Chapter 10 I WAS STILL CRYING when I answered the phone. Kristen was understandably alarmed. She hasn't often been witness to my emotions. I can see why she might find them alarming. I kept apologizing, and she kept asking what was wrong. I couldn't even answer. Not for a while. “Take a breath,” Kristen instructed me, like that was something I needed to be told to do. “Just keep breathing. It'll be okay. Now, tell me what's wrong. Can you do that? Can you tell me?” Why had I been crying? For oh-so-many reasons.
