They will bring doom and end you who have a heart of darkness. “From what our spies had gathered, the meeting of the rogue group of monster that called themselves as Reinvel took place at East City, Boarhound. They own the building that poses as a traveling company. The cover as a traveling company was suspected to be a perfect disguise for the surprisingly number of customers that they’ve got from all over the world. This means, not only that they’d probably recruiting members for quite some time, but also managed to gather various kinds of monster from across many other countries,” Shara finishes explaining and takes a break from the large projector screen in front to look at each and one of us to know that we are paying our fullest attention to her. Feeling satisfied, she continues. “We will need an undercover plan to attack them from the inside and gathering more information about the Reinvel, while the rest of us will have the counterattack from the outside of the building when the time has come. Until then, we will have to wait until the right moment. Any other suggestions?” she asks. When no one responds, she states, “Then this will be our plan from now on. Now let’s get into the classification of positions.” “Arsene and Banri,” she calls our names, turning to us. “Considering how close you two are, I will point you two out to go undercover.” Then, she faces the rest of the group, “The rest of you will be under my supervision for the outside attack.” Then, she walks back to the front stage, clicking the button for the projector to slide the screen to the new picture. Replacing the photo of Boarhound Traveling Company, a new set of photos appears. They are a female and a male, siding each other. The female has pale skin, with dark hair and dark eyes. Beside her is a man with red hair. The both look awfully young and similar to me and Banri. “These creatures are the new rising members of Reinvel, Mr. and Mrs. Everneath,” Shara explains. “Using the advantage of their positions in Reinvel, you two,” she points Banri and me, “will take their place as spies.” Banri raises his hand. “Yes, Banri,” Shara gives him the permission to ask with a little bit of irritation in her tone. “What about the real Mr. and Mrs. Everneath?” he asks her. “They are already in our custody in Sorcier,” she answers with a firm tone. “You and Arsene will post as them, using Arsene’s illusion to incognito your faces. This flash drive,” she pulls one from her pocket, “has everything you need to know about them. The attack is planned around a week. You two are dismissed.” Then, she turns to the rest of the team to continue her explanation. But it takes me quite some time to realize that I and Banri are going to become husband and wife. * My undercover outfits consist of a strapless and very short red dress, a 6-inch of matching red heels and a complete golden set of jewelry. I don’t know how Mrs. Everneath managed to wear these kinds of things, so I’m glad that they are all in my size. Otherwise I will never be able to zip the dress or wear the shoes. Shara even prepared a red push-up bra for me, with the perfect size. Once I’m done wearing my costume, I take a look myself in the mirror. Okay, there is no better word to put this: I look like a slut with a better red ribbon than normal slut. I feel like my bust is about to explode any sooner because of how revealing it is. I look back at the bag and thank goodness that this dress comes along with a feather jacket with it. Once I get out, I spot Banri already leaning at the edge of the hallway, wearing a black expensive-looking suit. He has to comb his hair to the back to match Mr. Everneath from the picture. “You look beautiful tonight,” he compliments me with a dazzling smile flashing from his pearly white row of teeth. “You, too, Banri. You look handsome in that style,” I reply to him. We walk together to gather one more time in our main room before finally separate for a week. They all welcome us with complements, except for Shara, of course, and Arch, because he’s just the type that don’t speak much. Shara gives suppressions about our mission one more time, before starts sending me and Banri out of the building. Stepping out of the elevator, none seems to recognize us anymore. It’s normal for me, because I haven’t been around for a while. But the same seems to work for Banri, too. I have to admit, this look makes him seem more serious than his usually carefree personality. Passing the awe and gawking from the wizards in the lobby, we walk outside the building to get inside the limousine (aren’t Shara just too extravagant for this mission, or it is the Everneaths that are just way too rich for their own evilness?). Along the whole ride, we sit separately at each edges of the seat while remembering back the things we need to remember about the Everneath couple. Once the road shows dimmer light, I can’t help but feeling a little bit tense. We are here. The Boarhound Tower. The limousine slides and stops just right in front of the main door. Banri looks at me, giving signal to start the illusion. I nod, making his face blurs like a washed painting in a flash and change it into Mr. Everneath. Mine must have change in the same way too into Mrs. Everneath face. Banri steps out of the limo first and then turns back to help me out, his hand hanging in the air in front of me, like a gentleman. “Ready, honey?” he asks, already in undercover mode. I smile and accept his hand. “Ready, darling,” I mutter. We walk into the lobby like movie stars on red carpet, gaining a few attentions because of the Everneath couple’s faces. We walk with pride and grace that they suppose to hold right now, getting inside the elevator to get to the meeting room that the real Mr. and Mrs. Everneath should attend tonight on level 48. Monsters of different varieties greet us, whether they are from the low or high class. We both then take a sit soundlessly in the middle of the meeting table side by side. Beside me is Fector Jack the Alligator, a very dangerous criminal who had killed numerous of not just humans, but other creatures as well. To my front, a cannibal werewolf with more interest in eating his own fingers, Laurant McHarley. Oh, joy. The leader steps out for the meeting, walking to the front of the stage. He is a masked man with long black jet hair. They called him Millenia. We still don’t know what species he is, but I suspect that he’s a vampire, analyzing the way he moves. But of course, I haven’t told anybody else about my suspicion just yet. “Good evening, everyone,” he starts, his voice is silky yet wise. “Tonight, we shall carry out the plan that we’ve been waiting for.” The screen behind him, that’s been written Reinvel all along since we arrive, is now replaced by a building that’s very familiar to me. It’s the Sorcier Tower. The fear that hasn’t come down to me is now twisting my stomach and dizzying my head. I have to hold on to Banri’s hand tightly so that I don’t lose focus. If I pass out, I will blow our cover, endangering him on the way. And I can’t do that. So I bite my lips and try to regain myself. Thankfully, it seems like no one is looking at my direction because they all are too hypnotized by their leader. “Before we can conquer the world and rule the humans, we have to eliminate one of our biggest threats upon making our dream come true. And that leaves Socier as one of them. Don’t leave anyone left to live. We shall kill them all and spare no life!” The chorus of cheering monsters fills the room into something louder and louder. It makes me sick to think that they’re planning to kill us first before they go to the humans. This means we are in a very great danger. * We reach the Everneath apartment at midnight. It’s located at the top of the building. We don’t have the key, but that’s not a problem. I can create one from black shadow into its form. The flat is as fantastic as it can be, with many glasses and mirrors. The hallway to our bedroom is a dim of orange, with wooden planks covering the walls. As we get in, the illusion wears off. Our bedroom isn’t that wide, though. But we do have our own closets, complete with many different clothing style that fill it inside, each on the sides of our king-size bed. My share, Mrs. Everneath, even have a traditional-style Chinese bathing tub inside! I don’t know about Banri’s, though. Deciding that I need a bath, I fill the wooden bathtub with hot water and strip while waiting for the tub to be full. I use Mrs. Everneath fresh rose petals to fill her tub before I get in. The water is perfect, without having it too hot or too cold. The feeling I get when I reach into this tub makes me so relaxed, that I can feel myself starting to drift off into sleep.... ....The sound of splashing wakes me up, ready to fight anyone who burst into Mrs. Everneath’s closet. I look around, but what I can see is only the artistic Chinese ornament and sakura trees. “Banri?” I call him. Silence. I repeat once more, this time with more anxiety. “Banri?!” “Yes?” he finally replies from the other side of the walk-in closet, which boundaries the bathroom from the bedroom. “Did you hear that?” “Hear what?” “I think someone’s inside,” I say. And that’s when he starts checking everything around in a hassle. I hear the door being opened and closed. A minute passes before it opens again. “It’s clear. No one’s here, Arsene,” he finally says once he has return. I glance around once more before giving up. Maybe it’s just my imagination. I decide that it’s already time that I get up. I’m too long in here. I look for the towel and grab the white one. “Nice view from here.” The heavy voice from behind causes me to jump, almost dropping my towel in the process. Then I turn and can’t help but quickly yelp. That causes Banri to bust in. “What the....” he stares at the kappa inside Mrs. Everneath’s bathtub, then at me for a moment, before back again at him. “How did he get out?” he asks me without looking. “I don’t know,” I say bluntly. A black flame appears from my left palm, burning like an oiled torch. “But I don’t think that matters anymore.” “Hey, chillax. I’m unarmed,” the kappa lifts his hands up in the air, signing defeat. “Besides, I don’t plan on attacking you guys.” “Well, you didn’t think that when you and your fellows attacked me and Minny before,” I spat with venom. “What? What attack? When?” he asks, clearly pretending not to know. “Don’t act like you don’t know,” I say, my flames getting bigger, and the smell of death is getting heavier. “Now, now. Don’t be reckless.” He’s really aware now that he’s outnumbered, but the calmness never leaves him. With Banri sets to reduce him, I trap that kappa inside the skin of my left wrist once more as a tattoo. “We have to be more careful about him next time,” I still say the obvious thing to Banri even though he already knows it.
