Chapter 12

“No way!” Boris screamed as he looked at Jenny as if she had completely lost her mind.

Jenny, on the other hand, was completely unaffected by his reaction as she expected him to react exactly like that when she told him about his task for his dare. So instead of saying anything she just stared at him while having this evil grin plastered on her face.

“I’m not going to do this Jenny,” Boris said firmly but again Jenny didn’t say anything nor did that evil smirk left her face and Boris groaned in frustration. “Well, I’m not going to do this no matter what. This is just so ….. ugh …. how can you even think about it? I won't do it and that's final.”

“Yes, you are going to do it. It’s your dare and you can’t just deny it. You’ll have to do it.” Jenny said finally.

“But I don’t even know how to do it!” Boris tried to reason with Jenny.

“No one here expects you to know how to do it, Boris. Just try. That’s all I’m asking for.”

“But I can’t! How can you ask me to do this! How can you do that to me! I mean I thought that you loved me?” Boris pouted.

Jenny laughed at his childish attempt to make her change her mind and said “Awwww.I do love you Boris but remember the rule? No partiality on the game?”

“Come on baby you can’t be that hard on me. I’ll buy you your favorite chocolates and Ice-creams and flowers. I’ll give you whatever you want. I’ll do anything for you, anything but that.”

Jenny looked at Boris skeptically raising an eyebrow. “Seriously? I mean I know that you guys still consider me a little childish and all but really Boris, this? You actually thought that you can bribe me out of this with candies and flowers? Now you will just have to do this dare.” Jenny declared stubbornly.

“But Jenny, I’m a guy!”

“Oh, I can assure you that I know that you are a guy.”

“Huh very funny. You know what I meant.”

“Yes I do but what you should know is that no excuse is going to work.”

Boris looked at Jack desperately to get a little support from him but he was clearly finding this whole situation very amusing. And as soon as his eyes landed at Jack, he threw his arms up in surrender and said “Whoa Boris don’t look at me that way. I’m not doing the mistake of opposing my wife. Sorry, bro but you are not getting any help here.”

Boris sighed in frustration hearing this while Jenny gave him a satisfied grin. Boris turned his gaze to Laura as his last hope who looked at him guiltily. “Uh… umm… Boris, I can’t help you either.” She said biting her lower lip.

“Laura! You are my wife! You are supposed to stick up for me!” Boris said exasperatingly.

“Boris I want to help you but I can’t because it’s a game. And besides…” Laura didn’t finish her sentence and looked down quickly blushing.

“Besides what Laura?” Boris asked suspiciously.

“Umm…. Nothing.” Laura replied and Boris narrowed his eyes on her. “Alright, let’s just be honest. I’m curious to see you doing that.” She blurted.

“YOU ARE CURIOUS TO SEE ME PERFORM BELLY DANCING?” Boris asked incredulously cringing as he said the words “belly dancing”. He still couldn’t believe that Jenny had told him to do that as his dare.

“Well, I’m sure that it’s definitely going to be a sight worth seeing.” Laura said stifling a laugh and added quickly as she saw his face, “And it’s not like you’ll have to perform it in front of a mass or anything. It’s just us. Come on honey. We won’t even make fun of you!”

“Yeah right!” Boris said sarcastically and sighed inwardly. He couldn’t believe it. He couldn’t believe that they are actually making him do this!

Jenny clapped her hands to get Boris’s attention. “Okay baby boy. You’ve wasted enough time whining. Now we want to see you in action.” Jenny grinned and looked at him expectantly.

Boris thought about his options and sighed. Knowing Jenny, he’d have no escape from this. So better be just done with it.

“Alright. I’ll do it.” He said finally.

Jenny tried, really tried to control her crazy laughter. But what was happening in front of her eyes was too hilarious to give her any chance to sober up. So she continued to laugh like a crazy girl.

Laura was wiping her tears that came as a result of too much laughter. And Jack was practically shaking with laughter but he somehow managed to tone it down.

After a while, Boris himself couldn’t contain his laughter at the ridiculousness of this. So he joined Jenny, Jack, and Laura while they were laughing their heart at his poor attempt of belly dancing. He had no idea what he was doing as he continued swinging his body with the music. Finally, the song ended and he stopped that of his poor excuse of belly dancing and joined the rest of the group.

As soon as he sat on the floor beside Laura still laughing Jenny pulled him in a bear hug.

“Dude, I didn’t know that you were such a good belly dancer.” Jenny joked grinning as she released him from the hug. “Why didn’t you ever tell us about this special talent of yours?”

“Because I like to keep my ‘talents’ hidden. You see I’m a very polite guy.” Boris joked back.

“Really Boris, the way you were dancing, I would’ve thought that you were a pro at belly dancing if I didn’t know any better,” Laura said laughing making Boris groan.

“Don’t worry man. You did a great job. I’d have ended up doing far worse than you did if I was in your place.” Jack came to his rescue.

“Thanks, Jack. And now if you guys are done making fun of me then I think I and Laura should be getting back to home. It’s getting late.”

Jenny’s heart sank hearing this. She was enjoying their company so much that she didn’t even notice when the time flew by. Then as she glanced at the clock she realized that Boris was right. It’s getting late and they should probably head home right now but she wasn’t just yet ready for them to leave! She didn’t want them to leave! It felt like they just met and now they are already parting. As she glanced at Laura, she saw the same emotion playing on her face.

“Now don’t you two go being all sad. You two can meet each other and make plans together all the time, just like you used to do before marriage. And I promise you that we’ll keep meeting frequently, right Jack?” Boris asked and Jack nodded his approval smiling gently.

“See? No need to be sad. Now both of you give me a smile like good girls.” Boris said patting their heads.

Feeling a little lighthearted at his assurance both Laura and Jenny smiled and Boris hugged them both. “That’s my girls,” He said.

“Okay, I guess it’s time to say goodbye.” He said standing up helping Laura with him. Jack and Jenny stood up too to walk them to their car.

All of them went outside near the car and hugged each other for a last time. “I’ll meet you soon” Laura said hugging Jenny tightly who was doing the same.

Meanwhile Boris was shaking his hands with Jack. “Keep her happy Jack. She is really special, that wife of yours.” Boris said in a voice so that only Jack could hear.

“I know.” Jack replied smiling affectionately as he glanced at his wife. Then turning his gaze back to Boris he said: “And I promise that I will always keep her happy.”

Boris gave him a friendly smile and then clearing his throat he called out for Laura. “Okay, honey I think you should release Jenny now. She is not going to disappear or something if you do. And besides, I think I’ll like to have a hug myself before we leave.”

Jenny and Laura broke the hug laughing while Jenny called out for Boris. “Come on, you jealous brat. Give your sis a big hug.”

“Yes sir!” he said laughing and as he pulled her into a hug he whispered into her ears, “Nice choice there, champ. He really is a great man and loves you a lot.” Then he pulled away from the hug and kissed her on the cheek affectionately like the big old brother he was. Then he headed at the car and waited for Laura.

Laura gave Jack a friendly hug as well and then she also headed for the car. Boris opened the door for Laura and closing the door after she got in, he walked to the driver's seat and also got in.

“Goodbye,” Laura said from the car.

“Goodbye. And Boris? Take care of my sister.” Jenny shouted the last part at Boris.

“I will.” Boris said grinning.

“Jack? YOU take care of MY sister.” Laura shouted at Jack.

And this time it was Jack who grinned and said: “I will!”

Boris started the engine and drove away while Laura was still waving at them. Jenny waved back with Jack standing close beside her as she saw the car slowly drive away and after a while, it was out of her sight.

She sighed contently putting her hand down. It was one of the best days of her life. Then her heart stopped beating for a second as she realized the fact. And it was…..because of Jack.
