"Quiet people have the loudest minds." Stephen King.
I couldn't concentrate on their conversation.
The only words I could hear were "party" and "Saturday". Taehyung was apparently throwing a pool party, making me wonder if there is actually a pool inside the building. It's too big that I didn't have the chance to see everything.
I let them speak and decide because my mind was elsewhere. I couldn't stop thinking about my first mission. I got to do things I never had the chance to do before, like riding a very expensive motorcycle and spending the night in a fancy five-star hotel. The bad side of it was that we had to infiltrate a stranger's room. I don't know how to feel about it to be honest. I know it's illegal and wrong, but from what the Black Tiger told me, Akiyama Tatsuki didn't seem like a good person. Perhaps what we did yesterday was the for the best.
He was sitting alone again at the same table in the corner, drinking his coffee. This time he was reading a different book, it only proves that it was the only thing that occupied him during the days, a part of sleeping of course.
He was reading so quietly that it seemed like there was no one around him. The cafeteria was noisy; sounds of spoons, dishes, laughter and loud voices, but the Black Tiger was in his own world.
"Ey! Jimin!" someone shook my arm, waking me up from the transe. I turned and saw all my friends staring at me. "Huh?" I shyly rubbed the back of my neck.
"Where were you?" Taehyung chuckled. "You travelled too far."
I laughed nervously.
"I think he's just tired after the mission." Jackson patted my back. "How was it by the way?"
"Your first mission with the Black Tiger, it must have been awful." Hoseok added.
I shook my head. "Not at all, it was fine."
"Really? Even though you didn't know much about the mission?" Taehyung asked.
"Oh no, he actually told me about Akiyama and the company. He also told me what to do, so it wasn't that complicated."
What I just said made them react in the strangest way possible.
Hoseok dropped his spoon, Jackson choked on his coffee and Taehyung and his boyfriend kept staring at me with wide eyes.
"Guys..." I chuckled nervously. "Why are you acting so weird?"
"We're not acting weird!" Taehyung exclaimed. "The weird thing is that he talked to you!"
"Are you sure you're talking about the Black Tiger?" Jackson asked after taking a sip of water. "That's impossible!"
"But why?" I laughed. "It's normal, no? I just asked him about the mission and he explained everything to me."
"Jiminie." Hoseok placed his hand on my shoulder, "When I told you that the Black Tiger doesn't talk to anyone, I really meant it. He never exchanged words with any of us, we don't even know what his voice sounds like."
I raised an eyebrow and looked at the guys who were nodding. I laughed and ran my fingers through my black hair, "Guess I gave him no choice then."
"That's strange." I heard Jungkook mumble. "Jimin hyung is a newbie."
I was more than confused.
Why would he talk to me if he never talked to anyone before?
When I heard it first, I thought the Black Tiger just preferred to keep his distance with people, I would have never imagined that they never even heard his voice.
Why me?
~~
After breakfast, I was heading to the dorm when I met Namjoon in the corridor. He asked me to follow him to his office. I got nervous because I thought something was wrong, maybe I messed up something during the mission.
Don't tell me that the camera caught us or something...
"Please sit." the CEO closed the door after him and sat in front of me. His arms and legs were crossed, showing all the confidence and charisma he had.
I still don't know what to think about Namjoon to be honest. I still need to know him better because I'm curious about the reason why he started this business and why he keeps helping young murderers... Like me.
"How was your first mission?" he asked.
"It was good." I answered. "Better than expected I guess."
He nodded and rubbed his chin, "I hope he wasn't too harsh."
I shook my head, knowing who he was talking about. "He explained everything and told me what to do."
He smirked, "So, he talked to you." he mumbled, still rubbing his chin.
"You find it strange too." I rolled my eyes. "But he talks to you too, no?"
He nodded, "Only about business."
"Then we're the same." I crossed my arms and looked around me.
The office was large, there was a big window that let the sun illuminate the entire space. A giant glass showcase was set all the way to a wall with Taekwondo competition prizes, foreign language diplomas and souvenirs from different countries. Namjoon was indeed someone who must have experienced and learned quite a lot of things. I should maybe take him as example.
"So, how did you feel?" he interrupted my thoughts.
"What do you mean?"
"Did you feel bad during the mission? Perhaps you didn't like why you were doing..."
"No." I shook my head. "I was nervous of course because I didn't want us to get caught, but I wouldn't say that I hated what we did. After the Black Tiger told me about the falsification, I knew it was a good thing to steal the papers and let the legal owner take the company."
Namjoon simply hummed and typed something in his laptop. I frowned because it looked like I was in some psychologist's office. "Why are you asking these questions?"
He finished typing and stared at me with a smile. He joined his hands over the table and sighed, "Because I always make sure my agents don't feel uncomfortable. There are some who don't like going on missions, so I give them other jobs to do."
I was amazed. This man is something else.
Not only does he save people from ending their life, but he also ensures their comfort.
Amazing.
I turned my head and froze when I saw my picture on TV. The medias were still talking about the death of Junsun and Heonwoo. I read that the police was still searching for me everywhere.
Namjoon quickly turned off the TV and stared at me.
I gulped and lowered my head. It was still surreal to me. It looked like a nightmare.
I still couldn't believe that I committed such a crime.
"Hoseok is going downtown later in the day." he said, to change my thoughts. "He's going to buy some stuff for the party, would you like to join him?" he asked.
"Oh, the party." I nodded. "I heard the guys talk about it, what's the occasion?"
"It's Taehyung of course." he chuckled. "He's a party king. He likes to organize a big one when summer starts."
"I see."
"So, you're going with Hoseok?" he asked again.
I didn't say anything. I had too much in mind that I couldn't think anymore.
"Can...can I really go?" I asked with a quiet voice. "I mean, what if they catch me? I shouldn't be seen."
"Don't worry about that." he smiled, "We aren't a super agent company for nothing."
"Let me guess." I crossed my arms, "Am I going to wear a wig and a mask?"
"Exactly." Namjoon smirked. "I wonder what pink hair would look on you."
"Ugh no!"
He laughed and gave me an envelope. "You have training right? Give this to Jungkook."
~~
Before I go out with Hoseok, I needed to attend a training session with Jungkook.
I entered the gym and sighed from relief when I saw it was empty. I really hate it when there are other agents because you know how bad is the combination of loud voices, heat and sweat smell. Awful.
"Hey Jungkook."
"Hey." my young coach greeted me. "Hope you rested well."
"I did." I lied and took the envelope from my bag, "Namjoon hyung told me to give you this."
He raised an eyebrow, "What's this?"
"Don't know." I shrugged.
When he read what it looked like a letter, I couldn't decipher his facial expressions. He seemed happy and sad at the same time. It made me curious to know, "Can I ask what's this about?"
"My brother is getting married." he said, his eyes not leaving the paper.
"Oh, aren't they good news!" I exclaimed.
"Yes, they are!" he smiled, but I could see his eyes watering. "I'm so happy he's getting married, but I can't go to his wedding."
"Oh..." I pressed my lips. "But how does Namjoon hyung know about this? When did he get this letter?"
He chuckled, "RM hyung knows everything." he said.
I watched him stare at the letter like it was the most precious treasure. It must have been hard for him to live far away from his family, especially when he's this young.
Being sad didn't look good on him so, I had this idea. "Say, do you want to go to your brother's wedding?" I asked.
"Of course, but you know I can't go. My family thinks I'm studying abroad and it's all messed up." he sighed.
I thought about what Namjoon told me earlier and smirked, "You know you can go." I said.
He raised an eyebrow and stared at me confusingly, "How?"
"You're an agent, right?"
He nodded.
"Let's imagine that Namjoon hyung sent you on a mission in a wedding. You should steal a paper or a precious jewel without getting caught. What should you do first?"
"Well, you should first dress up nicely to look like one of the guests and then infiltr-" he stopped when he finally realized what I was thinking about. He widened his eyes and stared at the paper then at me, "You're smart!" he exclaimed.
I burst out laughing because his face looked so funny. "Of course I'm smart!" I said. "I always get genius ideas, I'm maybe even smarter than Nam-" he didn't give me a chance to finish when he pinned me against the floor and blocked my legs with his.
"You're maybe smart, but you still need more training." he chuckled.
I rolled my eyes and tried to escape from him, but his grip was too strong that I couldn't even move. "f**k, you look like a baby but you got some damn muscles." I mumbled.
He laughed and let go of my arms. "Time for training now." he clapped. "You gotta strengthen your muscles too."
~~
"Woah! You look good!" Hoseok widened his eyes when I joined him outside the building.
I was too embarassed because I was wearing a baby pink wig, making me look ten years younger. I was also wearing a mask over my face and some clothes Taehyung gave me; a white shirt with black butterfly patterns and a pair of black trousers.
"Thanks." I shyly mumbled.
"Let's go." he put his hand on my back and walked to the parking lot.
We saw the Black Tiger getting off his motorcycle. He was wearing casual clothes, so he must have gone out to so something personal.
I watched him take off his black helmet and run his fingers through his messy hair. He opened the luggage rack and took a cardboard bag of a popular electronics store. I wondered if he bought a new phone.
He lifted his head and his dark eyes rested on mine, sending shivers through my body. Our stares didn't last more than five seconds, we quickly looked away.
I heard Hoseok mumbling something. "What did you say?" I asked.
"I said that I don't like this guy. He's just so weird."
I frowned.
Am I the only one who doesn't think he's weird?
If he doesn't talk to anyone, maybe it's his personal choice, maybe he feels more confortable alone. Also, I don't see a reason to hate him. He doesn't look like someone who loves problems or hurt anyone. He's so calm and peaceful that he mustn't be a burden to anyone.
When we walked next to him, I tried to look at him and smile, "Hey." I told him, but he just gave me a strange stare, probably because of my hair and left.
"Of course he won't answer me." I mumbled.
"Disrespectful shit." Hoseok mumbled. "That's why I don't like him. I don't understand why Namjoon keeps him in this company."
"Do you even know him?" I was pissed off. I didn't like seeing people judging others without knowing a single s**t about them.
"Thanks god I don't know him." he chuckled, "Or else I would have hated him more."
I clenched my fists and sighed heavily. I didn't want to be angry with him because he was nice to me. I just hoped he would stop saying such bad things about the Black Tiger because a part of me thinks that he is silent and reserved for a good reason.
I gasped when he opened the car. It was a black Mercedes C-Class Coupe, one of the cars I used to drool over in the fancy streets of Seoul.
These guys are damn rich.
"Is this your car?" I asked him.
He nodded proudly, "Just got this baby two weeks ago."
I got inside and that's when I totally lost it. If the exterior was cool, the interior designer was mind-blowing. A very classy black headboard with a tablet in the middle which controls the entire car. Blue LEDs were on the sides making the atmosphere seem fancier. Even the chairs were amazing, it was so comfortable that I could sleep every night on them.
Hoseok starred the car and looked at me, "What do you want to listen to? Pop? Rock? Jazz?" he asked.
"I just want to listen to good music." I simply answered.
He laughed, "Then I got a song for you. It's new and it's from 5SOS if you know them."
"5 Seconds Of Summer." I nodded. "I don't really listen to them, but yeah some of their songs are good."
"You gotta listen to this one." he played the song and we left the parking lot, heading downtown.
He opened the cabriolet's roof to let the gentle breeze caress us. It was sunny, so he gave me a pair of glasses and put another one.
You push and you push and I’m pulling away
Pulling away from you
I give and I give and I give and you take, give and you take
He started singing loudly with a broken English. I started laughing because he looked so funny, especially with his orange hair flying with the wind.
Youngblood
Say you want me
Say you want me
Out of your life
He kept singing and stopped for a moment to look at me. He smiled and rested his hand on my thigh to squeeze it. I raised an eyebrow, "What?" I asked.
"Remember Jihoon? The guy you met earlier."
"Yeah."
"He gave me two movie entries, how about we go together?"
What...
I looked at him and chuckled, "Are you asking me on a date?" I joked.
"Yeah." he smiled and stared right into my eyes, "I just wanna spend more time with you."
