Chapter 19 Etan climbed down and stood beside Walt Colley, watching the truck drive slowly away. He held up a hand to Sandy in the back, hoping she’d tell Alex. He lowered his hand to his eyes, the terror and sorrow getting the best of him. Walt put strong arms around Etan, humming low and soft. “We’ll get you back to him,” Walt said, leaning back and holding Etan’s shoulders in his huge hands. “Let’s get you to your babies first, then I’ll take them home to their mammas.” Etan finally got a good look at Walt, the first thing that got through to his whirling mind besides Alex’s blood where it wasn’t supposed to be.
