~Malik~
I watch the numbers climb as the elevator moves. I keep my eyes focused on anything and everything but her. Just her presence in this small space is driving me insane. I don’t know why my body is betraying me, but I want her so badly. I have visions of stopping the elevator and pushing her against the wall. I want to feel her skin on mine and taste her.
I swear the elevator is climbing extremely slowly, and I don’t know how much more I can take. She even smells good, like a mix of lavender and rose. She’s gotten quiet since I spoke of my wife. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence, and I’m not mad about the silence. I need to keep my mind focused.
The ding shakes my thoughts loose, and I look up at the numbers. We made it to the thirtieth floor, and I couldn’t get out of the elevator fast enough. Right before the doors close, she calls out to me. “I hope to see you soon, Malik.” I turn and look at her but quickly turn away.
I close the door to my office and slump against it. My heart is racing, and my body is on high alert. I have never been so attracted to anyone other than my wife. I wanted nothing more than to have my way with her, and I don’t like that. My heart and soul belong to my wife, my Natasha. I don’t want anyone else but this Lyric person…….
I shake my head and take a seat at my desk. I have work to do, and if I focus on that, I will be able to keep my mind off of the mess. I turn on my computer and check my email. Waiting for me, in position number one, is an email from her….from Lyric.
I sit back in my chair, shocked. I literally just left her in the elevator, and she’s sent me an email. I don’t really know who to take this. I click the email open and read the contents. There are butterflies in my stomach, and my heart rate picks up. She wants to meet with me for lunch. She wants to go over my duties and find out what legal has going on right now. I want to tell her no, but she’s the boss’s daughter. Hell, she’s the boss, to be honest. I will have to keep my weird attraction to myself.
I respond to the email and agree to the meeting. I need to figure out how to get through this meeting without causing any issues for myself. I just don’t get it; I don’t really want her. I mean, I know nothing about her, and she isn’t someone that I would have ever gone after. Unfortunately, there’s something in me that is pulling me toward her, and I don’t like it. I would never betray my wife or vows, so this entire situation is crazy for me.

I know, I know….. it’s a lot. I sent him an email while still in the elevator. He crushed me when he spoke of his wife, but I refuse to give up. I decided to insert myself into his daily activities to give him less chance to be away from me. He goes home to his wife, and if I want a chance, I need equal time. He’s mine from 8-5, and I need to make the best use of that time.
Maybe I should feel bad for conspiring to take him from his wife, but I don’t. I’m a werewolf and was created by the Moon Goddess herself. I answer to no one but her. I’m also of Alpha blood and will soon take over my pack. The Moon Goddess has paired me with this man, and it isn’t for me to question why. I don’t know why I didn’t meet him before he married this human, but things are as they are. I will not miss out on my mate just because of some pesky human ritual. I’m the best person for him, and he will see that soon enough.
I continually check my phone as I walk to my office. I’m waiting for his response so I can continue my plan. People are speaking to me as I walk through the room, and I’m trying not to be rude. I really don’t care about anyone other than my mate. My phone dings, and my anxiety spikes. I open the email, and my smile spreads like wildfire. He agreed to the lunch.
As soon as I get into my office, I make a few calls. I will have the meal brought here, and I will meet him in his office. He doesn’t know it yet, but we will dine in the office so we can keep close to each other. There’s a knock on my door, pulling me from my planning. “Come in.” The door opens and my father stands in the doorway.
“You left early this morning. Did you get a lot done?” I smile and motion for him to come in, and he sits in front of me. I’m tempted to tell him about finding my mate, but I don’t want to say anything yet.
“I scheduled a lunch with….uh…..” I shuffle through some papers on my desk as if looking for something. “Yeah, Malik Grant. I figured I should find out what’s going on in the legal department and I heard he’s the top guy to talk to.” My dad smiles at me and nods.
“That is actually a great idea! He’d be the best person to talk to, and it’s great that you want to learn about the other departments. One of the best ways to be a great leader is to make sure you know about all of the departments in the company. You can’t be one-sided.” I nod. I knew he would have this reaction, and I’m glad I was right.
“I just want to make sure that I learn everything I need to know to successfully run this company. I don’t want you to be disappointed in me.” Daddy reaches across my desk and places his hand on mine.
“I could never be disappointed with you, trust me. You are an amazing woman, and I know you will be great at anything you set your mind to.” I agree with my father, including getting my mate to choose me over his supposed wife. If I play my cards right, I will have everything I’ve ever wanted.
