The pains and agony never left me until I decided to seek revenge, but my quest took a surprising turn when I fell in love with the man who killed my family. My ex-husband also made me regret the love I have showered on him, yet I can't stop loving him.

As I search for my family's killers. I, SHIRLEY MATHEW, must confront the darkness within me and decide if I can forgive my ex-husband, who shattered my heart and still came back for me, or the Man who destroyed my family.

Chapter 1:The avenge
"Mum! Mum!! Mum!" Jennifer screamed, jolting me awake at 2:00 a.m. I rushed to her side, confused and disoriented. That's when I saw her, my mother, lying lifeless in a pool of blood outside my window. I was in shock; it seemed my world had ended; my heart kept racing, my feet and hands became numb, and I froze, unable to move or process what I was seeing. My mum left yesterday to go see her elder sister who was ill. Who could have done this? Why? I questioned myself while still standing there like a ply of wood. Jessica stared at me, her eyes flashing with anger as tears streamed down her cheeks. She managed to get up from the floor and tapped me to regain consciousness. I was overwhelmed with grief, unable to shed a tear. My heart felt heavy as I staggered and moved sluggishly into the sitting room to call an ambulance. Immediately, I hung up the phone and suddenly felt weak; the memories of my late mum flooded my head. I could hear the laughter, and how she teased me and my sister. I could hear the advice she gave to me, and at that moment, my vision became blurry, and everything suddenly went dark. Jennifer entered the house to Call me since the ambulance had come to carry my mother's body. But then, she saw me lying down helplessly as I wasn't breathing again. She panicked as she yelled for help running towards the ambulance to stop. “ Please, come help me. My sister is lying down helplessly; she was fine until now. I don't know what's wrong with her.” Jennifer's words were filled with panic as her breathing grew louder. ………….. My mum's body was sent to the funeral home while I was taken to a building I didn't know. I could hear Jennifer's voice lightly as she screamed and cried while pushing the stretcher that I was lying on. Jennifer followed the stretcher to the emergency room, but the medical staff asked her to wait outside. While being so confused about what to do, Tears tried rolling down her, but she fought back, her heart racing while she prayed. Immediately, Doctor Joan entered the emergency room; the nurses told her I had a cardiac arrest due to the death of my mum. Doctor Joan brought the defibrillator and placed them on my chest; there was no response, and I still lay down lifeless. She did it the second time; I saw myself in an unknown world differently from the one I remembered; my mum appeared to me; her smile was infectious, and her sparkling eyes and short hair looked beautiful. It felt real, I could feel her cold hands around my wrist as she held them and smiled. I smiled; my heart longed for her as I saw her. I tried talking, but it seemed my voice was stuck in my throat, and then she spoke out. “My child, you will be fine. All I want or you to look out for your elder sister and try to find the people who did this to me.” At this point, tears streamed down my cheeks; sadly, I couldn't say a word, and then she hugged me and left me in this cold world. Everywhere became dark until Doctor Joan placed the defibrillators on my chest the third time, and I sneezed back to life with tears streaming down at the corner of my eyes. Doctor Joan spoke to the nurse, “Bring the injections, she is alive.” …… Two weeks later, my sister Jennifer and I decided to investigate our mum's murder. Jennifer had already mapped out a plan before I could recover from the trauma Mum's death caused me. I could hear the sound of Jennifer's shoes approaching and then she entered my room, handing me an envelope. I gazed at her skeptical as I rolled my eyes, trying to Scan through what was inside the envelope. “A birthday invitation card?” I asked, still gazing at her. She nodded in affirmation, her eyes locked intensely on mine. She sat beside me and placed her hands on my lap. “This is an invitation card to one of the Richest billionaires in New York. The research points to them as a suspect.” I felt a surge of irritation, “ How should I help then? This wouldn't be too dangerous.” I said, sounding worried and scared. Jennifer continued staring at me as the grip on my hands tightened. “I will protect you with everything I have; we have to do this for Mum; we owe it to her. You just need to interact with them. The birthday party is tomorrow and I have got your dress and shoes covered.” I was in shock; I hadn't seen this version of my sister. She didn't seem worried or scared, I knew I had to do this for my mother. Just then, my phone beeped, bringing us back to reality. Jennifer looked at my phone, asking with curiosity, “Who is that?” I picked up my phone and saw it was a text message which said: “You don't have to go to the Party, it is dangerous!”
