Good Person

"No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart." Kapten & Son One week after we came back from Barcelona, everything went back to normal as I expected. The Black Tiger and I barely talk, the only words we exchanged were a simple "good morning" at the cafeteria during breakfast or "good night" in my way to the dorms. It was sad because I really wished we could be closer after spending a good time together in Spain, but it never happened. He spends his days at the training center or his room and he goes on missions almost all the nights. This morning, I woke up earlier than the agents in my dorm and jumped in the shower. I cleaned myself and put on some fresh clothes to start a new day. I styled my hair, put on the Chanel perfume Taehyung gave me and left the dorm. I walked in the empty corridors, humming a song I always loved since Heonwoo played it at the karaoke during my last birthday with him. It's called "A Daily Song" by Hwang Chi Yeul. I spotted Namjoon walking in front of the elevator and hurried to join him, "Morning!" I said, smiling widely. "Morning." he crossed his eyes and raised an eyebrow, "You're in a good mood this week huh." he chuckled. "What made you like this?" I shrugged, "I don't know. Maybe the trip to Barcelona was the thing that I needed. It was short and yet it helped me change the air and clear my mind a little." He hummed and rubbed his chin, eyeing me with suspicious eyes. "Is it just Barcelona or because you were with the Black Tiger?" "What?" I furrowed. "What does it have to do with him?" "I don't know..." he spoke slowly and with amusement in order to tease me. I frowned and hit his arm, "Hyung, I know what you're thinking. That's not it." I opened the elevator door and pushed the button to the first floor. "I know what I'm thinking is right." he said. "Both of you returned as a new person from that mission." "What do you mean?" I was suddenly curious. "Well, you are in a good mood comparing to how you were when you first came to the company, and he became less grumpy and you know what?" he chuckled. "He even asked me if I was doing well, can you imagine? It never happened Jimin, I'm telling you." I pressed my lips very hard not to show him that I was smiling. I'm so glad the trip could help him too. "It's not just the trip Jimin." the boss continued. "It's like your souls connected with each other and it made your bodies and minds feel at ease." "This is some deep s**t hyung." I chuckled. "I didn't know you could wake up so poetical." When we arrived to the first floor, we greeted some agents who just came back from a mission. "I'll see you later." Namjoon whispered to me before following them to hear their report. I entered the cafeteria and I was surprised to see it was empty for the first time in weeks. Only two tables were taken; one occupied by the Black Tiger and the other by Taehyung. "Good morning." I greeted the black haired agent who was as usual reading a book while drinking his coffee. "Morning." he mumbled quietly. This time, his eyes didn't rest on the pages but stared at me. He eyed me with a confused face, seeing my nice outfit. "Going on a mission?" he asked with a calm voice, almost like a whisper. I knew he didn't want anyone to hear his voice. I shook my head, "I just thought I could dress nicely." He simply hummed and sipped the coffee. "Namjoon hyung still doesn't let me go on missions alone." I pouted. "He's right." I heard him mumble. "And why is that?" I crossed my arms. "I trained well with Jungkook; I learnt to defend myself. I also know how to be discreet and quick." "It's not that simple. You need more time to be ready to go alone, if you go now you risk to get caught or get hurt." "It's okay if I get hurt." I shrugged. "That's how you become stronger." He stared at me with a frown on his face, "Namjoon wouldn't like that." "Namjoon?" I raised an eyebrow. "Or is it you? Why do I feel like you're worrying about me?" I smirked. "Hell I'm not worrying about you." he mumbled and finished his cup. "You're so full of yourself." I laughed and told him, "I'm just stating facts hyung!" I didn't want to look at his face because even though I could act shamelessly sometimes, I would feel so embarrassed deep inside. I cleared my throat and took a tray before heading to the buffet. It was Friday, so we were blessed with pastries again. I filled my plate and my glass with some fresh orange juice and went to sit with Taehyung. I put my tray carefully on the table and sat in front of him. I was to speak when I realized he looked down. His usual smile disappeared and the brightness in his eyes faded. It seemed like he didn't sleep well. I didn't know what to say or from where to start, so I decided to start by a simple question, "Where are the others?" "Jack and Jay just came back from Shanghai and Jungkook needs to coach some agents." he mumbled. "I see." I pressed my lips and started eating. I couldn't taste the chocolate pastry well because I couldn't stand seeing my friend this way. I was curious to know what happened to him and at the same time I was afraid to know. I turned my head and looked at the Black Tiger who was reading his book silently. It ached me to know there were a lot of mysterious minds in this company. Everyone had a story that couldn't be shared with just anyone. I wished I could help them and make them trust me, but there again...I have my story too. "It's my mother's birthday." Taehyung spoke suddenly. I froze. "You don't know how much I wish to spend this happy day with her and my sister." It hurt me to see tears forming in his eyes. I couldn't say anything, so I simply rested my hand on his and squeezed it gently. "The last time I saw her, she was crying so hard, begging me to stay with her." he sighed. "She said that she will do everything not to let the police take me away from her, she said she would tell them everything my father did to her and make them believe that I was just protecting her." I couldn't bare seeing him crying so I searched in my pocket and found the handkerchief the Black Tiger gave me that night in Barcelona. I held it in my hands and smiled softly before giving it to my friend. He whispered a small "thank you" and wiped his tears. "As much as I wanted to stay with her and forget everything, my heart just won't let me think so. No matter how much my father hit her and made her suffer everyday, I just couldn't imagine killing him someday. I know I mostly didn't regret killing him because he got exactly what he deserved, but never have I ever wanted to become a criminal." I pressed my lips, drowned in my own thoughts. I never related this much to someone before. No matter how disappointed and angry I was to catch Junsun cheating on me with my best friend, I would have never imagined myself using my trophy to end their lives. The adrenaline of the moment makes the revenge taste sweeter, but when it goes, that's when it hits you. "She must be worried about me." I heard him sigh. I cleared my throat and looked at him with a small smile. "How about you send her flowers? Just to let her know that you are doing well and that you always think about her." I said. I saw him hesitating. "I'm sure she'll be happy to receive them Tae, trust me. What you did...she knows you did it for her and I'm sure she's so grateful that you freed her from all sufferings and sadness." He finally lifted his head and looked at my eyes. I saw his lips forming a smile before he said, "You really are the best thing that happened in this company." I chuckled, "Jungkook won't like hearing this." "You and him of course." he nodded. "I'm so happy to have you." "And I'm happy to have you too." I caressed his hand. "I will send her the flowers." he said. "In anonymous of course, but I will write something that'll make her now it's me." "Great!" I smiled widely. Taehyung smiled back and finished his last part of croissant. "Thank you Jimin and I'm so sorry for burdening you this early in the morning." "No, don't say that." I shook my head. "I'm happy that you talked to me about it." He stood up and hugged me tightly, "You're the best." he whispered before kissing my cheek. I chuckled and saw him leaving the cafeteria, his face looking brighter than before. I sighed and rubbed the back of my neck. I know how difficult it was to convince yourself that you did the best thing when in reality you didn't. No matter how much I tried to forget, my thoughts would always go back to that moment when I screamed like I never did before, when I ignored their begging and tears and kept on hitting them until blood surrounded them. I know I gained nothing from killing them. The only thing I did was to lose the only people I had in my life and disappoint my mother. I closed my eyes and mentally begged myself to chase the thoughts from my mind, but it was so difficult. I felt tears falling on my cheeks and my chest tightening. Thankfully, Taehyung left the handkerchief on the table. I took it and hurried to wipe my face. In a fraction of seconds, my thoughts moved from that tragic moment to that night in the car when the Black Tiger looked at me with soft eyes and offered me his handkerchief. When I turned my head, I saw him standing up, his eyes not leaving mine. He was walking toward me, I knew he saw me crying. I saw him open his lips to say something when Hoseok cut him off, "Jiminie!" he ran to me and hugged me. "I missed you." I laughed awkwardly and watched him leaving the cafeteria. "Were you crying?" the orange-haired asked. "No." I lied. "I just...caught a cold." "Catching a cold in this heat?" he raised an eyebrow. "How strange." "It happens." I shrugged. "How was the mission in Shanghai?" I asked, to change the subject. "It was good." he said. "You know how funny it can be with Jack." "I wish I could go on a mission with him someday." I laughed. "How about me?" he pouted. "Don't you wanna travel with me somewhere? I can assure you it would be less boring than with the Black Tiger." I frowned, "Hyung, it wasn't boring with him." I said. "How so?" he crossed his arms. "Does he really talk to you?" I nodded, "We even hung out together." He frowned and bit the inside of his cheek. It upset me to see him getting mad every time I mention the Black Tiger to him. I don't like him thinking that he's a bad person when I know he's not. "Anyways, that guy is strange and I don't like seeing you with him." he shrugged. "Hyung." I mumbled coldly. "I can be with whoever I want. Don't be like this please." "Where are you going?" he asked when he saw me leaving. "Out." I mumbled. ~~ I had no training that morning so I left the building and headed to the garden. I chose a bench under a big tree and sat there, facing the colorful flowers and green plants. It was the biggest charm of this place, the boss made sure that all the windows overlook this beautiful view. He never talked about it before, but I know he did it to make the agents feel better, and it worked indeed. Being surrounded by nature makes you feel at ease. My gaze turned to the parking lot and I realized that his motorbike wasn't there. I wanted to talk to him and ask him about what he wanted to tell me earlier in the cafeteria. I like Hoseok, he's kind but I don't appreciate the way he thinks about the Black Tiger. I wish he could see how much of a good and caring man he is, just like he looked at me when he saw me crying. I really needed to see him. I stood up and headed back to the building. I met the boss in the reception and asked him, "Where is the Black Tiger?" "He just left a few moments ago, he has a mission." "Oh." I rubbed my neck. "Why?" he chuckled. "Missing him already?" "Shut up hung." I rolled my eyes. He placed his hand on his chest in a dramatic way and widened his eyes, "Who asks his boss to shut up?" "I do." I laughed. He laughed too and patted my back, "Why are you asking for him?" "I just want to ask him something." "I see." he smirked. "He'll be back tonight, so you can ask him later." I frowned. Oh, how much I hated that smirk of his. "By the way, where are you going?" I asked, seeing him all dressed in leather, reminding me of the first day I saw him when he convinced me to accompany him. "I have my mission." he smiled. "Someone needs me." "You're playing the superhero again." I chuckled. "The superhero saved you from the misery, remember?" he ruffled my hair. "You should thank me." "I know." I rolled my eyes. "I forgive you just because you're cute." he winked and left the building. "Pfft." I laughed and watched him leaving to his car. I had nothing to do during in my free day. Usually, when I didn't have classes or any assignments to be done, I would go to the academy and head to an empty room to practice dance. I would always put my favorite playlist and dance until I feel exhausted and satisfied. Now that I'm thinking about it, I really miss dancing. I walked next to the training room and saw that it was empty so I ran to the dorms to change. Heading back, I saw Taehyung and Jungkook walking in the corridor, hand in and. I giggled because I never saw the coach acting sweet with someone. He's the quiet type who barely speaks and seeing him whispering cute words to his boyfriend made me internally scream. I didn't want to disturb them so I walked quietly far from them and looked at them with dreamy eyes. I wished I could find someone who would make me smile the same way Taehyung is smiling to his lover and look at me the same way Jungkook was looking at him. I entered the training room and connected the phone Namjoon bought for me to the speakers. I stood in the middle of the room, facing the mirror and closed my eyes to take a deep breath. When the music started, my body moved automatically with the melody, like it was being controlled by it. After so long, I finally felt free, energetic and...alive. ~~ In the evening after dinner, Hoseok called me and I went to meet him in the lobby. He wanted to show me the pictures he took in Shanghai. "I never regretted buying a camera, it looks good." he smiled, showing me some photographs of buildings and streets. "Yeah it looks colorful." I said. "You need to come with me this time, you'll like it." After a few moments, I heard people whispering and laughing. I turned my head and gasped when I saw the Black Tiger entering the building, his arm covered with blood. I looked at people and widened my eyes, wondering how they could laugh when one of the agents is hurt. "Seems like the tiger became a little cat now." Hoseok chuckled and immediately regretted it when I sent him a death glare. "Who's the tiger now?" all the agents laughed, enjoying to see him suffering silently. I clenched my fists and faced them all, my chest bursting with anger. "Stop it!" I screamed. "All of you are so childish!" "Come on Jimin don't take his side." they rolled their eyes. "If any of you laughs again, I'm gonna make him regret it." I mumbled coldly before running to help the injured agent. "Don't defend me." he closed his eyes tightly and groaned with pain. "Let's go to the clinique." I hurried to put my hand around his other arm and walk toward the elevator. I ignored all the whispers and talks, I only wanted to help him. I looked at his bleeding arm and frowned when I saw how deep the wound was. "What happened?" I asked. "That asshole sent his bodyguard after me." he mumbled with a weak voice. "He attacked me with a knife. Thanks god I could run away in time, or else I would have died." My heart ached, I didn't like him talking about death. I couldn't imagine him disappearing from my life when he just entered and brightened it a little bit. "I failed the mission..." "You are more important than the mission. I'm sure Namjoon hyung told you this before." When we arrived downstairs, I called for the doctor but no one was there. "Dr.Lee?" I saw that the lights were turned off in her office. "It's Friday, they know there aren't many agents in missions." I heard him say. "But still, at least someone should stay here just in case." "It's okay, I'll just wash it and put a bandage around it." "Are you crazy?" I furrowed. "Your wound needs to be disinfected and sutured." I hurried to clean my hands. "Sit there." I pointed to one of the beds. I took the material needed and placed a chair in front of him. "It's gonna hurt a little." I said before injecting a yellow liquid in the syringe. "What are you doing?" "Local anesthesia. Can I take off your jacket?" He looked at me confusingly and nodded. I took off the leather jacket carefully, trying so hard no to hurt his arm so much. "Your gloves too." He groaned when I injected the liquid in his arm. "I'm going to clean the wound now." I took the bottle of alcohol and a clean cloth. I cleaned it gently until there was no more blood covering his arm. "It's deep." I whispered. "I need to close it before you lose a lot of blood." It wasn't my first time doing this, I used to help treating my friends at the dance academy or Junsun if he ever falls from his motorbike. The Black Tiger stayed silent while I slowly closed his wound. I could only hear his loud breath. "How did you learn to do this?" he asked. "From my mother, she's a nurse." I smiled sadly. "She taught me quite a lot of things." "I see." he nodded. I sighed, "She must be so disappointed in me right now." "Don't say that..." "I stopped seeing her after I moved to Seoul, I already hurt her enough and now...Now her son is a wanted criminal." I heard him take a long breath before he rested his hand on my head. "It was..it was a mistake." he said. "At least, you did it for a reason..." I lifted my head and saw him looking away. He seemed to be thinking about something that hurt him, but I didn't want to ask him yet. "You shouldn't let the other agents laugh at you." I told him. "You defend yourself." "As if I care about them." he sighed. "Let them laugh, it doesn't matter to me." "I don't like them thinking that you're a bad person." I mumbled. "Because I am." he said, making me look at him again. "I'm not the good guy you think I am." I frowned. "Don't say that." "You don't know me, you know nothing about my past and my mistakes." "I don't need to know." I shook my head. "Plus, we're all here because we made a mistake." "It's not the same." I heard him mumble quietly. I stopped what I was doing and kept staring at him. I could feel that he was avoiding my stare by looking around him. I know he had an untold story, but I will never pressure him to tell me. "Hyung." I said, resting my hand on his. "No matter what, I know you're a good person." I said with a smile. He turned his head and looked at me with tired eyes. "I wish I could think this way about myself." "You should!" I said. "We only met recently and we spent little time together, but it was enough for me to know that you're not bad as people may think." He chuckled and looked away again, "Remember these words when you'll know the truth." "Why?" "Because I know you will hate me like the others." My chest tightened. I let go of his hand and crossed my arms, "You're insane..." I shook my head. "Why would I hate you?!" I shouted. He looked at me with wide eyes. "I told you, no matter what, I know that you're not a bad person. And no matter what I know about you, I will never hate you hyung." He didn't say anything. He just kept staring at me while I finished the sutures. I cleared my throat and spoke again, "It's done." I smiled and hesitated for a moment before kissing his wound before I surrounded it with a bandage. He chuckled, "Nurses do this too?" "Just a special bonus for you." I winked. I stood up to take off the latex gloves and throw away the dirty cloths. "Thanks." I heard him say. I pressed my lips, trying not to smile too widely. I turned to him and said, "You're welcome." He rubbed the back of his neck, "I gotta go, I'm tired." "Yeah sure." I nodded. When he walked away, I called, "Hyung!" "Yeah?" he raised an eyebrow. "You forgot this." I took his gloves and his leather jacket and walked toward him. I couldn't feel myself getting closer when I faced him. He took his things in his hand, without breaking our eye-contact. I gulped and my heart beat insanely fast as I felt the tension growing between us. Our faces got closer until we could hear each other's heavy breaths. My eyes were hypnotized by his, they were literally drowning in his deep stare. Our lips were about to collide when we heard voices and footsteps approaching. We quickly looked away and cleared our throats. "I...I gotta go." he said before leaving the clinique. I closed my eyes and took a long breath. My chest was bursting and my desires were growing. "What is he doing to me..." I whispered. "Jimin?" I turned my head and recognized one of the young doctors. "What are you doing here?" "I should be the one asking why you're here till now." I mumbled coldly and left. When I arrived to the lobby, I saw a lot of agents gathering. I walked there and saw the boss facing the, a tall red-haired guy standing next to him. I spotted the Black Tiger watching from afar. Our eyes connected again, but I couldn't keep looking. I felt my cheeks warm up, thinking that we almost kissed again. "I was out today because this young man right here needed help." Namjoon started. "I convinced him to follow me here instead of running away alone, risking to be caught by the police." "What's your name?" Hoseok asked, opening his virtual notebook on his tablet. The stranger didn't answer. He kept looking at us with his cold eyes. "His name is Wonsik." the boss answered instead. "I don't really want to be here." the red-haired mumbled. "I gave you a choice." Namjoon told him. Wonsik kept staring around him until his eyes rested on mine. "Oh." he smirked. "What is it?" Hoseok asked. "I think I just changed my mind." he said. "I'm gonna stay, but only for this hottie." he said, pointing at me. The agents let a loud, "Ouh!" and started laughing. I felt so uncomfortable, having all eyes on me. I looked at him and sent him a death glare. I turned and saw the Black Tiger looking at me, I sighed and walked toward him when I felt someone grabbing my arm. "Where are you going?" Wonsik chuckled. "You should introduce yourself.
