Unexpected Mate

Chapter 12

POV: Elijah

I stop at a motel to sleep for the night. Jack and I still have a few hours to go to get back to the pack. Me having to turn back from the Crystal pack to get Jack kind of set my time off. I would have been back to the pack tonight but because of that and hitting some rough traffic along the way its now night and I'm tired and Jack's tired so we just decide to stop at a motel to rest and head back the rest of the way in the morning.

When I felt Lacey get upset earlier I was filled with anger hearing what Maya told Lacey. To be honest I had actually forgotten Maya even existed. I had totally forgotten about her. Thats how unimportant she is to me. She made Lacey second guess me. I will always choose her over anyone. Maya was always a bully I'm just sorry I realized that a little late in the game. I did end it when I realized what she was truly after. She had tried to get me back but it didn't work and so she left. Now she's back after the same thing and had not changed. I'm just glad Brandon was there and did his job of protecting her.

It wasn't long after I left the Crystal pack that Jack linked me to come get him. I didn't get there until after lunch so I've been driving all day. I had left my pack around four am to leave for the Crystal pack. The storm had stopped by then and I had the tree removed so I could get through. I was very shocked Jack wasn't mad or freaked out about Lacey being my mate. In fact he was glad that it was me. Lacey is going to be so relieved when she hears this. I didn't tell her I was bringing Jack back home with me. I'm going to surprise her.

I had linked Brandon and Dylan in forming them of the situation with The Lightning pack and to expect the warriors back and the Jack was with me. Brandon had told me a little bit more of what happened with Maya. Lacey did tell me what her last comment was and thats what really set her on edge. If I thought what Lacey told me before pissed me off I was wrong Maya's rejection comment did. I will never reject Lacey. I shut that down the first day I realized Lacey was my mate. I don't need Lacey thinking that again. Now I know why I needed to reassure her. Any thoughts of rejection in a wolfs eyes will produce doubtful thoughts of your mate. When I get back I'm going to deal with Maya. I have Brandon staying at the pack house to keep an eye on Lacey until I get back.

Jack and I enter the motel room. We got a room with two full size beds. Jack takes a shower while I order a pizza for dinner. After I link Lacey to check on her. "Hey Lacey I'm just checking in." I feel her happiness at hearing my voice in her head. "I'm fine. I just studied all day. I miss you." She links back sounding sad.

"How about this when I get back i will spend the entire day with you. Any day of your choosing. I promise." The excitement i felt from her made me very happy. "Yes. I would like that very much." She says happily. "What are you doing right now." I ask her. "I'm in the shower." She says. That little tease. An image of her in the shower pops in my mind. Oh what I would do to her if I were there right now. "And what would that be." She links back. Did I just link that to her. "Yes. You did and you linked that too." She links. "Oh. I had not realized." I say. "Well are you going to answer the question?" She teases. "Your a little tease you know that. I guess I'm going to have to do something about that when I get home." I tease her back. "Promise." She says. Now that we've marked each other the need to mate will be more I tense. "Gross are you having mindlink s*x with my daughter right now?" Jack interrupts our conversation. I look down and see I'm hard and very visibly so. "No. Well more like your daughter is a little tease is what happened." I tell him grumpy now. "Lacey I need to go now. I love you and I will see you in the morning. Remember you can sleep in my room or soon to be our room hopefully if you want." I tell her. "Ok and I would like that. I love you too. Bye." She cuts the link.

"I don't want to know." Jack says with this disgusted tone and face. I chuckle. "Its not my fault. It's Lacey's. She's a little minx." I tell him. Lacey is so getting it when I get back. I'll teach her lesson on what happens when she teases me like that and she knew exactly what she was doing.

"Like I said I don't want to know and thats my daughter your talking about by the way. Mate or not. Alpha or not don't talk about her that way." He says half joking and half serious. "It wouldn't like I was trying to. In my defense I had just linked her to check on her because she was upset earlier and I wanted to make sure she was ok." I tell. "What was she upset about?" He asks worried. I tell him what happened with Maya from what both Lacey and Brandon told. "Damn. Thats all she needs right now. Thank the goddess that Brandon showed up when he did." He says mad and I don't blame him. "Yeah I know. I had Brandon stay at the pack house with her tonight so she's not alone and in case another storm comes through." I tell him. "A storm?" He asks concerned. I tell him about the storm last night that passed through and how I found Lacey.

"Don't worry she'll be all cheered up tomorrow when she sees you and plus I promised her a day just me and her." I tell him. He looks sad. "Man I missed so much this passed year. She had so many mile stones happened this year and I missed them." He says. "Look there are plenty more milestones your going to be there for. Lacey didn't care about the other ones. Her birthday yes she did care about that one but there is one coming up that she was going to be really upset had you not been there and now you can be." I tell him. "What milestones is that." He asks. "Her graduation. She kept talking about how much she wished you could be there. I was actually trying to find a way to get you there for her." I tell him. He smiles hearing this. "She really missed you this passed year."

"You didn't get her a car did you? Because I had plans for that." He says. "No. I knew that was important to you and I wasn't about to over step on that. Though you may want to have her get a little more practice first." I tell him. "Why?" He asks.

"Because your daughter can't drive. I let her use my car so her and her friends could go shopping because I was not doing that. She backed into another mailbox and dented my car. She is never driving my car again." I tell him. He laughs. "Haha I wish I could have been there to see your face." He says laughing. You he probably would have got a kick out of that. I was so mad when she brought my car back. "Yeah yeah laugh it up. You know I was mad." I say laughing along with him. I was mad in that moment but I'm not anymore. I laugh about it now, I mean I should have known better. Its Lacey after all she is very clumsy.

A knock sounds at the door and Jack answers it. Its the pizza. I pay for it since Jack doesn't have his wallet on him its with the warriors and probably now back at the pack.

We eat then we get some sleep so we can get back home to Lacey.
