"You haven't spoken all through this morning. Are you okay?" Mrs Rich questioned her daughter while struggling to keep her attention on the road.
"It's just the cramps Mum. There are worse." Elle replied, picking up her phone and trying to ignore the pain she felt under.
"You'll be alright hun. I've booked an appointment." Mrs Rich assured her daughter.
How could Elle explain to her Mum It wasn't the pain bothering her? Sure, The cramps were hell but what caused them. She remembered the wild night she had with her Alex, Her boyfriend. She vividly remembered how drunk she was when he slid a finger into her. It wasn't deep enough to penetrate her but It was still something. It was her closest thing to s*x and knowing how s****l learned Alex was, She wouldn't be surprised if she had contacted a killer disease.
God, I can't die now, She grumbled and tried to contact Alex again.
A good boyfriend would be concerned about her dilemma. She had literally texted him eighteen times in a span of twelve minutes but yet, Nothing. It was like.he knew what she was in right now and didn't care. Maybe he had runoff.
Breathe paranoid! She sharply said to herself, Brushing away the tendrils of hair blocking her line of sight.
The car slowly stopped at the driveway and the duo got out. While Mrs. Rich was engrossed in locking up her stubborn car, Elle trudged sluggishly on the sidewalks, Examining the hospital. Her hands shivered seeing the magnificent white building. Elle felt her cramps get worse imagining what the gynecologist would do to her body.
The words 'A trial will convince you' below Cedars Memorial hospital's bold banner did nothing to comfort her. Elle put a brave face and went through the door. It was almost silent, She could hear the beeping Machines and Nurses doing their jobs, Saving lives or maybe ending them. Who knew?
The antiseptic smell disguised the strong pungent smell of blood. It brought back bad memories. Elle remembered her father being rushed here in his bloodied state. He had slumped in the bathtub and hit his head. It was late before they found him and he was proclaimed dead on arrival.
She couldn't do this. She turned to go but her mother held her down.
"You'll be fine." She affirmed.
Somehow, Her words soothed her daughter. It was what mattered.
Maybe it wasn't the words, It was the faith. One that could prove missing your period for three months was okay. That the sick feeling you felt in your intestine was nothing serious. The more Elle thought about it, the worse the feeling got.
She managed to give her mother a weak smile and joined her at the information desk to get Dr E. Hale's floor, The doctor to examine her.
Mrs. Rich got the floor number and they got into an elevator.
"Sixth floor..."
"Mom? Do you I'll be okay?" Elle asked, feeling anxiety rush through her as the elevator shot up.
"Don't be so negative Elle. Well fine, what's wrong and I'm a hundred percent sure it's nothing serious. It's probably a growth sprout late bloomer."
Elle was sure her mother was only trying to make her feel better but at least she was trying. Alex had ignored her texts. She was so breaking up with him after this.
The elevator doors opened to reveal an even larger lobby. They walked towards the closest nurse who looked like she had just had a strong dose of magic mushrooms. She kept a low cut and looked like someone who managed to escape nursing school.
"How can I help you?" She asked, looking hyper or was it nuts?
"Elle Rich. I'm here for my appointment with Doctor Hale." Elle answered.
Elle noticed the Nurse give her a sick smile. It was a dirty look and It did make her feel dirty. It was like she knew what happened between her and Alex.
"I'm having cramps." Elle blurted before she could even shut the f**k up.
What is wrong with you Elle!
"I understand. Dr Ethan will be with you shortly." The Nurse said and exited to a room apparently to inform the doctor of his client.
The mother and daughter took their seats in the reception before Elle was called on.
"Be strong honey." Elle heard her mom shout just as she entered the room.
The first thing her eyes met was the name of the table. It had Dr E. Hale engraved on. The next was the trophies. There were five of them. Elle couldn't comprehend it. Could the Doctor be receiving awards for examining v*****s? Wild thoughts about her gynecologist kept popping into her head.
The color of the room wasn't impressive since it was the plain white that the rest of the rooms had but Elle had her attention on the various torture devices that would be used on her soon.
There was a metal tray with very scary looking metal tools lined up on it, as well as folded towels and a metal lamp affixed to a bending, twisted stem.
"I'm sure you want to take it all in but you should really get into the paper gown." The nurse interrupted Elle's eye tour and pointed to the black leather examination table which had the dress she was mumbling about. A light blue paper gown.
Elle turned back to the nurse in an attempt to ask for some privacy.
"Don't worry. I'll get out of your hair but remember to get on that table when you're done. Dr Ethan will be coming soon." The Nurse muttered and exited the room.
Elle busied herself in getting naked. It was a good thing she came prepared. There were no undies to waste her time. Moreover, she didn't warranty them for a reason. Thanks to YouTube vlogs about visits to your gynecologist, There were do's and don't's. Like how ninety percent of the doctors in this field had a kink for taking a whizz of women's panty and keeping your privates shaved to look presentable to the person who would violate them.
Elle pulled the paper clothing on feeling cold despite how hot it was during this time of the year.
There was a rustling noise outside the door. It was probably the doctor. Elle took a deep breath, cleared her mind, and slowly exhaled.
It was now or never.
Then there was a knock.
"Come in." Elle managed to voice before the doorknob turned.
She tilted towards the door expectant of what he would look like.
Wait, What!!!
