I wanted nothing less. It truly was an unparalleled gift from the Moon Goddess. The perfect endowment that made it obvious how much She cared for Her creations, werewolves and how much She wanted us to be with the mates She picked out for us. At least that's how I always saw it. Mother and some of the older women would also tell us that about the Exchange, the ability that only true mates had to communicate telepathically by sharing images with each other. They could share things that had happened in the past, what they were doing in the present or their vision for the future. I needed that, the potential to be so completely in tune with someone else that you could share the same thoughts. That connection with my mate was the only thing missing in my life. Since my true mate was an Alpha, our connection through the Exchange would be stronger and more vivid than others. "You excited about my birthday?" he asks, coming up behind me and kissing me on the cheek. He wraps his big, muscular arms around me and I look at us in the mirror. We make such a cute couple. We have matching afros. After his birthday, I would finally be complete in a way I hadn't been since I lost my parents. I wouldn't just be an orphan, I'd be someone important, someone loved and looked up to by the entire pack. I was more excited for his birthday than I had been for my own. "Yes, and I already have an outfit picked out." I tell him, "It should be coming tomorrow." Our pack lands are secluded, so anything anyone from the pack orders online goes to a drop off center, about a few miles away from my home so that the humans don't have to enter our pack lands to deliver mail. Since I don't have a car, I order a lot online and I mail a good amount of things out, so I make frequent trips there either as a nice walk in my human form, or if my wolf is restless and she feels like talking to me. When she is up for it, I shift and we go for a run. "I can't wait to see what you wear for me." he says, kissing me again. "Do you need any money?" "No, I'm all set for your birthday." I smile at him. Shawn always offers me money, but I never take it. I have some money that my parents left me and I make money by selling custom mechanical art pieces on Etsy. "Now go, you have to get ready for school. And you can't spend the night here anymore until your birthday!" I shout as he runs out of the room. I have an idea of how I want our first day together as mates to be. I want him to see me fully dressed in my outfit first, acknowledge us as mates before everyone, then he can take my clothes off later. "Boooooo." he calls back playfully. I leave my house a few minutes after him to see my people off to school. Shawn, Chrissy Anna, Nala and our future Beta and Gamma, Alex and Rodney, pile into Shawn's car. Chrissy Anna and Nala were still in school and would be graduating with Shawn. No one else in the car had found their mates yet. "I wish you were coming with us." Shawn pouts. "Don't worry. I'll be here when you get back." I tell him, blowing him a kiss. He dramatically catches it and slaps his cheek with it, making me laugh. "We'll make sure no one takes him from you, Z." Chrissy Anna tells me. "I'm not worried about that. Just make sure he doesn't get into any fights, you know he's a hot head." "But he gets all sweaty when he fights, it's so hot!" Chrissy Anna responds, making me roll my eyes. I can't disagree, but that's not really something I love hearing from her. What can I say, I'm a bit possessive about my mate. I wave as they hit the road but when they are a good distance away, a warrior appears from behind me.
